Thats what it is right there. A lot of musicians got their foot in the door in the punk scene, I suppose fairly low barrier to entry, then evolved beyond that.

The replacements, Husker Du, X, and way too many others, not even including the bands that transitioned from punk to metal in the mid-late 80s.

So, i've been trying to lose some weight and i've been fairly successful.

I started at 215 in december of last year. Within a month or two I dropped 15, but then I stalled because I have more bad days than good, however, I didn't gain any weight. But lately i've been stepping up my walk game(three 1.5-2 hour walks in the woods with some elevation changes sunday, monday and tuesday), and this morning the scale said 189.2, which is around my high school weight.

Part of that might be because I had a hotdog at 6:30 last night and didn't eat again, but seeing the scale say that will make me more dilligent in the future, starting today. I am going to continue to count calories again.

This is kinda exciting. The long term goal is to keep it off. I've kept the 15 off for 7 months, and while I kinda plateaued, I never gained it and have eventually lost more.

Lets go baby!

That cuts through some of the trails.

There is a gas line running through it so a long line of trees is perfectly cut through, almost as if with an exacto knife. This looks cool and also weird. I feel like, since i hardly even see people on these trails, its like I am alone but i see some marker of mankind.

This park also has some elevation changes so the line of trees cut out goes up and down. You could walk on it for an easy reference point(and also tresspass on a farm in parts), but some of it is so steep it might actually be a challenge.

This is a poor quality image of it. Tomorrow I plan on returning and getting actual good photos of it, some not even in infrared.

https://imgur.com/0PWgTKh

This is a photo of somewhere else showing what I mean. My park isn't quite as majestic, but hey

http://whereswalden.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/0138.jpg

I love it, but at the same time it scares me. Mine isnt quite that steep but it does have some elevation changes.

One of these days I would love to just walk through it even if it means the odd tresspass, because it literally would be the most efficient way to get to certain points, such as my house.

Some cleaning up: hey i actually listened to stuff(just the tracks posted nothing else from most of these)

Amebix - This is dark. I can dig it for sure!

Dystopia - wasn't much of a fan until things kicked in around 2:50. I began to like it then...the tone of the instruments around that point. Oh yeah! Not that I care so much about copying but....slipknot's people = shit comes to mind as far as song titles(with slipknot coming after Dystopia)

Man is the Bastard - when you think youve seen it all out of some genres, but then something fresh(to me) comes along. I dig it, though I do prefer a lot of the faster kinda shit.

Mr Bungle covering the exploited - All I have to say is California is a dope album. As far as cover songs go, I guess it was decent.

Richard Hell - This is the kind of music I am not the hugest fan of, but I liked it well enough, and can see its place in musical history.

Black Flag - No need to even say anything. This track is a classic.

NoMeansNo - I've heard Wrong and liked it ("Rags and Bones is...YES), perhaps checking out their other albums would be worth it

H2O - This is the kind of stuff I feel like defines the 90s. I perfer the grittier 80s stuff BUT this has to have a place in any punk person's heart cause like....yeah. sing along anthems!

Minor Threat - One of those bands that doesn't need any sort of explaining. Classic of course.

Pigface - Not a fan of that, though I can see it through an industrial lens I guess and then it makes sense.

Bad religion - American Jesus is one of my favorite BR tracks. Angsty teenaged me loved it, though I still do.

Faith no More - Never really got into them, but I can dig a well crafted cover thats very different from the original work.

Midnight Oil - I guess i don't know enough about this band to understand whats up, but I liked that track and it sounded good live.

Fugazi - Fugazi has been a band where I like a lot of songs but not everything. Waiting Room is a good song. Though if you see a Fugazi song posted anywhere it's going to be waiting room. Of course you posted and explained something unique about the track that appeals to you so its fine. But to the rest of the world who simply thinks waiting room is a cool song: they do have other songs out there. Fugazi shouldn't be turned into a singles band, like how my local "classic rock" station only lets us hear "another brick in the wall pt. II" by Pink Floyd and nothing else.

