Well let me put it this way. I'm not sure exactly HOW it would play out but it would almost certainly play out one of two ways. Either you would be forced to speak positively of the president and worship the ground he walks on, or you would be forced to utterly despise the president and likely the entire republican party as well. Either way, you'd effectively see the immediate elimination of an entire political party as well as any dissenting voice or even voice that didn't 100% agree with the party line.

It's not the main characters being safe; it's them seemingly never being presented with a real 'risk' as it were or a choice. Like, a very good dilemma would be for Janeway to have to deal with the question of 'do I break Federation rules to keep my crew safe/increase our chances of returning home?' but she only rarely seems to get confronted with that. Especially since doing so should really impact how the crew sees and treats her. I get it's a serialized series... but this really needed to be more of a show with a defined beginning, middle, and end instead of serialized episodes where most things go back to the status quo after.

It's got some good episodes; but I think they just botched the premise from the get-go which was the issue. Sure, things like 'cutting the travel time' would come up on occasion but, for the most part, they were 'safe'. Which ruined the whole point of the show.

Multiple factors but, I suspect, the single greatest influence is that American workers just don't know any better. They don't bother to learn about other people and cultures (especially since they're working so much) and thusly don't realize that things *could* be better. Plus there is a massive anti-communism strain in America which makes anything that would benefit the worker highly suspicious, religious grounding, and a mentality that you shouldn't 'rock the boat' and cause problems. Especially since a lot of places practice 'at-will' employment which basically means your boss can fire you at any time for any reason. When you have a family to support this means your boss can basically go 'work an extra 10 hours a week for free or be fired' and you'll be encouraged to accept because, if you don't, your kids go hungry.

Read a history book. Religion is an important part of history. Lots of things in history happened because of religion. Or dealt with religion in some way. And it's hard to describe things that happened for an about religion without understanding religion. Plus, religion is more than just what you think religion is. Take the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian Gods. Or any culture's God(s). That's religion. And some whole cultures revolve around religion. Not talking about religion as a whole makes talking about the past nearly impossible. Which means nobody can learn anything about history... I may not like history classes, but it is something important to teach...Which is probably why it's one of the core classes you need a certain amount of year for...

Pretty much every subject has been or is influenced by 'religion' in some way, shape, or form to boot. Even math though that's more historical than not. Let's not forget things that, while they may not be religious, are heavily tied to religion. Like, say, morality which has massive impacts on things like ethics and politics. This is why the destruction of religion is usually core to the progression of dictatorships in any form. Because with religion gone there is nothing to stop the government from decreeing what is and is not true, right/wrong, and so-forth. It also lends itself handily to things like the destruction of cultures and history. You're not 'rewriting history'; you're removing religion from the classroom!

Yea no. That's not 'separation of church and state' that's 'destruction of freedom of speech' and 'tyrannical' and really not just as bad but worse. Plus you'd also need to apply it equally meaning Muslims couldn't talk about islam, jews about judism, hindus about their religion, and so-forth. I'm pretty sure everyone would scream 'oppression' and everything if you tried that. Plus what about religious clothes and what-not? Is a christian not allowed to wear a cross necklace but a muslim to wear a hijab or a hindu the dot-thing?

This sounds less like a legit opinion and more like some teen trying to be edgy by attacking religion.

Not true. Especially depending on what you define 'oppression' as being. However, the fact is that the notion of 'oppression' being bad is because our modern zeitgeist in the west values things like diversity and sees things like the intermingling of cultures and religions as 'ideal'. This is not true across other cultures or history. For example; as much as we see the CCP oppressing, say, freedom in Hong Kong, to the CCP they're oppressing a dangerous revolutionary force in favor of national unity. In no way, shape, or form does that mean that the CCP has an argument/case (at the least they should be honoring their treaties). The point, instead, is that something people in places like America would see as a negative is a positive in a different culture and mindset.

NASA deals heavily in things like deep-space telescopes and the like. While this is 'useful' it's purely civilian in nature. In order to get NASA operating on a military level they'd have to undergo a massive reform so they could not only train people but develop literally everything about functioning in whole new environments on the fly.

TBH, this was the sort of thing that was going to have to happen inevitably. The simple fact is that space, though not a major ground as of yet, is rapidly growing in importance and will certainly become an important combat zone in the future. I think a lot of people who laugh at the idea do so because, to them, space has pretty much just been the place for tv/phone satellites, telescopes, and NASA probes. Which is stupid. It's like saying you don't need a navy because all anyone does out in the ocean is fish.

I don't think that's really true. Especially since a lot of the people who 'hate' him are democrats who wouldn't have voted for Trump regardless of what he did during his first term.

