He's Marvel's best villain right now (well, right now meaning prior to 6 months or so ago I think, have fallen off of X-Men since then), and it'd be a shame for him to be done dirty, but I feel like they either ruin it by making him too jokey or they ruin it by making him too serious.

Took a long break, but will probably be coming back into this soon, just for casual play through the story.

Any upcoming banners that would be recommended? Pretty annoyed with myself for not starting when Furina was still around because I liked her look a lot. The only 5* I have is still Yae Miko, though I do have all the characters used in the...was it called the National Team or something? That group of 4* boys everyone apparently used all the time.

It took like 5 years off for the next season and somehow maintained the steam from first season.

I remember the reaction to season 2 as it was airing being pretty whelmed (not for me I was eating it up) compared to S1. I don't think that's how it's seen now at least though. I remember liking it more than S1 and people called me nuts.

Barely got into S3 though, only a bit further in the manga. One day I'll finish AoT.

Nobody, and it's felt like that for a while. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing either.

Obviously I'm not calling these 2 things even closely comparable in quality, but it's been reminiscent of some later sections of Hunter x Hunter. Gon was still an enormous part of Chimera Ant and core in some of it's most memorable parts, but you show that part to someone in a vacuum and there's no real indication Gon is the main character outside of the OP.

In MHA's case though it's a slightly more negative implication, because I feel like Deku has been really boring for a really long time.

The last bundle of MHA chapters have been pretty strong.

Just a shame it took so long to get here.

I also feel like at this point you can barely even call Deku the main character of this series. Really feels like Horikoshi has lost any drive for writing his lead.

Never lose that hope my friend. I held on to for over a year, giving up provided no relief.

I finished all of S1 for DMDP and it's solid, but a couple episodes into S2 I decided to just drop it and read the manga instead at some point. Just didn't really feel like the anime was doing anything for the material compared to the other Narita shows.

It's such an absurd move that there are still people to this day who think it's a bait and switch based on absolutely nothing other than it was just too bad a decision to have actually happened.

I watched a bunch of OPs for it for the first time ever after posting that, and it looks like it's one of those series that gradually increases all the character's ages with every season and I'm a sucker for that.

Not sure about the art in this Vivid season though.

I feel like this show is in the exact same category as Symphogear for longform multi-season 2000s magical girl adjacent show I missed out on by being an insecure teenager.

The fact that people could still watch and enjoy that $14.37 hobo adaptation just goes to show how good the man is. You should watch Planet With if you haven't (I'm speaking out of my ass here because I haven't watched it yet but I have been ASSURED it's up to his standards) and I stroooooongly recommend reading Spirit Circle.

This isn't Mizukami's best work by any means, but it's still good and is probably his most commercially safe to get people into him.

There are parts of Dandadan that are pretty slow in manga form, at least when reading weekly, due to the lavish spreads taking up pages. I think an anime will definitely deal with that issue.

It's the same thing I expect will happen in some later Chainsaw Man episodes, where some of the chapters could take up 2ish minutes anime screentime.

I haven't watched Madoka in forever, but wasn't it relatively low on yuri-baiting compared to similar shows? (Yuki and Togo from Yuki Yuna is a Hero are way more in love, for example). I remember Sayaka's whole subplot involved her love for a dude. Seems like a weird reason for the fandom to turn on a seemingly popular spinoff!

It leaned in harder on it at the end, and of course in the movie, but up until that point it would be hard to even say there was very much hinting at yuri. The Madoka Fandom in general is pretty laser focused on the last 3 episodes and beyond though, so a combination of that and marketing since then has caused Madoka to be seen as and become much more sapphic than it originally was.

When a show has a total of 4 male characters, including a dad, a baby, an evil transdimensional monster dog rabbit cat, and an unrequited love interest specifically designed to cause conflict, the writing is on the wall.

Just found out that Mami Tomoe's Everyday Life, what I thought was a cancelled manga after a few chapters that I read ages ago, is actually an enormously successful ongoing manga that's still going strong after a decade, and the reason it's got no presence here is everyone who would translate it just hates it too much to bother??

I mean it starts with all the girls but Mami married to dudes, including Homura being married to Madoka's baby brother, so I can see why it would be essentially blacklisted from scanlations I guess lol.

4 chapters got translated in and not a sole has touched it since, and volume 10 looks to have come out in Japan in October.

Without a Sphere or Rope at all? Pretty solid to start. You already have your requirement for Solsotto, though you of course want to get all the Crit numbers as high as you can.

Topaz definitely wants an Attack rope instead of an Energy Regen rope. Obviously Fire Damage Orb.

I'd rather have the Luka LC on Pela with the Energy Regen set than give her Tutorial.

Most of the other character's who want energy Regen sets though...I feel like they benefit more from Vonwacq and the guaranteed first turn?

Pela and Asta are the best candidates for the new energy Planars if you don't want to use LCs with built in energy Regen already, since they both already have parts of their kit designed to boost mono element teams, but again with Asta I'd rather have Vonwacq.

Broken Keel is always good on a support unit, I would say to consider it a raw upgrade to Fleet of the Ageless in most situations. Asta would be the exception there a lot of the time I think, though I put Vonwac on her anyways.

Even Fu Xuan would prefer Keel as long as you can reach that desired 8k HP through other means.

I think most supports and sustains you'd want in a DoT team are going to want one of the energy regen sets rather than Fleet or Keel...Fleet stock has definitely dropped.

Have been periodically thinking about my Top 10 anime over the last week due to recent series, having not really taken a crack at it for a long time. Wanted to allow recency bias to fade, and the unlikelihood that 2 anime I only just saw could make the cut simmer, though I havent cooled on either so fuck it.

I've narrowed it down to 23 in no particular order. Some of these I already know wont be making it in the middle of typing them out but I figure its best to be thorough.

Ive tended to have a bias excluding comedies and long running Shounen series too, which Ive tried to nip in the bud.

Ive also swung extremely hard to the side of the political spectrum that anime is an aesthetic and doesnt have to be primarily from Japan, which of course changes things up a bit. If someone who has never seen anime asked for recommendations, and you could reasonably recommend a series as a response to that question, it counts.

That first chunk of S2 was really good when it was just an entirely different show!

I could have watched a whole season of tribal lizard politics. Got a little mini Suikoden III sidestory there.

Overlord to me just reveled in it's cruelty too much after a certain point. The arc where the adventures sneak into his castle (or something like that) just really, really got me super angry. I could definitely see this going down this path eventually, but the character here aiming for peace and his own defeat even if he's unquestionably a self admitted villainous monster does have me interested

With Overlord they're actively seeking world domination for the sake of it, which can be fun too, but it falls apart when you don't actually want the main character to succeed anymore and I feel like that's where Overlord got.

Despite it having a title so long as to be a parody, I'm really enjoying "The Executed Sage Is Reincarnated As A Lich And Starts An All-Out War" so far. And notabley, it's in no way an Isekai!

If you're one of the many people who used to like Overlord but got tired ofbir annoyed by it, worth checking out.

Nothing about the Strawhat's story or look appeals to me in this arc in the slightest, but I may come back to the anime for real for the first time in like a decade to watch all the side story stuff we get during this, because that's been top notch content.

Israel sure seems to be shooting and killing a lot of Palestinians during this ceasefire.

Kafka update. Got her speed to 146, which gets her exactly 160 speed all on her own once she gets her LC stacks, giving me the max effect from the new Relic (+12% Attack and +18% Damage).

It seems a majority of the shown characters have been A Rank (4*) so there's probably a lot more to come even at launch.
