Actually I'm going to backpedal and say they do make the games notably worse because Rean can date his students.

this is what makes CSIV egregiously bad. like I can deal with the harem aspects of CS 1 & 2. I can look away when older Rean and Sara get flirty in CSIII and IV (which is definitely icky but tolerable), but they crossed the line with Altina and Musse.

and unlike Persona they don't have friendzone options, and some of the good story/character development is locked behind the date events (I forget what they're actually called)

I did finally watch Shang-Chi. People really talked this one up, and it let me down. The bus set piece was the best part and that was over in the first half hour. Didn't really do enough to set it apart from just being an Asian version of Black Panther.

is there still dating sim stuff in kuro? cold steel IV is almost ruined thanks to it so I'd be happy to hear that they got rid of it, but I fear the worst.

It took them a few years, but Nintendo finally figured out Mario Party for the Switch. Not much to say here really... it's Mario Party. Would've like a larger selection of playable characters and even more boards, but here's hoping that Nintendo actually offers up more boards as free updates/DLC (spoilers: they won't).

Playing Mario Party with your friends/family is mostly a warm and fun experience. However, every once in a while you'll have to screw them over, or you'll playfully steal a star from them, or you'll completely dunk on them from a place of love. That's Faye Webster's aesthetic to a T. She'll sing about getting dumped while at the same time making a joke about it. Often smug, sometimes sad, Atlanta-based Webster's album is capital I Indie, and I generally like it, even if I don't enjoy her voice very much.

I had a pretty fun time with Loop Hero, though I really only played it for a weekend earlier on this year, when I was bored as sin and desperate for something to waste time with. If you're looking for a time turner that speeds up time, you can't go wrong. Hours fly by playing this; you can also just let it go in the background while doing something else, which feeds a need for multitasking.

Madlib is kind of a "loop hero" on this record. *groan*. Exceptional sequencing showcasing a variety of sounds and textures, fusing hip hop, jazz, and world music.

I don't really know how to write about this one. I knew of Madlib through Madvillainy, the record he did with MF Doom, who passed away in 2020. At first Sound Ancestors just seemed like a pretty standard beat tape to me, but it stayed with me and I keep coming back to it. I'm a teacher who had to record a lot of video lectures this year, and I definitely used a lot of these instrumentals as background music. Listen to it!
