I just replayed 2-2 a few days ago, so this seems like as good a place as any to weigh in.

2-2 seems like it was a very difficult case for the developers to write. You have to re-introduce Maya, as well as bring in Pearls and Franziska. There's a lot of stuff going on at once and as such it feels a bit cramped to me and unbelievable. I've replayed this case numerous times, and I still can't see any reason why Phoenix should win this case. I mean, Phoenix's best defense the entire time is "hey there's a hole... eight inches off the ground in the folding screen!" and "look, here's another hole... eight inches off the ground... in the clothing box!" No effort is really made to have to prove that it's been made by a gunshot or that the two holes are related in anyway... it just is.

And then there's Ini/Mimi Miney. All she has to do to get away with the murder is just. Shut. Up. I'm aware this is basically true in every AA case ever, but I don't know, here it just seems really strange. Why are you even testifying about how much your sister likes sports cars? So Phoenix proves you were lying about having a license picture. All you have to do is say you had your picture taken but weren't able to drive yet. And when Phoenix actually does reveal the twist, like, why doesn't she, like deny it? Or something?

2-2 isn't bad - it's actually a pretty good idea for a case that's just implemented sort of poorly. I guess what I mean to say is that Phoenix's defenses seem really weak in the case, and Franziska / the game just lets it slide since it's only 2-2 and they can't really figure out how else to let you win. It probably needed to be a three-day case.

Not as bad as people think, but yeah, I admit it took me a minute to remember who she was. She has some pretty cool moments later on in that game, I think. Definitely my least favorite member of the cast.

Also, do Penelo already! What's the point of having an upcoming characters list if you don't even follow it.

Yeah, can't really complain about cameos in AAI, since it was a reaction to there being no returning characters in AJ (y'know, except for Hobonix and Ema, who had both been hammered into something else entirely).

I do agree though, that Oldbag should've been nowhere near ME-5.

I don't understand the people who think this game is a 10/10 or better than OoT. The beginning is atrocious. Seriously, I didn't think they could come up with a more boring introduction than TP's, but wow, Nintendo does it again! Cliche characters who talk a lot without really saying anything important, menial tasks, flying your stupid duck, a ham-fisted Link and Zelda romantic subplot...I mean, if it were any other game I wouldn't have even continued, but you know, Zelda good will and all that. Is it too much to ask to go into a Zelda game and be able to be done with the first dungeon in less than an hour?

I'm not big on the controls. Why isn't there a way to move the camera (besides Z-centering)? Why is there a stamina gauge? Why does Link get tired from running up a flight of stairs? I should not be in better shape than Link. Don't get me started on flying. I didn't find the combat as mind-numbingly awesome as some people. Wow! Now you have to swing your sword a certain way!

The dungeons are good. I can't complain there. The story does improve as the game goes on, but it's not noticably better than Wind Waker or OoT. It's about as good as TP, which I didn't really like at all. I guess that's how I feel about the game in general, about as good as TP, not deserving of its acclaim.

By the end, Cait Sith has somewhat redeemed himself from being straight-up terrible, and his true identity is a nice reveal. However, mostly he's a terribly implemented character . First of all, whether through translation or whatever, his introduction is completely botched. He just randomly inserts himself into your party. This happened a lot in early Final Fantasy's, but not in FFVII, so it seems a little strange. Then immediately, the idea of a spy is introduced and for some reason no one suspects the suspicious talking cat. Then you think he sacrifices himself at the Temple of the Ancients, and it's a pretty cool redemptive moment that's immediately negated because another one appears out of nowhere. He's just weird. Terrible in battle too.

I dunno man, Stars of the Lid are just about as close to pure drone as it gets. Great band too; our tastes in ambient might be more aligned than you'd suspect!

I'd give a listen to at least the youtube links from the 4-5 ambient albums on here; you might find something that changes your mind.

I guess I'm more specifically talking about the Hecker stuff that came out this year. It just bores me to death. Stars of the Lid at least has some semblance of melody. I liked the A Winged Victory for the Sullen record from this year, hope it makes an appearance later!

Loved the Gang Gang Dance record, but I hardly ever listen to it. I guess I just have to be in the right mood. I love Glass Jar - reminds me of fighting Jenova.

To be fair, Layton vs AA is coming out, the movie is coming out, and AAI came out last year. It's more like they just want to keep it in Japan, not "kill" it.

I think that Feist album is really good, but it starts off with a string of dull songs. I don't even get into it at all until Track 3 and 4, and then "A Commotion" just makes me want to turn it off. A shame too, because everything after that is great. "Anti-Pioneer" is really good.

I haven't really listened to anything else you've mentioned so far, except the Strokes. Pretty much you hit the nail on the head. "Under Cover..." is a great song, but the album is terribad.

The best hip-hop song this year is "Y U Mad" by G-Side, or "N****** in Paris".

I think the explanation is that Link's time traveling adventures in Ocarina of Time created three different universes.

Left Timeline = This timeline was created once Link went back in time after spending time in hibernation for seven years. Since Link altered history (assuming Link only went back in time once, and did part of the Spirit Temple/Bottom of the Well in one go,) the future he went back to wouldn't be this one, so Link simply disappeared. Ganon ruled 'his' land, but that eventually was sealed off as the Dark World, I believe.

Center Timeline = This Timeline was created after Link defeated Ganon and was sent back in time for a final time. Link was able to prevent Ganon from taking over.

Right Timeline: The Hyrule that remained after Link was sent back in time. Since Ganon eventually came back (and Link was nowhere to be found) he was able to rule, and this sets up Wind Waker

Same score I gave Sabin, because they're both equally awesome. Sabin owns everyone in the game with martial arts, while Edgar prefers to cut people in half with chainsaws or drill holes through them. He's probably one of the most OP characters in FF history. There's never a part of the game where Edgar doesn't have a gamebreaking tool. Delightful sprite animations. A ladies man, engineer and king. How can you not love a character like this.

Snow's not that great. His character design is HORRID. Is this like a fashionable look in Japan or something? The best thing about him is he's voiced Troy Baker - I'll give him an extra point for that.

Zidane is everything you'd want in a FF protagonist: determined, heroic, brave, humorous, confident. He's got a developed backstory that ties in with the main plot and a well written romance. It's a shame then, that I find his character design so repulsive. It's not even the tail. It's the hair, the big hands, and okay, yes, the tail.
