I see these rioters breaking, burning and looting things then a bunch of them get their asses kicked and arrested by the police and the crowd starts dispersing. I'm not sure what this is accomplishing.

Mobs are often sidetracked and co-opted. Once the storm as passed, people forget --- and what's left is the collateral damage to put on the focus.

Rioting isnt a protest its when tensions have finally boiled over....unless you're in the UK then its just a casual responce to your favorite soccer team loosing.

Being positive, peaceful, and accommodating has only been met with mockery at best and outright apathy at worst. It isn't a positive way to resolve the issue, positive methods have failed and people are tired of being ignored. Its unfortunate that its come to this, but literally no one should be surprised about it.

The riot is a cowards way of lashing out. They're attacking targets that do not oppress them but more importantly will not fight back.

If these people had any balls, they'd make a move on their actual oppressors but that might lead to some long term consequences I guess *shrug*.

People want to act like they are revolutionaries, but they're just children throwing tantrums.

Is it ideal? Nope.

Is it necessary? Absolutely. The only fucking reason he was charged is because 100s of thousands caused chaos. You can not deny this fact that its the only reason he was charged.

Pretty much this, when change can not be had through peaceful resolution the only option is violent revolution.

No one seems to have answer as to what alternative there is at this point. These communities have literally tried everything else at their disposal. They are ridiculed and insulted for public protests, they are teargassed and met with rubber bullets when they march peacefully. Police still kill black people whenever they feel like it and very rarely face consequences. What needs to be understood is that everything we catch on video now, isn't fucking new. It's always been happening. We just have the technology to catch them now because everyone has the ability to capture the video in their pocket. How many times over the years have black men died in police custody and we were told "they resisted, or they were aremed"? And people believed it because the cops said it and there was no video.
This is decades worth of anxiety, fear, rage, and desperation boiling to the surface after someone was murdered in broad daylight. Is it a good solution? No. Of course it's not. It's the only avenue we have left open for them and quite frankly, it's overdue that they take it.

You dont see burning down, looting, vandalism of small businesses as violent and unjust? Why exactly did the mom & pop shop down the road owned by a husband & wife deserve to be destroyed again?
