I haven't told any of them that I'm gay. I'm unsure exactly how my parents feel about gay people, but at the very least, my grandma is extremely homophobic. She routinely talks about wanting to beat Ellen DeGeneres to death for being a lesbian. I just don't want to deal with any of the drama of coming out with them, really.

As someone who lives in and hates Missouri, I don't think I'd put it in the same tier as Arkansas/Alabama/Mississippi. It's bad, but it does have St. Louis and to a lesser extent Springfield/Columbia/Kansas City, which are all pretty nice.

I've legit never been to a city in the other three that I'd call anything better than "Ehh." Even the bigger cities in those tend to be pretty bad.

Depends on what you mean.

I don't think that any of the major characters are gay. One did gay porn, but regrets it, while another was called a "fake boy" before being murdered which people think was meant to imply that he was gay.

There's a possibly gay minor character, a gay porn producer who ogles some showering men, though possibly just for business reasons, before being stabbed through the head, and then one other minor character who is really flamboyant but doesn't have anything defined about him yet.

There are also a few very brief male ass shots.

All things considered, not really, maybe a minute or two of gay-themed content in total across the entire season. I'm all for more gay characters & ass shots, though.

I had never seen AHS before, but I got pulled in by the commercials and tried this season. As the end draws near, I'm absolutely loving it.

It's gotten close to going off the rails a few times, but it's done an awesome job of balancing campy 80s slashers with some genuinely good writing and backstories.

Also, tonight's episode was just incredible from start to finish. Especially Brooke getting revenge on the hitchhiker and cutting his thumbs off.

I haven't seen a ton of discussion for it outside of Reddit, but it's really fun thus far.

I feel like the most consistent responses involve exercise. I'll try to get more exercise and see if it helps. I've been kind of meaning to in general, but I'm bad about it, especially on days like today when I haven't slept at all.

I also might try doing the YouTube thing with the lights on & not in bed. I like having some time to catch up on YT channels and stuff, but I can see how it might not be great for sleep, so doing that might help a bit.

If those don't work, I guess I'll have to try a doctor or medication. I'd rather solve it without those if I can, but I may need to go down that route at some point, since spending roughly half of my days totally exhausted is a massive drag.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I really hope they help, because this insomnia thing is just getting to be too much.

Definitely reading and appreciating the responses here, but one did stand out a bit.

- Use a blue light filter on your PC and smarphone. I use f.lux for my PC and Twilight for my Android phone.
- Exercise regularly. I lift semi-regularly and it definitely helps me sleep.
- Get a lot of sunlight exposure.
- Don't use your bed for anything other than sleeping. When you use your bed for other activities too much, your brain dissociates this connection that lying in bed = sleeping.
- In desperate situations, you can perform a sleeping clock reset. What you do is just not sleep at all for one day. The next day, sleep at the time you want to adjust to. I did this once and I haven't had an episode of sleeping problems ever since.

A few of those might help tbh. I have a bad tendency to chill in bed for an hour or two before actually sleeping and watching YouTube videos or browsing or whatever to just wind down. That might be kind of bad regarding the first and fourth points, though...? I could try cutting those and seeing if it helps, idk.

Ideally, I'd like to avoid it, but I'm not sure if there's a better option by now. It's just getting obnoxious by now, and it's been going on for a while.

I'm also kind of thinking that it may stem from my anxiety issues, sadly, so medication may be the only real immediate fix. I feel like this kind of started up around the time I started feeling really down about job hunting stuff, and it's still unresolved, so I'm sort of thinking that my mental health is a major factor there.

I am going through a similar thing right now. How often do you exercise?

I'm a bit bad about consistently exercising tbh. I try to work in blocks of it for 30ish minutes at a time a few times a week, but I often just forget or don't feel super up to it after work. So, a little bit, but not a ton.

Awesome posted...
whats your diet like?