The screamers - Not a huge fan but props for the halloween vibes

His Hero is Gone - Yeah I can dig this. Not much else to say as I didn't listen to the whole thing but I'll definitely keep the name saved for later use.

Oghr - Yes. Industrial. Or maybe I lack so much knowledge thats the only word I can think to come to mind. This seems extremely dancey. Not bad.

Occasionally I'll watch him. I like what i've seen though because he is a chill host.

My coworker was gifted a tacky letter board that had on written on it "According to chemistry, alcohol is a solution" some time ago, so to get rid of it out of her house its been in our store. I personally think it is tacky AF and making light of alcohol addictions which we see on a daily basis. Never was a fan, but its been there for months at this point. Customers seem to like it. meh.

Tonight, amid my county taking a partial step back, mounting Coronavirus cases, and the odd loser who doesn't feel the need to wear a mask, I went into the letter bag and put up a new sign

"OUR HEALTH OVER YOUR FEELINGS"

My assistant manager likes it. I feel like the rest of the crew will, but I didnt tell anybody else what I did, so they will be surprised tomorrow.

I'm not even playing the current version(1.9 vs 2.0) but I can say this is definitely worth it. I havent played vanilla FF6 in like 20 years, but just seeing some of the changes over the original make me think this is absolutely the way to play the game.

People talk about a game like FF8 being broken but it appears vanilla FF6 was too(though, good characters and story can make up for it whereas FF8....ehhhh)(ps i still love ff8 despite it) to a large degree. Attributes not really doing what they should, needing to lowest level game it to get the most out of Espers, etc. Takes care of all that shit, and 2.0 as I was reading takes it a step further. Game is also more challenging(compared to vanilla FF6 which apparently is very easy) I hear, which is good. A lot of these boss fights take time and skill rather than just brute force. I like it. Its challenging but not hard. Hard work will get you through it just fine.

The only real complaints I could see anybody having are the Dialog changes that have added in referenced and BTB charm. You can revert back to vanilla dialog if you want. And some of the items are a little "meme-y" such as the Red Bull Item curing 200 HP and giving your character float. But I was never that attached to vanilla FF6 to care about the Dialog, and in places it is hilarious. The items I think are a nice touch too.

Right now I am listening to "Tim" by the Replacements. My favorite album of theirs, and I swear it's not just because my name, and my dad's name, is Tim. They weren't totally underground, signed to a major label at one point(which Tim was recorded under), but this is a band that crafted hard rockin' songs so well its almost a shame they weren't HUGE.

Anyways, one of the best "fuck you, we don't wanna make one" music videos ever made, for the song Bastards of Young.

I love over levelling so while I am probably 3/4ths of the way done with the world of ruin I am all level 35-45. I know level isnt everything in this game and you need to use skill and strategy moreso than in the vanilla game, but what would you say?

I just really want to see what you say even if I am going to level the fuck out of my characters regardless because grinding is a disease.

Asking if Bad Religion fits in a punk topic....

One of my favorite albums of all time is Suffer. An absolute classic, and I feel like a worthy introduction into punk music. Its just a fast, concise album but you can actually understand the vocals for the most part and the lyrics use awfully big words, which I have always liked, such as in my favorite part from the song "Delirium of Disorder"

"I am just an atom in an ectoplasmic sea
Without direction or a reason to exist
The anechoic nebula rotating in my brain
Has persuaded me contritely to persist"

Anyways, Fugazi is another good band. They have a lot of good songs. What I like about them is how they perfected the art of being super heavy and then super slow and smooth. Two examples are "Shut the Door" and "Reclamation"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WHAnkJFOMs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILZ-Jn-GIgQ

I would be curious to know which vocalist you didn't like, Crusher. I actually find it kinda interesting how Fugazi itself is a punk supergroup, though it organically formed that way.

Not to discredit the histories of Joe Lally or Brendan Canty, but the vocalists Ian Mackaye and Guy Piciotto were in two hugely influential bands prior.

