So, are you suggesting that everything needs to follow the source material as closely as possible, because of how perfect it always is?

What we're saying is that making cuts an changes is always a slippery slope at best. Each one risks losing focus of the original material more and more. One could argue that Dragonball: Evolution *could* have worked with its premise, but it clearly didn't due to the number of cuts and changes made to westernize it rendering it an entirely different product. Likewise, changing one of the more defining aspects of the book simply to appease a demographic shows that the person making the cuts likely does not respect the source material. A writer who doesn't respect it will make cuts and changes without regard and come up with a product that the fans will hate through and through.

So I have zero interest in this movie, but I am very familiar with the source material and I fail to see how swapping for an all female cast in any way detracts from the source material. It's not like the Lord of the Flies has any major plot points that lean on the gender of the participants; the whole underlying message is about the tragic and innate savagery of humanity and our willingness to revert to animalism when the chips are down. That can be accomplished just as easily with a cast of girls as a cast of boys.

I have no idea why people are clutching their pearls over this. If anything, the use of girls might enhance the story due to girls' traditional association with purity, passiveness, and pacifism. Nothing guarantees this won't be a shitty movie, but screaming that everything is ruined just because none of the characters have dongs is more than a little sensationalist.

I think the all boy cast was an intentional choice to highlight the ingrained aggression of men in particular though. When you're talking about historical/biological violence and aggression in humans, it's not at all controversial to attribute it primarily to the male half. I haven't read the book in ages but I seem to remember the pig scene in particular being almost rapey.

If the film is being made with a deliberate counter point ("Women are just as bad as men in this respect") then it might be interesting. But I don't think that was the intention of the original novel at all and if it's just a copy paste job it might feel less interesting.

I'm not super passionate about the story though so it's not a big deal either way. If the movie is bad it's hardly a problem for the Lord of the Flies cinematic universe.

Do remember, they could go the complete opposite direction and have the girls build a functioning and socialistic (because, let's face it, it's propaganda) society in which the pig is properly cared for and petticured as well.

Anyone who has actually bothered to look into the issue of slavery, both in America and around the world, understands that it's a freaking complex situation. Even today there are quite a few people in slavery or living in slave-like conditions. Surprisingly America has the lowest amount of both including illegal slaves. That aside. Historically the fact is that everyone enslaved everyone. The black slave-trade gets the most focus for multiple reasons, but it's far from the only one. As a result these people who go around and act as if the only instance of slavery was in America and it was only black people who were enslaved are the historical equivalent to creationists for science. Not only is it wrong but it's VERY wrong and actively hurts knowledge and understanding of what actually happened.

6) So... In addition to giving you my house, my land, pretty much everything I own (if I don't have family), you now want me to give you my money too? This is a freaking RACIAL SLAVE CASTE! Just with nicer words! We basically can't own a house, have to provide free housing for you, give you money, and can't even leave our stuff to family you deem 'unacceptable'. Yet we still have to work to provide you with money, goods, and services that we'll never get to see? And, let's be honest, these aren't 'donations'. 1) No. I don't own any land and my material goods already have an heir picked out with a sizable chunk being donated to things like libraries. I'm not going to suddenly turn around and confine that to a single black/brown family just because you want ti.

2) Phahaha! No.

3) Do you have any idea how city zoning, construction, and what-not costs? Land isn't infinite. You can't just 'build' a complex, especially in cities where most of the land is being utilized. In order to build a complex you'd need to tear down multiple houses in these neighborhoods JUST to have the space to build these complex's! Sure, there will be occasionally abandoned/blighted/whatnot properties but most of the time this won't be the case! And this is assuming that the properties, supplies, permits, and labor are being donated freely! Building a project like this isn't cheap. Even for terrible housing you still need to pay for supplies, labor, permits, property to build on, meet standards, and so-forth... Only to NOT make ANY money off it to even remotely off-set the cost! No one would build any multi-family housing anywheres anymore because they'd quite literally have their costs doubled! Not to mention that they'd basically have to double the price on the houses that they DO make money off of just to say afloat! So no one but the very wealthy could consider even buying these properties! You fail economics forever!

