Said "In the beginning God created"

And had a picture of 3 or 4 ape-like beings becoming a upright human. You know the classic evolution picture. With a big red x crossing it out

Guess this is just a thing you see when you live in a red state

I never get people who insist the bible must be 100% literally true and humans must have been created as homo sapiens with nothing before that. I guess all of the known species that predated us were just put here by Satan to confuse us, right?

I think it would be cooler to believe that god was smart and creative enough to invent evolution and let stuff create itself.

Yes I think if God exists, they were behind evolution. I doubt lifeforms just popped magically into existence one day. In the Bible I think it mentions humans being formed out of clay. That's probably talking about the gradual evolution over millions of years

I just get confused with the whole thing that The Bible was written by humans (or rather, God's voice, through humans, which still means a human wrote it), and it's mentioned time, and time, and time over again and again that humans are fallible. So... The Bible shouldn't be taken literally with every line.
Plus it's been translated more than a few times.

It's something that I contemplate often. As far as our current knowledge goes, at one point the planet was absolutely devoid of life... And then a single cell suddenly came to exist and was alive. Why was it alive when all other cells were not alive? How and why would it be alive? What the hell would cause life where there is none?

Even without the existence of any sort of god, that shit is astounding.

Even then being alive itself is a definition we apply. The biology before the first cells, the first proteins, etc are simply self-sustaining chemical reactions... we just arbitrarily applied importance on it.

Its more probable that a meteorite landed in the primordial soup, was carrying bacteria, which then was able to use the proteins as fuel. More meteorites crashed, more bacteria, etc.

Whats cool is that not everything here on Earth is carbon-based, as theyve found silicon-based life around hydrothermal vents.

Saying "it just came from space" also doesn't really make sense.

Well, it certainly wasnt some spontaneous event like many would probably like to believe. We are stardust, as all heavy elements are formed by supernovas. We also know there were many asteroids formed as the disc of matter formed into the planets and that we were heavily bombarded by them. Theres also the creation of the moon by another planet colliding with ours, and that planet couldve been teeming with life for a long time, or couldve just been barren rock with an iron core. Its simply something we cant know so we speculate about it, with many of those speculations being not thought out at all. Ill go with the testable stuff any day.

Yeah, it kind of doesn't matter where it came from. At some point living cells developed and the eternal question is how and why.

Eh, it's the closest I could think of for someone that says their a Christian but doesn't believe in what is at the lcore of the religion itself.

Of course, to be a Satanist you need to believe God exists in the first place...

Cultural Christians are people who don't believe in God, or similar religious practices, but still follow Christian values. In general, not really, but in this comic, yeah, the line "doesn't believe in God but still appreciates the contributions Christianity made to western civilization" kinda makes the point, you can tell because it's the first line. It's making fun of "that atheist".

No, but it did say we needed Christianity to have a moral society despite that codes of morals and ethics were developed thousands of years around the world prior to its conceptualization, as well as, completely ignores the totalitarianism and extremism that arose when Christianity was at its peak in power and influence. So it may as well have talked about Christian fundamentalism since the bias is blatantly clear.

"getting rid of christian culture can leave a vacuum of moral decay and nihilism that falls prey to totalitarian belief systems"
[citation needed]

Then what the fuck does "Christian culture" mean? They own civilized society despite historically fighting progress at every step? Are we forgetting about The Dark ages? The Holy Wars? The Enlightenment?

Yeah just because monks saved everything we know about the ancient Romans and Greeks doesn't mean Christianity owns the first world.