Ian Mackaye was in several bands, most notably the DC area hardcore group Minor Threat as referenced above. This band was super loud and fast, and the lyrics always hit hard, with very personal observations about the world around them. This band also started the "straight edge" movement with their song of the same name. Now, they didn't intend for this but it happened, but I find it super cool. They had a lot of songs with messages critical of alcohol; fugazi never did interviews in magazines with alcohol advertisements as well. The song "In my Eyes" has lyrics that do cut deep as fuck

"You tell me you like the taste
You just need an excuse
You tell me it calms your nerves
You just think it looks cool
You tell me you want to be different
You just change for the same
You tell me it's only natural
You just need the proof
Did you fucking get it?
It's in my eyes
And it doesn't look that way to me
In my eyes
And it doesn't look that way to me
In my eyes
You tell me that nothing matters
You're just fucking scared
You tell me that I'm better
You just hate yourself
You tell me that you like her
You just wish you did
You tell me that I make no difference
Well at least I'm fucking trying
What the fuck have you done?
It's in my eyes
And it doesn't look that way to me
In my eyes
And it doesn't look that way to me
In my eyes"

Ian's vocal delivery is very shouty and not really refined, though you can kind of understand him. It's not my favorite, but it's more then adequate given the circumstances.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsAu-nOg3Tw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2jEHyhBXe8

The other vocalist, Guy Piciotto has a different history within the DC scene. So, a fact about the DC scene is that it is where the term "emo" ultimately comes from. It started out as "Emotional Hardcore" which began in washington DC around 1985. Around this time the scene grew weary of straight up hardcore because of the violent nature of it(Not sure if this is what it was, but I am speculating. By violent I mean like people getting hurt at shows, and the general nature of agressive and fast music). Guy was in what is often credited as the first emotional hardcore band, Rites of Spring. Ian Mackaye was also in Embrace which had a similarly more emotional style. Guy didn't like the emotional hardcore label, because he didn't feel his particular vocal delivery was any more emotional than anybody else, it was just his particular way of expressing himself. But when you write lyrics like "If I started crying, yeah would you start crying" called " "theme(If I started Crying)" and you sound like you want to die...what do you want us to say? Guy's vocal delivery definitely sounds like he wants to die, the kind of screaming that just sounds in a way like it stabs your heart. His vocal delivery style is one of the defining traits of emo music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0tp-Go5IKE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra5y1SwQIb8

Between the two of them, this remains my favorite all time vocal performance, for one part in particular.

Listen to Guy on the Fugazi song "Full Disclosure" off of their last studio album, The Argument. The part from 2:25 onward. But just listen to the whole song, though.

Oh yeah, X is a great band. They got Ray Manzarek to produce and play keyboards on their first few albums because he read a review of an X show in the newspaper where they were called trash and he just had to see what they were all about. That is pretty impressive, but his keyboard really stands out. I've never had a problem with the vocals, but I tend to take a lot of things as they come like that.

The one NoMeansNo album I really liked was Wrong. Lots of great songs on there and kinda has that funk/jazz/whatever style to it which I like.

You don't tend to see heavy spikes with Ag bullion unless something big is happening. Normally it stays around the same range, but the highest price per ounce silver has ever been has been $49-50. In 1980 when the Hunt Bros. tried to corner the silver market(and failed spectacularly) and in 2011 during the fallout from the economic crisis around that time. The goal for me is to wait until it gets there again, or trends upward, and then sell off some stuff.

With Coronavirus you saw it dip to a recent low only to come back up to now around $18 an ounce. I tend to not worry or care about day to day fluctuations unless I feel like prices are getting to where i'd want to buy again.

Here is a brief historical price chart

104 ounces of silver bullion. I don't have enough in the game to care what happens necessarily. I've bought at decent prices within the past 2-3 years, and the prices will never permanently dip below what I bought for so if I want out I can easily make my money back at a bare minimum if I have some time to wait.
