Depending on various factors, you might decide to email the professor of the class and ask them what they plan to do about textbooks. If theyre not so busy they will probably respond, because not so many people will email them asking about the course before it actually starts.

Doesnt the story take place in some American city? Its funny how thats the case but the feel of some of the environments is very European. Theres at least one scene where you see the inside of a refrigerator and it has egg holder slots on the inside of the door and thats apparently something common in the Netherlands.

It's sort of weird how educational debates can easily become political battlegrounds. I think tracking students is a good idea (if it's done well and not just to discriminate against minority students). Its not really very funny but I really like the meme where it is a motivational poster that is titled How to Draw an Owl.

It has Step 1: draw some circles, where it shows a panel of some ovals that are the outline of the owl. Then in Step 2: draw the rest of the owl, you have the good looking pencil drawing with the outline totally gone. The part that gets me is the Youre welcome, at the end.

I have seen an article on NPR of a high school in or near Washington DC where every graduate got into college. It turns out that a bunch of the teachers think that the administration was just passing students along even if they didnt deserve to graduate.
