Yeah it looks like this was a lot more sporadic prior to the PS4 release I played. I knew that they were released later, but I had no idea Requiem an Reincarnation were ever seperate release from eachother.

And I dunno about patience, you should play these at your own pace! Just wanted to make sure you didn't miss them.

As for other VN games that have at least some similarities...I mean I can't in any good conscience NOT recommend Umineko, which is definitely my favorite of the bunch (and game in general)

I'll be playing and writing up the Prologue and Backstage portions next. Not sure if that's what you mean. I have been looking on Steam, and I don't see anything I've missed that isn't another game in the franchise.

I dunno how it's listed on Steam, but everywhere else it's considered an expansion and is included in one package. It's very much part of this game.

I know you're right from a chapter count, but I'm pretty sure it's not from and hour count. Definitely possible I'm warping the DLC content's length into it too much, though, since that's about half as long as the base game in total.

Mushoku Tensei is just wild, because I was so repulsed by it by a few minutes into episode 2 that it was a hard drop, but I gave it anither shot and there's some really fantastic stuff there, but then every once in a while I'm just struck by how horrendous the lead can be. I really like some of the stuff there, but what's bad is so repugnant that I straight up could never tell another human being to watch it.

Of course, even the bad press that was getting seems to have been overshadowed by...the other anime we were discussing yesterday, lol.

I haven't kept up with Kemono Jihen, but what I saw was pretty great.

The worst thing about Redo of a Healer is that nobody gives a shit about it. Everyone was screaming about this nightmare series that was going to make Twitter and Tumblr explode, Goblin Slayer 2.0, and almost nobody is watching or cares about it at all. I think the decision to have actually full on hentai scenes actually ruined it's chance at notoriety, because when your series is actual hentai nobody cares about any controversy.

It only worked for that brothel show last year because that was a comedy, and because nobody saw it coming.

I would say that's completely reasonable. Nothing about the Horimiya anime actually feels like something is missing for an anime only watcher. They certainly pulled off cutting out tons of it with far more grace than usual. The difference a clean professional cut and a butchering.

I think the show is still very good myself!

Yeah, but I had absolutely no expectation for P5 to begin with, and I figure it's just kind of par for the course. Considering what a horrific nightmare P4GA was, I barely even felt how lame P5A was.

...Though weren't people also complaining about how much was cut out of Bunnygirl Senpai? It was so excellent I didn't give it much thought, but...maybe this is just who they are, and this is just the first time it's really caught up to them?

Unfortunately, Horimiya is also suffering a good bit under the weight of just how much source material it's cutting. It wasn't so bad early on but I'm starting to feel it. Not quite the same situation and still solid, but I hope this doesn't become a trend for Cloverworks. They were doing so well!

Promised Neverland S2 ended with a montage that covers the events of a season 3 that isn't going to happen. Also since last week's episode writers have been requesting/successfully having their names removed from the credits.

Final ep of Chimera Ant 100% made me cry.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head.

That's definitely the most noteable. I cry easily at media though so it happens pretty often, but that was the most from an anime.

The most I've ever cried in my life was some of the stuff in Episode 8 of Umineko, literally a half hour where I was unable to function because I was bawling, without any exaggeration.

Is the series actually any good, or just nostalgic? I managed to not watch a single episode back when it was airing somehow.

I'm a little burned out on the "classic revival" after Yasahime kind of...petered out after the initial interest. The intital novelty could only take it so far.

Honestly this is a fascinating stance, I legit never imagined we had someone pro-Light around here.

I can't really put into words how much I disagree (I consider Light a quintessential villain, there are few more evil I can think of that aren't just cartoon characters), but at the same time it's not like I don't understand at ALL.

The idea that good intentions are justification is just...completely absurd, though.

Having read all of the spoilers I think it's hilarious that these people are losing their minds, but I also totally get why because BOY are some of these things seemingly specifically there to troll the fans Anno hates so much.

It's odd because I had always assumed this movie was gonna be terrible and had no expectations since I thought 3.0 was so horrendous, but I guess there were people who were HEAVILY invested in it's release and biting their teeth at the multiple years of delays?

What is catching me off guard is I'm getting the feel that the movie is awful but just a blast to watch, which I would not expect because 3.0 was such a dull slow slog. I definitely can see it based on spoilers, though, and will absolutely be watching it.

It's not even the concept I dislike, it's more that it's done badly (imo) and that it's really just not the stuff I watch this kinda show for. I can see why people would like it. Hell, I would be perfectly happy being slapped in the face by Miyamura and called a bad, bad girl. But there's something about the public nature of it, their age, and just how it's portrayed that makes me uncomfortable on top of it being unfunny and cringe rather than clever comedy.

To be fair I have the foreknowledge of how this stuff advances later on, so I may be seeing it a bit differently. I'm pretty sure I remember being pretty wierded out at first, too, but I was blitzing the manga so fast that I didn't linger on the introduction until it became more of a gag then anything.