Edit: To clarify, I suspect that, if we had a 100% voter turn-out but two candidates who were identical aside from which party they were a part of, you'd find at least 40% of the country wouldn't just refuse to vote for the other guy, but outright hate/despise them simply for being a member of the other party. America also suffers HEAVILY from Californiaization and it's no secret at all that a lot of both legacy and social media is found in the Cali cities. Combine those facts and you get a situation where it seems like everyone hates the Republican candidate regardless of how popular they actually are.

To be more clear...

Here's the thing. The people who hate Trump are not going to vote for him no matter what. The DNC could field a bottle of water with a label of 'president' and get their votes. The problem is that they need to reach out to the people whose opinions could be swayed by Trump and attempt to sway them over to their side as well as focus on trying to campaign in areas where said people live. However the things that said people care about (economy, trade, etc) are things the DNC clearly has no interest in ATM and they'd rather focus on tightening their grip on their voterbase and focusing on fielding a candidate that would push party ideology more than anything. It's not that the DNC *couldn't* win, it has the tools, it's that it doesn't care to use them and is, instead, focusing on a needless defense.

Think of it like this. If this was Age of Empires II the DNC is a teuton player who is holed up in a small section of the map with thick walls but isn't trying to expand while Trump is a Goth player with access to the majority of the map. You could say Trump is a terrible player and is just relying on unit swarms, but so long as the DNC keeps holed up and relying on a vulnerable trade route, doesn't expand, and keeps struggling to deal with the siege, Trump's victory is inevitable.

It depends on many things, but nobody has been able to explain to me how a guy who barely won the first time around, who now has way more people that hate him now than on election day, is somehow going to win. He won by the skin of his teeth and lost the PV by around 3 million. Are the midwest farmers being crushed right now going to vote for him? They may, I don't know, but that is one group at a bare minimum pissed off at trump, who liked him before.

Actually, if you paid attention to what was unfolding, it wasn't a surprise that Trump won. The surprise was how much people were in denial over it. On the democrat side alone how the DNC treated Bernie and Hilarity's failure to campaign in certain places, not to mention things like the 'bag of deplorables' comment, really solidified her defeat. She was coasting on Obama's success and relying on being the 'right' candidate to effectively vault herself into office while ignoring the people who actually voted. California skews things immensely due to it's massive grip on the media, heavy left tilt, and high population in places like LA making the democrats seem far stronger than they actually are.

For this election the economy has gotten much healthier and, while Trump hasn't delivered on all his promises, he's made some major steps. Things like reworking the trade deals and the trade war with China will come massively into his favor especially in regards to the votes of the middle class while other things such as the DNC's inability to field a strong candidate, terrible treatment of Gabbard and Yang, and that impeachment, even if it works, is going to also going to utterly tank Biden's chances (especially since he's their frontrunner) is going to leave the DNC in such a weak position they're basically going to have to try to win by default. They've simply made a ton of gaffs such as promising free healthcare to illegal immigrants when not even american citizens have such things and stunts like Beto's campaigning in Mexico simply don't reflect well on the party as a whole (even if he's no longer in the running).

Basically, if the DNC wants to win, it needs to ditch Biden and possibly Bernie as well, field a candidate who can avoid seeming like they're a puppet, stupid, or caring only for far-left policies, shake off a lot of the corruption plaguing the party, and get its message focused on helping to improve America instead of screaming about things like how we're all going to die due to Climate Change and whatnot. Unfortunately I don't see that happening so I'm predicting a Trump win simply because the DNC can't get it's act together.

It would really depend on the individual and, because we're talking marriage, whether they could even bear children. It wouldn't necessarily be something I'd seek out, though, and the objection might be more towards the more overtly feline ones. Otherwise it's just a human with minor cosmetic differences (either a different set of ears or a second set; and sometimes a tail).

Yes, because the democrats didn't fix the underlying problem with their campaign and ideals. You can see it with how the democratic debates are unfolding right now. Namely that the democratic party is hyper-corrupt and self-gratifying with the singular goal of power and little caring for the people they claim to represent. They are literally pushing a man who is both corrupt and incapable as their leader in the hopes of gaining name recognition and power without actually addressing the issues that lead to Trump's election (things like the economy and international policy). Instead they're appealing to a far-left ideology that has them doing things like promising free universal health care to illegal immigrants when our own people don't even have that instead of dealing with things like how jobs keep getting exported overseas to third-world nations. If they realized this they'd probably ditch Biden ASAP in favor of a candidate whom expressed values that the more moderate, even republican, voters would agree with to try and shake Trump's grip on swing states and the like.

It's like saying you had to go out on a date with one of two guys and one guy, while a scumball, takes you out for lasertag and a nice meal at a decent restaurant while the other has terrible BO and wants to take you down to protest animal cruelty at the hotdog factory (you love hotdogs). Then you try for the second date and the first one offers you a trip to the amusement part while the second has refused to bath, is offering a date where you go down to scream for gay rights in front of your parents church, and is now furious at you and calling you a spiteful bigot because of your choice on the first date.