4) Except you can ALWAYS 'downsize'! After all, homeless people survive and have families. So clearly a white person having a home means he can be downsized. Even if it isn't taken to that extreme this would result in nothing more than a caste of people unable to purchase property beyond the most basic levels since, the moment they did, it would have to be 'downsized' and given to a black family. They would still have to work to survive and the like but could never see the benefits or have any hopes or dreams for the future of moving out of their tiny and cramped homes because, the moment they do, DOWNSIZE! OH! Plus if this actually HAPPENED there would be no more 'black neighborhoods' or the like because they'd all be in the now vacant houses that are now mostly empty while white people huddle together in tiny and cramped quarters. So the contractors in point 3 would be building expensive houses for a group of people who can't buy them because they'd be instantly downsized while then building redundant free homes in neighborhoods that don't exist for people who already have well-off homes and the people who *do* want them have to be denied on grounds of race (since these homes are for black/brown people only). YOU FAIL LOGIC FOREVER!

5) I can't. Ignoring that people's attitudes can change in the years after I've died or that, if I leave it to friends/relatives I haven't seen in years (not uncommon) I have no way to influence or decide their behavior... What's the point? If they sell it the money goes to a black or brown family. If it's property and not going to the family it goes to a black or brown family. Assuming by 'property' you mean 'land and/or house' (and I'm 99.99999% positive you don't) and not 'any material goods or wealth you own'. So basically I can only give small bits of property to my family on the grounds that they don't use it and now have to ensure that they haven't become 'racist assholes'? And, let's be honest, they are racist assholes on the grounds of being white.

Plus the name pops up quite frequently in various stuff like World of Warcraft (albet, they don't LOOK like the traditional Chimera's), so I'd say that a western gamer would be at least decently familiar with the name in passing.

More retro games. I know they can't do this innately, but suffusive to say that older games which aren't available through any means except physical mediums would be at least something unique.

Hire some smarter people. I was at a Gamestop a short while back and I could have sworn I heard their little channel talking about Dragon's Dogma and calling the Chimera you fought in the beginning 'some sort of weird japanese monster'.

However... ultimately I think Gamestop simply is in a place where its primary boon is that your PS4 can only download so many games that physical mediums can be convenient as a result. No amount of salesmanship can change that it's just so convenient to be able to download something off the internet and have it always ready without worrying about scratches or the like. Sure, I'm not comfortable with the whole 'you're buying permission to play it not own it' aspect, but I know I'm in the minority and I fully grasp why others want to. Gamestop can't do anything about that. The only reason they haven't gone the way of Blockbuster is because their board of executives aren't so mindnumbingly stupid.

Like, here's the thing. I'm perfectly fine with something like, say, DLC weapons. Something you can pay some money for to help make the game easier or to have fun with it or the like. I don't NEED to use the Blazefire Saber in FFXV but I WANT to. However, if it's something fundamental to how the game functions, like being unable to open a chest without buying keys which, wouldn't you know it, costs 1000 platinum which is $4.99 and you get an extra 100 platinum free! Yea. THEN it can **** off. Anyone else feel the same?

I think there is a factor which people don't take into account. That Bernie WAS assassinated. I.E. he was a threat to the party. A lot of the reason Trump won, as I understand it, was because he played renegade to not only the democratic order Obama built, but the Republican party as well. Had Bernie, a democrat who ultimately did not get party support, gotten the nomination over the 'clearly-in-bed-with-corruption' Hilary a lot of wind could have been removed from Trump's sails.

Firstly, Adam was the first man. When he came into the world death did not exist and it wasn't until after the original sin that things like disease and death became possible. As such evolution could not have happened as survival of the fittest is a key part of evolution.

Secondly, I recall hearing somewhere that God proclaimed that each and every animal was to produce after its own kind which, apparently, meant that no amount of breeding dogs could make them mogs. You'd only ever get dogs no matter how long you bred them. Because God said so.

