For instance when I go shopping, nobody follows me around to make sure that I'm not taking stuff out of the store. My daughter, who is biracial, however, the store people will watch the whole time to make sure that she doesn't shoplift (nobody gives her the benefit of a doubt despite the fact that she's never shoplifted in her life). I've gone into restaurants with my daughter and had people try to sit us at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen (another place that fits the stereotype that blacks sit in the back where they can't be seen). In fact I went to one restaurant where they sat all black customers in a back corner and wanted to seat me and my daughter there too but I vehemently refused to let them; so don't tell me that there's no such thing as 'white privilege'. I don't remember ever being seated in one specific place in a restaurant because I'm white no matter how much or little money I had at the time. Exactly someone like Wendy Williams can't even catch a cab in New York unless she's with white friends or Oprah being followed around in a clothing store. Not to mention the discrimination when it comes to whites and blacks being sentenced in courts. --- WAR EAGLE --- |
