The protests seem to be very much about Gaza and he hasn't provided any evidence otherwise. The comparison to January 6th is completely idiotic and unhinged. One group occupied some building on a campus that protestors have occupied in historic past protests and were quite peaceful. The other literally tried to overthrow the government was very violent.

Many, many posters in here are repeating heresay or agreeing with Biden's premise even though I already showed it's wrong with raw data. And as I pointed out with the data, Japan is actually taking in more immigrants than anyone else in the region outside Australia. So the entire premise Biden presented is wrong. And as an immigrant, married to an immigrant, who work with other immigrants, no it is not hard to immigrate here. My wife had more trouble getting visas for the US and EU than Japan.

I understand that it's for the protection of the locals in the district, but it's pretty clearly targeting foreign visitors, which is by definition xenophobic even for a noble reason.

Tourists can be Japanese citizens too, of course, but like most tourist-heavy destinations in any country they're probably in the minority.

And while the US is unarguably racist, I can't think of a comparison in this case where a neighborhood, borough, attraction, or village/town is entirely closed off to tourists/visitors/outsiders besides government buildings or private land.

It's literally a few streets. It's not even legally enforced. And foreign tourists, despite being the problem (because rude tourists are absolutely a problem) are not being singled out, the rule says local residents are allowed to use the streets, not anyone else.

Honestly though I am sick of this shit on this board and the Western internet in general. Just make up whatever bullshit you want and bask in the superiority of your white culture. I lived in America, no thanks. I think with all the mixed celebrities this has probably changed quite a bit. One of the sports commentators on NHK right now and a Japanese women's pro basketball player is 100% black (but Japanese citizen), but another Japanese pro on the NBA Hachimura Rui is half Japanese, half black. The singer for Persona 5, Lyn, is half black and half Japanese, and two Ms. Japan's were half black. I can't think of any other specifically half black celebrities at the moment, but you see so many half white celebrities on TV that it borders on fetishism.

There's a YouTube channel dedicated to interviewing black people living in Japan. You hear a lot of mixed experiences. I think a lot depends on where they lived in both countries.

Business not allowing foreigners is illegal. You can sue them and win, the most famous case being literally decades ago over a hot spring. Did you see those signs? Maybe. I have never met someone in real life who actually saw a no foreigners sign, but it's possible and most people probably wouldn't want to go through the legal system just to go to some place, but the idea something like that is common is preposterous. I live in the middle of nowhere and go to lots of our of the way places and have never encountered a Japanese only place.

I suspect most of these stories are people who don't speak Japanese going somewhere, being told no one there knows English, and then posting online some racist store turned them away.

In China they're usually Maoists or other people critical of Deng and the current capitalist system. There are also liberals who want a more Western capitalist system, but those aren't leftists.

The Chinese leftists usually criticize themselves, but it's not really concern of imperialism but the capitalist system implemented by Deng and especially the current Xi regime. Caring about imperialism is more something dissidants living in the West do. I never met a Chinese person who cared about imperialism. Most leftists still want Taiwan to be reunified and would never support independence for Xinjiang or Tibet.

You keep ignoring what I am saying. What I am saying is that young voters are a small percent of the vote (by number of registered voters they are almost as many as boomers, but the turnout is such that boomers vote over twice as often) and the data shows they largely don't care about Israel/Palestine (it was ranked 11th out of 12 issues from that January data). The small amount of activists this affects isn't going to impact Biden. But due to the old reliable voters unwavering support for Israel Biden would hurt himself by not supporting Israel.

Again, I morally oppose aid to Israel. I don't even like the United States to begin with. The issue is you make a claim about electability that is detached from the political reality of it. It's like the people who think Putin isn't actually popular in Russia because they are morally opposed to the war in Ukraine. Politicians are not popular based on their adherence to our moral standards.

Not awkward at all. I go with friends in Japan often enough and took most of my American friends. My friends are really open people though. I can imagine it being awkward if you have a lot of religious shame or hangups on nudity.

We know for a fact based on posting history that some of these topics are literally made by Trump supporters though. I doubt it. They're a small minority of a minority and again young people don't vote in significant enough number to matter compared to older ones. Old people are the important factor and they're fully propagandized toward Israel and if Biden wants to win it would be a mistake to alienate reliable older voters for the possibility of getting some young highly unreliable voters. If you were making a moral argument that US support of Israel is wrong I would agree with you, but you're making an argument that this will hurt Biden's chances and the data just doesn't support that narrative.

I know a lot of people are really passionate about this, but it is in fact not an important issue to most young voters (and young voters don't vote much and no this election won't be different).

A lot of countries choose to recognize genocides not based on objective definitions, but for geopolitical reasons. So if you want good relations with Turkey you won't recognize the Armenian genocide, and therefore for Serbia you don't recognize the Bosnian genocide. It's also why they have done little to nothing to assist Ukraine, they want to maintain relations with Russia. They also help develop for and sell weapons to China and largely ignore Taiwan. This country is allegedly an ally of the US and the US provides them with endless aid and weapons in exchange for ruining US relations with Muslim countries. Also they bombed a US ship once.

There's absolutely unhinged people on circle jerk subreddits in both directions and then you have the game boards here versus the game board at ResetEra where even suggesting Eve looks hot or that you could play the game in a non-revealing costume will get you banned. This game is causing both sides of a dumb culture war to show their entire asses for everyone to see. I am sure I will eventually get the game on sale in the future and whatever status her outfits are in at that point will have no impact on my buying decision. Gameplay is considered good by most critics and players and that's what I play games for.