Kind of just...mixed/average, I guess? It just kind of varies depending on the day, but I usually eat two meals per day, and I get a solid balance in. I eat a good deal of vegetables, at least once as a side with every meal with at least 2-3 salads per week. I don't eat much meat, not really for moral reasons or anything, but rather because I'm not huge on the tastes of most meats. I don't drink much soda, and I'm okay about drinking water (though I do go for juice sometimes just for the taste, so my drinking habits could be better). I almost never drink alcohol. I don't do drugs sans the occasional allergy pill if my allergies are really bad. I've taken Aspirin 2-3 times in the past decade or so, but it's an almost never there too.

Sorry if those responses are vague. I don't really follow a super specific plan on either. I do try to exercise regularly, but I'm really bad about following that consistently (especially lately, because the insomnia makes it really hard to feel up to doing much of anything after working).

I've been having decently severe insomnia for over a month now. My average pattern has been to sleep for around 3 hours in a night (give or take an hour), then have a night of solid sleep (6-7 hours), and then another night of 3ish hours, with a few totally sleepless nights in there.

It's kinda ruining my life, because I feel like I'm too tired to do anything half the time.

There's not a defined reason for me not sleeping as far as I can tell. I just can't seem to turn my brain off at all, and I just kinda end up lying there not sleeping even if I'm tired. Then my mind starts to race and usually ends up landing on something that makes me anxious, and then I start tossing and turning.

I used to take melatonin several years ago, but I evidently built up a resistance to it, as it eventually stopped working. I'm not sure if it would work again now, but I'm not sure about it. Beyond that, most of the tips I see online are like "limit naps" and "sleep in a dark room", which...don't really help, since I'm already doing those.

I dunno if there are any easy fixes for insomnia, but if anyone has one, I'd love some help.

I vaguely doubt that anyone remembers a topic that I made over a year ago, but here's a pic from her at the time:

OOy9TUT

She was malnourished and very, very thin. She slept a lot and was generally just weak while walking with a limp.

Well...over a year later, here's the kitty today, now named Emmi.

j16mOrc

She definitely loves to lounge a lot, especially with our other cat, Ellie...

aOKj8Fe

XQ9rW9Z

rox6gAw

But she's very playful, too. In particular, she loved when we had a ladder set up. As nervous as it made me, she didn't seem to mind.

tUGNbHf

sAXTVLj

Though, both cats hated the Fourth of July.

7rMCZLj

But above all else, she's just an extremely loving cat.

She's not fond of being held, but she loves to nuzzle and purr, and just generally enjoys hanging out with us. She'll follow me around all day and sleep near me when she sleeps. We weren't sure if she'd make it at the time, but after some rest, food, and a vet visit, she's a very happy & healthy kitty.

And just as a bonus, here's another of my other cat:

v5xxcbI

Named Ellie (which was the influence for Emmi's name, since they go together), she's also extremely loving, and she'll take any opportunity to jump up on my lap and hang out on me. She loves to be held, and lets me cradle her and carry her around while purring. Despite being a really big cat, she's a big baby at heart. I love both of them a lot.

Sorry for the pic spam, and like I said, I don't really expect anyone to remember the original topic....but if anyone does by chance, I figured I'd follow up on it. I'm really glad that we were able to take Emmi in, as she was abandoned and frankly near-death. She's a great cat and I'm really happy that we were able to (likely) save her life.

A year ago I was looking for design jobs and found a couple churches needing help in those areas. Problem was they had uncomfortable series of personal questions besides work experience and although it would be easy to straight up lie and fool them, you'd have to be a piece of shit to sink that low just for a paycheck.

Like conning a faceless soulless corporation is one thing wgaf, but a church even if you don't agree with their values, ehhhhh no way.

Yeah, even aside from that one, the rest of the questions were asking if I've been baptized and how often I go to church, and...yeah, I'd have to lie quite a bit there. I just backed out of the application in the end.

I'm pretty sure that being gay would immediately disqualify me regardless.

And honestly, I vaguely expected it when I saw the offering, but it would have been a great fit for me otherwise. The pay was solid, it's close by, and it fits with my experience. Had it not been for those personal questions, it would have been a perfect fit for me.
