I'm mostly just worried for my cousin. She's always been incredibly sensitive, and I know she's so broken up about it.

I got a call from my sister last night, informing me that my uncle had committed suicide by hanging.

I barely slept and have been just shocked and distraught all day. I had absolutely no idea that he was thinking about that. The entire family is pretty torn up about it, especially my cousins, for obvious reasons. One of my cousins was planning to visit him along with her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter in two weeks. She's absolutely devastated by it all.

I guess there's no overarching point to this thread beyond just venting. It's been over 24 hours since I found out, and I'm still just...stunned. I've been trying to process it as the family grieves, but I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around it. It just doesn't feel real, but...well, it is.

Great game. There are a few parts that I wish had been a little bit different, but it's still enjoyable, and the last parts of the game are absolutely phenomenal.

IIRC that game was never sold digitally, so it's only going to get more rare as time passes.

Which is a shame. I always sort of wanted to play it, but I kept putting it off and now it's fairly rare. Kinda wish they'd port it to something.

I wish that Roland's ending wasn't so stupid. I feel like his entire character went waaaay off the rails at that point, and I had really liked him up until that point.

I remember Republicans trying to sell lies for years about how "The GOP doesn't care about LGBT rights, we have nore important things to focus on and gay rights are settled", or the even more pathetic "Gay people should vote for Trump because he'll protect them from the groups that want to kill them." (Which in itself was used to segue into flat-out racist attacks against certain groups)

I mean, nobody with a functioning brain was ever buying those lines, but it's at least moderately amusing that they tried to sell such transparent lies while clearly seething about the whole thing and waiting for the first opportunity to pull this.

Most real fighting games (IE not just cheap anime fighters) rebuild the game from the ground up for each proper version. Porting characters over isn't possible for most of them.

Just adding more and more would also either lead to the game either becoming a balance disaster, or a homogenized mess.

Most ads/commercials are awful across any platform, honestly.

It was ridiculously satisfying to take those two down. They were so nasty all game long, and finally getting to fight and beat both was great.

These are the same people who were saying "YOU CAN'T TOUCH MY GUNS! THIS IS THE LAND OF THE FREE! DON'T TAKE MY RIGHTS AWAY!" a few weeks ago when a bunch of kids were killed and people said that maybe we should actually do something about that this time.

Finding hypocrisy among them isn't particularly difficult, if I'm being honest.

Jens completely breaks several maps and is my favorite character in the entire game to use.

Medina is usually considered to be the best character in the game, but I honestly think she only gets really good a decent bit into NG+. Her big claim to fame is that her healing items have extra range, can be used multiple times per turn, heal extra, and restore TP once you have her entire kit unlocked. She's really absurd once you get her going, but she really needs her full kit up and to have basically unlimited healing items to reach her potential.

Lionel is fun but not great, and Picoletta just relies on a single gimmick that's inconsistent. I don't think you're missing out on much from those two.

No, unless you absolutely really really really want to play the complete series.

The plot is largely just okay, with some really, really bad twists near the end.
The characters are all largely disposable and forgettable with the exception of the main cast and 1-2 standouts.
The majority of the game is geared more towards Layton in terms of gameplay and overall tone/presentation. I'd say it's like 70% Layton, 30% Ace Attorney.

If you're just considering it as an AA fan, I wouldn't be all that concerned about missing out on too much. It's just okay overall, and it's more Layton than AA.

I'm still super skeptical, but a friend suggested that I weigh in on it all in video form for my ridiculously tiny FE-themed channel, so I figured I'd give my two cents.

TLDR, I still think it's pretty fake, but if it is real, I really hope that a lot of details were touched up, because it looks really rough.

I'm like, 95% sure that it's fake. The screenshots genuinely look like a downgraded Three Houses, and all of the designs look stupidly generic.

I mean, there's always that off chance that it's real, but I'd say it's very likely that it's fake.

Gundham was the real winner.

I had to fight back tears over Billy Kametz's death a few days ago. The entire situation was really tragic, and he seemed like such a great dude. He's done a lot of voices for characters that I love too.

It's genuinely impressive how bad Capcom is at this. Their shows are just absolutely nothing.

Sad to say, I think that Dragon's Dogma 2 was scrapped if it was ever actually real, and I'm worried that Ace Attorney may be dead too. Capcom really seems to enjoy arbitrarily killing off franchises.

Path of Radiance > FE7 > Radiant Dawn > Sacred Stones > Thracia > Binding Blade > Genealogy > FE3/12 > Gaiden (non-SoV) > FE1/11

I think PoR is the flat-out best FE. Great story, top tier cast, all-around very solid gameplay.

FE7 is just a pound-for-pound really really good FE. It's one of the best 'standard' FE experiences without a lot of extra gimmicks to it.

RD is a direct sequel to PoR. It's a fun game, but the story gets a bit messy, and the game has a lot of extra mechanics to juggle. It's a good followup to PoR if you play it.

SS is great, but a little bit on the short/easy side.

Thracia is basically a fan hack Fire Emblem. Really fun game, but very very goofy and unusual.

Binding Blade is a personal favorite of mine, but I'll also admit that it's flawed. Namely, it has huge balance issues, a lot of its cast isn't that memorable (though it has some great standouts, and I love Dorothy/Zeiss/Elffin/Geese/Hugh in particular), and the RN system means that a lot of characters are really prone to missing constantly, especially with the overly-strong FE6 thrones.

Genealogy has a fantastic story, but its gameplay can become a slog. The maps are absolutely massive and moving around takes ages. It's also a bit dated, and you have to manually calculate a lot of things. I really like FE4, but I'll admit that it can get sort of tedious to play out.

I'd recommend against the DS remakes and the original Gaiden overall. OG Gaiden is just very dated, as are the original FE1/3, and I'm not personally the biggest fan of the DS remakes. They just kind of ended up being sort of bland in both plot and overall presentation and weren't that interesting to really play out.

My hot take is that I'll never understand the appeal of Kyoko outside of waifu-ing, I guess. Her personality was "I'll give you exposition sometimes" and I felt like she wore out her welcome really hard.

Maybe I need to be attracted to girls to get it, but I found her to be really dull in the long run.

I just finished 13 Sentinels earlier this week, and Nenji was easily one of my favorites.

Maruki was a big favorite of mine for Persona 5 Royal as well, and Ferdinand von Aegir is always amazing.

I genuinely teared up when I heard the news today. He brought so many characters that I love to life, and he seemed like a genuinely really good guy.

The entire "groomer" line that has been floating around recently came precisely from that line of thought. It's definitely a coordinated attack that aims to paint LGBT people as child predators, and it's not subtle at all.

It's an easy way to keep up with some friends that I don't directly speak to as much these days, but still like and want to stay in contact with.

It's also a really good source of art and news.

I looked into Sims 4 a few years ago, where I found out that there's no bundle for it and you have to buy the barebones ass base game and then spend literal hundreds of dollars buying tons and tons of DLC packs to get the full experience.

I finished my PoR ironman in video form recently, it was a lot of fun. Not sure what I'll do next, but ironmanning is a fun time.

It has 12 seasons. It's been running for over a decade now.

If so, I'll always recommend The House in Fata Morgana. It's excellent, and easily one of my favorite games of all time.

I couldn't make it through that video. I started crying under a minute in and had to just stop the video.
