Giving up eggs does not mean giving up cookies and cakes, as it's not really the reason why you'd eat them. You would not be able to eat eggs for breakfast (scrambled, omelets, in a sandwich, etc.), but eggs in baked things is fine.

Ah, my mistake.

I don't understand it, then. Maybe it takes some time for HIV to develop or something? I admit that I don't know enough about HIV in particular. I did notice that it mentioned this:

The ban still applies to men who are sexually active with other men, but celibate homosexuals are permitted to give blood, according to the Ministry of Health's website.

That's important. It would make sense to ban sexually active (two key words there) gay men if HIV cannot be detected for a significant period of time. I did hear before that it takes several months after being infected for it to show up on a test.

The policy still sucks, but at least it is understandable if my interpretations on HIV are correct. I don't like the idea of stereotypes and discrimination, but if that is what helps prevents HIV, then it may be a necessary evil in this case.

My computer crashed. It appears that there is some corruption on the server. I am going to try to restore it, but until I do, the server has to be closed until further notice.

EDIT: Bad news, it seems like the backup isn't working. Some chunks may be reset.

I assume they wouldn't test the blood because testing might be expensive. It's probably easier and cheaper to ban gay men from donating than it is to just test all of their blood. If the statistics say that gay men have a significantly higher rate of HIV than the general population, then it makes sense. It sucks, but that's probably the best way to go. I would assume that blood is randomly tested, however.

In the future everyone, please estimate your own costs of things and post those amounts. I'm guessing on the cost of things, and considering that I fly on average of once per 3 years, I don't really know how much some flights would even cost. Also, please convert to US dollars before voting, so it's easier on me.

And Google created Google Desktop first. I wonder what that does.

Also, here's something I've thought about. Microsoft has all kinds of litigation thrown at it, and a lot of it is successful. Not sure about patent disputes, but I know it is mostly antitrust stuff, usually with IE and Windows Media Player trying to monopolize web browsers and media players. Apple's kind of doing the same thing by blocking apps that compete with systems apps, aren't they? Except worse, since I could easily download Firefox and Winamp (or whatever else) without having to do anything special to my computer.

Litigation against Google and Android phone makers seems to be more about patents. I'm not as familiar with iProducts as I should be, but I see it as very likely that Apple has infringed on something as well.

Why don't I see more successful lawsuits against Apple? As far as I'm concerned, Apple does many of the same things that Microsoft and Google do. They just don't get sued successfully as much (if at all) for doing so.

Then you'll have to work at a minimum wage type job. If it is impossible to get a minimum wage job (or type of job), then you can't do something impossible. That's really your only escape.

Your minimum wage is set to whatever the local minimum wage is at the time. So, if minimum wage is $7 right now in your area and changes to $9 in 5 years, then you'll be getting paid $9 in 5 years. That's how inflation is taken into account. Your payout won't adjust itself for inflation, but you can put it somewhere to earn income (from interest, stock dividends, etc.).

$10 million.

If it were up to 65, then I'd accept $5 million. Still, $10 million is more than enough to compensate for my terrible job, the wasted time and money in school trying to get a good job, and it can be used for investments to help with income. I'm hoping it would also be enough to compensate for inflation, but who knows how the economy will change.

What if you become sick or disabled? Especially if you are in your 90s?

Although I can't imagine any jobs right now, if there is a minimum wage job you're capable of taking, you must take it. If you can't walk anymore, you might be able to get some kind of stay at home job online or something that pays minimum wage, for example.

What about passive income?

Example: I use part of my payout to buy an apartment complex, hire a management company to run it, and collect monthly rental income without materially participating in the business. Is this permissible?

Earning money from investments (real estate, stocks, bonds, etc.) is fine. The apartment complex is fine. But remember: you can't turn it into work (actually hiring a management company yourself is borderline enough), and you must always check into your minimum wage job even if you earn a lot of money from your investments. Someone's gotta keep the place running!

If we would be allowed to choose which minimum wage job, I would accept for $3,000,000 which would offset the lost money from better paying jobs.

You can choose the job, as long as it's something where it makes sense to earn minimum wage. You can get a job as a dishwasher but not as a CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