I also VAGUELY recall some mentions here and there about how God made everything the way it was for a reason which would make the idea of animals evolving to fit new niches while old ones died out a difficult, though not impossible, fit.

HOWEVER!!!! This is important. A LOT of Christians no longer fully believe the six-day creation story and the like. Especially with the 6,000 year age thing. For example, the story of Job apparently doesn't line up with the Biblical Flood as it would have meant he would have been alive when God decided mankind was too evil to let continue or he somehow survived the flood (maybe disguised himself as a sheep) to die after depending on the translation apparently. Geological evidence is also heavily against a world-wide flood and there is plenty of other problems with a literal interpretation.

Most Christians focus primarily on the New Testament which is the life, work, and deeds of Jesus. Many don't have a problem with evolution in-of itself. What they DO have a problem with is stuck-up little snobs who gladly mock them for 'believing in an invisible man in the sky' and claiming that they are so much smarter and well-informed because they believe that they came from a monkey.

Take this from a former Creationist. Most of us don't give a damn. We just want to live our lives out and not be treated like idiots for believing in the literal six days or have people wondering just HOW we can play Pokemon or enjoy Star Trek if evolution doesn't exist. And yes, I've gotten those comments.

In order for population growth to occur about an average of 2.1 children needs to be born per couple. 2 children would simply result in a sustained birth rate with slightly decreasing population (as kids and adults die off before two kids) and 1 would be cataclysmic since that would be a 50% population deduction (and more after accounting for people who die before having kids). So... why are there so few parents per kids in this stuff? I know it's not required and a lot of things don't even show people becoming a couple, let alone having kids, but when they do I'm always a bit baffled by the low birth rates.

Tired of whites being characterized as racist shitheads? Then maybe don't add yourself to the number of racist shitheads.

The problem is that it's an impossible goal. For example, in the Evergreen outrage the 'racist' was asked to leave campus for the day for a 'day without white people' and one teacher decided this was racist and he needed to teach his class instead. Basically his mere existence resulted in an outright riot and turned him 'racist'. Personally I've been called a racist when I was trying to tell a co-worker where the customer needed help was and told them 'The black women with the red coat in aisle 3' not knowing she had moved and heard me. For the next few months she would come in and insist that 'they fire my racist ass' despite 0 racist activity otherwise. Additionally, where I work we have a bunch of black people in the 16-20 range. So when they buy cigars I have to card them. They do not like being carded. Since the majority of white people are either middle-aged mothers or elderly folks from the multiple nearby senior centers I don't need to card them. The result is I've been called a racist for carding black people and not white people despite this being because I don't need to card an 80 year old who needs a cane to walk. It got so bad I became afraid to stop a bunch of teens from stealing cigars because said teens were black. In other words, I started discriminating against race because I was constantly treated as a racist.

This sort of thing is a constant onslaught. Are you a straight white christian male? In America a girl can make a rape claim that doesn't just lack evidence but has basically every possible evidence against and have it taken seriously and easily end up ruining your life because of it. Middle-eastern immigrant/refugee in Germany engaging in gang-rapes? Government goes out of its way to protect you. Want to feel a bit of national pride? People will constantly do things like remind you of American slavery and Indian genocide as well as claiming white people stole everything up-to and including braided hair and cooking meat on a stick. Is the civil war and being a member of the south part of your culture you identify with? People treat you like your mere existence is a hate crime to the point having the Stars and Bars gets accusations of racism even in entirely accurate contexts (such as museums). Want a cake with the ISIS flag on it? Sure! Go right ahead.

If you ask me I'd say that the SJW's need a monster to exist, or else they have no reason to exist and their outrage is meritless. So they went out and made one so they could fight it and these protests are just another bout between SJW's and the beast they made.

Okay. I wanna respond to at least some of this stuff. As of now I don't actually know anything about the attacks beyond what was said in this topic so I can't really have an opinion on what happened. However...

