It's a sad reality that we live in an era that's becoming chocked with historical revisionism done in the name of 'equality'. Take a look at the LA Beauty and the Beast, for example, which made multiple castle servants and townspeople black. Now, I can get behind wanting more inclusivity in a fantasy setting and so-forth, but BatB happens in France. We even sort of have a semi-accurate date guess (going by the Paris plague and war reference) and, sufficive to say, there wouldn't be anywhere near as many black people (let alone as well-off as the castle servants).

But, IMO, here's the real problem. It's a one-way street. Having a black actress play a historically and factually white queen isn't the end of the world. Wouldn't call it 'historically accurate' but hey, I can deal. But it's not reciprocated. White man plays a role meant for an asian? Do I need to say anything more?

I swear, before long they'll be claiming that George Washington was actually a black homosexual man in a love triangle with a bisexual Ben Franklin (and his back mistress) and his stilted lover King George.

I think another big problem is that people tend to compare Sengoku-Era Samurai (appx: 1600 A.D.) to early feudal era knights (appx: 1000 A.D.) 600 years is kind of a huge thing in terms of technology even in those troubled times. Heck, just looking at the variety of swords knights had available to them in comparison to the Samurai should reveal just how different the technology and technological requirements were between the two.

That's not to say the samurai weren't extremely deadly and effective. It took a lot of work to become great as either. But they were two different warriors from two different cultures with two very different manners in which to approach war and, unfortunately for the Samurai, European armor was getting so good that they were starting to forgo shields where as Samurai basically lived in a world without them in the first place.

Honestly, the European Knight, at it's 'max potential' WOULD win... But that's got nothing to do with the sword.

The Naginata may be effective but it's just got jack on what the halibard, with it's triple-options, could do.

The Yumi might be good but it's just not in the same league as the crossbow.

However, European knights utilized shields and developed the stirrup which allowed them to engage in mounted combat in manners that the Japanese Samurai simply could not do. Even an 'average' shield would increase the life expectancy of a knight drastically and give them a potent edge in melee combat. Combine that with full-body plate armor with it's multiple layers and so-forth and there simply isn't much comparison. Knight's have edges Samurai simply don't have. It's almost like being stuck in a massive amount of wars with soldiers coming from three continents breeds large militaristic innovations or something.

The Katana DOES have a mystique to it but it's important to understand that, at the end of the day, even if they're extremely well-forged swords, they're just swords and only part of a true soldiers kit. I actually find it really annoying that people seem to have this mental image in their heads of the European Knight being little more than a violent thug who can only swing their weapons around clumsily and whose weapons and armor are basically pool noodles and paper while a Japanese Samurai wields a blade that could sever a man in two with ease and is trained since birth to be a master of swordsmanship with no rival even possible along with three other weapon types. It's like sitting down to watch a sports game and saying one team is little more than high-schoolers drafted from the math club while the other team is international champions. Even if one team is clearly better they're both practiced and trained professionals who can hold their own.

The thought experiment is simple. This job is easy. Even if you put in no effort and just sit on the button you still get paid very well. However it's being presented as repeated installments of one penny. As such some people will be skewed to either see it as not paying well or being too much work for a 'small' payout since the 'best' option involves massive amounts of furious tapping. Course stopping to think about said job reveals that you're basically being paid well above average to effectively sit around and play on a Switch all day and, if you're clever, even more since you could just set your bed up so that you're sleeping on it. But some people will ignore that in favor of 'higher paying' jobs.

Dems for sure. They're often overly moralizing, patronizing, and flat-out hypocritical on almost every issue. However the most recent generation have become effective communistic whiners with no concept of reality. They talk about things like how it's wrong to stereotype people based on their origin, lifestyle, or beliefs, then promptly label anyone who disagrees with them as being a bible-belt dwelling redneck who is too stupid to grasp simple concepts such as 'morals' and sleeps with their cousins. Talk about how oppressive the farmer who spends all day working the fields is from their coffee houses and luxury smart phones. Claim that land belongs to indigenous peoples and imperialism needs to die before proclaiming anyone with even a bit of concern over immigration as being a racist nazi searching for a final solution.

Their party is so corrupt and rotten that they were up against the person who has been the literal butt of presidential jokes for DECADES now and STILL lost! A sock-puppet could have beaten Trump! Yet they found and supported the one person who could lose to a sock-puppet! Their 'assassination' of Bernie showed how corrupt the party is beyond it's utopian-sounding ideals. Meanwhile the republicans get cast as being on-par with Sith lords for simply existing. There are places today where simply not espousing democratic ideals can get you fired or hurt; yet it's the evil republican whom is out to destroy everything!

I'm not saying that the republican party is, somehow, innocent and not guilty of some major problems. They oppose quite a few things which should be worrisome to say the least. However, most republicans I've seen IRL tend to be respectful and even a bit frightened to express their political ideals while most democrats seem to be willing to mob dissenters and wield microphones to preach their beliefs. If I had to pick an evil party, my vote goes to the one that, IRL, I've seen make the opposing party outright terrified to even acknowledge their party.

In the U.S. it is heavily frowned upon to be sick and not come in especially in tightly staffed, fast pace environments like restaurant, fast food, retail.

Problem is, most stores (I assume) are understaffed as it is (to save money, I guess) so theres a lot of pressure to not call out sick.

I had strep throat my first year teaching and a doctor's note that said I wasn't allowed at the school for 48 hours to prevent infection. School still told me I had to come in because they couldn't find a sub.

If i was a parent, and i heard the school tell a teacher that i would be pissed, would rather them lose two days of classes then get sick with a serious illness.

I would be too. Course, he could have just told the students and turned the class into a studygroup so long as they stayed in the back half of the room and he put on one of those masks, but that's a 100% hindsight/outsider thingy as opposed to 'I am so smart and you are a fool!' thoughts.
