That sounds like a really good piece of advice, and I am going to work on that.

I've gotten to that point before in some altercations(like, I have become direct and assertive, but not at the start) and that helps a lot, so it makes sense if I can work on beginning a potential altercation that way the whole interaction will be better.

Yes! I know hesitating is bad, and the second you say "ah, or uhm" it generally means you have failed.

I like that. Shoot words from your mouth....with conviction!

This is in reference to masks but I need to learn this skill overall. I can be assertive if i need to but with strangers I struggle.

We had a guy who used to work for us(and retired early because of people cursing him out over masks) who would ask people three times to pull the mask up and wear it properly, and if they still didn't do it, he would kick them out. The old GM let him do it. I actually like this idea but man I don't have the nuts to be like that.

This deals with the mask policy at work.

If somebody doesn't have one on I will say something, but I never say anything to the hoards of people who wear it under their nose. That is at least a handful of people every couple of hours who you'd need to tell to wear their mask properly, and there is a chance they could get upset.

I just....never have been that assertive. But I am manager occasionally now, and I certainly need to be able to do this if i see the employees under me do it from time to time. The hang up is a lot of people get upset about being told to wear their mask properly in a pandemic. Just today we had somebody who just straight up walked out after being told. He didn't even buy anything, he just left. People have cursed at us and pretty much the whole nine yards in relation to a) wearing them and b) noses hanging out.

This is something I definitely need to get better at if I am to "level up" as a manager. I can be assertive in some situations, but the nose issue is pathetic on my part. I will defend employees who ask and get hassled to some degree, but I never say anything myself if I am waiting on them or see one in the store.

How does one gain this skill? I know I am 100% in the right for asking people to cover their nose, but even so I struggle with this.

A woman named Dawn Bancroft is on record saying "We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin' brain, but we didn't find her" (United States of America V. Dawn Bancroft/Diana Santos-Smith, United States District Court of Washington, D.C., case 1:21-mj-00182)

Since she didn't specifically say Nancy Pelosi, she could have meant any Nancy. Crisis averted, everybody!

We have on video people saying "kill Pence" but that was never one of their goals I suppose. especially since the phrase "stop the steal" kind of implies stopping Pence from overseeing the certifying of the electoral college results.

Or maybe "stop the steal" doesn't somehow mean preventing Pence from doing his duties? After all, since they've failed every step of the way in overturning the election, what other options do they have to "stop the steal?"

See, this is something that should inspire you all. Have a good attitude about life, and love yourself and try to fester a culture of improvement. Not always do I improve, but realize you love yourself and you come first and try to make smart choices.

I feel like I can do this. I've lost a lot of weight, I look pretty good, phat ice on my wrist, heck i even just got new glasses. And we got a new GM at work and he is awesome so I am happy almost all the time now. The only reason I wouldn't have been happy before i due to work issues caused by my extremely boneheaded former GM.

What on Earth could stop me from further trying to succeed?

I was just going to ask her if she wanted to do something sometime, Chad. Just straight up.

See, I don't recall her ever being like this before. I always remember her as an in and out maybe small chat kind of customer, but she's been more talkative lately with me, and I don't think she talks this much to my other co-workers but I can't say.

And thanks a lot Koga! I actually feel really confident because I feel like it either works out or it doesn't, so why not? This isn't a complete stranger, I don't think it's that weird. She asked me if I was her favorite customer once so i feel like even if it means nothing, come on yo. I'm going to do a little more homework and then maybe go for it if things continue. The funny thing about this is that I remember the first time I ever saw this woman in the store. It had to have been around two years ago, and I remember remarking to myself "damn....she's nice" and she seems to be in the medical field wearing a white coat and a stethoscope sometimes, so i'm thinking dang best of both worlds intelligent and good looking. But it isn't like i've had any type of feeling for her until i feel like she's given me something, but if this doesn't work out it isn't a big deal.

It could be just being nice, but I don't know. Gonna size up the sitch the next few times i wait on her though.

And yeah, that comment threw me off a little...but oh well. i see a lot of people all the time and its whatever. i didn't think that one was necessarily flirty.

This person has actually been a regular customer for a while now, most if not all of the 2 years I have been here. Not every day, but a few times a week(she even said a couple weeks go "Oh, you'll be seeing me again in a few days like always")

I've never seen it like this before, as say before 2021ish its' been mostly business and not really much banter.

I have lost 20-25 pounds in a year and recently made a push to get 10ish more off and i got a phat piece on my wrist (Hamilton Viewmatic) so hey maybe somebody has noticed. I can't say, though. I look good, IMO, though since losing the weight.

I think I will do this. If the next few times are playful and fun etc like they have been then I will have a clearer idea. If I didn't think this was a level beyond just basic niceness I wouldn't even be considering it.

And I do mean beyond just general niceness or whatever.

The past few times she has been in she asked if she was my favorite customer(related to a thing my co-worker and I were discussing), next time she came in I called her my favorite customer and she said I have a good memory...last time she was in she mentioned she got her second covid vaccine and was feeling down. I made a joke about how she was injected with 5G cells and she laughed, and left saying "have a good day SIR" (extreme emphasis on sir).

So There is a chance this could be her being nice, or anything. Since this is a liquor store maybe she is a little toasty when she comes in and is in that kind of playful mood or something. I don't know. I haven't seen her make this level of banter with anybody else I work with.

I feel like I have to take my shot here. I normally would NOT ask out a customer because that is borderline harassment, but I feel like I have enough to go off of here to try, and if I read the situation wrong things remain as they are and I don't act weird or anything when she comes in in the future.

I think I'm going to see how it goes the next few times of waiting on her, and if things remain the same(playful, etc), I'm gonna see if she wants to do something some day.

Some cards/services give you small benefits for using the tap feature, other than that I kinda don't see much of a point since it doesnt always work. And if it doesn't always work, you need your card as a backup even if you want to use your phone for enhanced security and leaving the physical card at home in a safe or something.

yeah. it works a lot and sometimes doesnt work a lot.

One of the problems is customer focused though. I am not sure where to hold the phone/watch/card as i've seen it "ding" for acceptance in multiple spots. Some people hold it in one spot for 3 seconds, and if it doesnt work they insert it. I'd want them to try a little harder but oh well.

But despite that yeah it is finicky.

Another thing, kinda related: stretchy jeans.

NOT a fan of 'em, though I probably wear pants that have some of it in them, but overall, nah. Stretchy jeans are just for fat people to fit into smaller sized pants, and since I am losing weight partly to fit into smaller sized pants(subway Jared joke!)....the idea of "stretchy" jeans repulses me. But since I am a mid 00s Hot Topic kid in spirit(never got into hot topic bands but some friends did, so I have a small place in my heart for it) I prefer my jeans to be as skinny as I can handle.

Down to 182 right now on the scale after my pee this morning.

I started Dec 2019 at 214. I got down to 190-195ish, stopped for the better part of a year(not really by choice), and then in december again I made another push and lost some more, bringing me to low/mid 180s.

Every time I get on the scale and I see I haven't ballooned back up is a good feeling, but when I decide to push further I don't make it more than a day or two before I fuck up.

Like I said, I am glad to have lost a lot so far, and I feel great. I can actually run or jog and not be tired AF in six seconds, I look much better, I have dropped a few inches in pant size and can now fit comfortable in large rather than XL clothes. But ultimately I want to lose more.

Sometimes dieting is easy, sometimes it isn't. But when I go through a rough patch I can still make smart choices even when I've had a bad day and have ate more than my limit.
