It truly is like they misunderstand the entire purpose of the high court, instead of thinking they are there to inpterpret the meaning of how they law was codified and allow Congress to adjust should they not have passed what they thought they did, they instead believe in this arcane divination where the text is irrelevant and the only thing that matters is what they think they meant to have actually passed as law.

No, it is not a defense in a lawsuit. Why are people on this site so moronic. If you caused someone harm (a tort) then you can be successfully sued for that action. It does not matter if your action was legal or not. It does not matter whether you knew it would cause them harm.

And even at that, you specifically called out qualified immunity which irrelevant, so good job moving the goal posts, too bad you continue to move into an area where I still score.

Of course I have, you should probably Google things instead of just throwing around words you clearly don't understand. Qualified Immunity only applies to lawsuits, it is completely irrelevant for criminal proceedings. Lawsuits have only a tenuous relationship to the breaking of laws, you can be successfully sued without ever breaking the law if your actions caused harm to another party.

It's why McConnell betrayed the Constitution to keep Garland out, it's why they've been packing the courts, and why they salivate at any news of illness to Ginsburg. If they were able to replace Ginsburg with another conservative they wouldn't need to win another election for 20 years and they'd still have a lock on the keeping the country exactly the way they want it.

I won't try to get into any specifics, but think it this way:

For 60 attempts you should succeed ~20 times and for 10 you should succeed ~3.

So, 6 out of 60 is not very likely, and much the same 1 out of 10 isn't either.

But 6 out of 60 is like doing the 1 out of 10 6 times in a row. So you take something unlikely and then ask what the odds are of doing that unlikely thing even more times in a row and you can see why 6 out of 60 is much more unlikely.

Technically they always could, the two reasons they don't are that they'd have to waste a bunch of money in court over it because Donald and because he makes them a shit ton of money.

In a time with less partisan craziness, Donald would not be allowed to use Twitter the way he has. He is essentially picking winners and losers in the marketplace by using a private platform as his official communique. Imagine if he moved exclusively to some new platform created by someone in his inner circle.

The whole public record argument does not hold up for a private entity like Twitter, if the White House wants to claim his tweets are public record then it is incumbent on them to preserve that, not force a private entity to abide.

Due to a massive restriction on movement and gathering. While we wouldn't hit 100% infected, it will likely get into the 60-80%. But the 0.3% is just a bunch of guessing and hoping that our testing is poorer than we think. Current closed case death rate is 13% worldwide(17% in the US).

But the real point is to put a real number on the abstract. It is too easy for someone to say 'oh it's just 0.3%, that's like one in a million', but when you convert that to real numbers you realize that 0.3% is 1 in 300.

The CDC has updated their mortality rate estimate to 0.3%, and that is for all age groups and still likely an overestimation. They calculated it using six times the number of confirmed cases as the denominator but most experts think the real amount of cases if 10+ times higher than the confirmed cases.

If you are under 65 and without any pre-existing medical conditions, the CFR is essentially 0%.

0.3% of the US Population is 984,000 people, let's hope we can do better than that maybe?