You know, just a thought for a couple people in this topic - if you ever find yourself in a situation where you're defending actual Nazis, who were chanting actual slogans like "Jews will not replace us", you might want to do some hard thinking about what you're doing with your life.

Not really. The nazi ideology was a very complicated belief system with multiple facets. Most of their ideas were ones we find horrible today but, at the same time, they did have a few that were decent. Such as the banning of vivisections, anti-tobacco movements, and multiple improvements in rocketry (without them, no space race), film, and fashion (wanna know how Hugo Boss got its start?). I'm in NO WAY claiming that this somehow 'redeems' the nazis. Rather that they had a belief system and said system touched upon every facet of life and siding against something simply because the nazi's did it... well... Hitler loved puppies. So obviously puppies are evil and anyone who likes them is a cat genocidalist. Not good logic.

Secondly, most importantly, this is almost exactly how groups like ISIS form.

Also the nazi's. A sizable part of how the nazi party got its rise to power is that Germany, following WWI, was placed in a struggling economy and constantly blasted with anti-german sentiments and negative treatment. While shrugging off a single incident may be easy being placed under a constant stream of it can turn a people desperate for someone, anyone, willing to give them a positive narrative and not treat them like they're complete scum; even if said person is, well, a literal nazi.

This is a big part of how Trump got elected. For a long time Republicans have been mocked and made fun of with Democrats being treated as basically the cool and hip side that wants to do good and Republicans being either evil overlords, mindless drones, or racist KKK members. There is plenty more as well but I think you get the idea. In addition there has been an economy that has basically abandoned the 'working class' as companies either outsource jobs or move to larger metropolises leaving behind middle and lower-class citizens to struggle in towns and cities that aren't large enough to support service infrastructures and have a populace who aren't trained for office-type jobs (not to mention most have no reason to build an office there). All in favor of moving to large cities, cities which frequently treat them like rural hicks and over-ride them in favors of policies that benefit the metropolis while being tough for anything smaller. Finally mix in a race between a candidate promising to 'Make America Great Again' and one willing to call anyone who doesn't vote for them part of a 'Basket of Deplorable's.' who comes from a side where the candidate who opposed the party line seems to have basically been assassinated BY their own party in favor of a candidate who would follow what their politicians would agree with, and it's fairly clear. One wants to at least try to fix the problems that plague your home the other will likely continue or worsen the problem.

I'm not saying Trump is a nazi or that Bernie would or would not have beaten him. I'm saying that Hitler's rise to power shows that this is exactly how such things can be accomplished. As I told my friends and family: 'A sock puppet could have beaten Trump. Yet somehow the Democrats found the one person who couldn't.'

When I'm at work, for example, I have work to do. Slipping in a few minutes of gameplay while doing stuff like waiting on hold, in the restroom, and so-forth really isn't an issue and I'm unlikely to ever use enough energy to ever require a recharge. Outside of work, so long as it isn't stifling, it's okay too. Utilizing it while doing stuff like riding the bus/train/subway still likely won't use THAT much energy. The problem only comes when the energy regen is SO low I have to wait for several hours just to do one thing without buying stuff *coughDungeonKeepercough*. Or, conversely, it's a game which I already purchased for home use.

I believe that one of the primary problems in 'Murica is an outdated and woefully lacking school system. Especially one that does things like cut recess in favor of cramming in more and more tests. With relatively little spending and focus on re-organization much progress could be made. Courses need to reflect the STEM fields more as well as offer improved understanding of American history (as we are American) alongside world history.

I believe we have the right to have armed and RESPONSIBLE citizens. Incorporating things like fingerprint locks on guns to reduce children accidentally using them or being stolen is a GOOD thing.

I believe that the government is an overly-bloated mess that has been corrupted through and through by party politics and desires to only service itself as opposed to the people.

I believe that, while illegal immigration is an issue, they are used more as a scapegoat to cover up the real problem which is jobs being exported overseas for cheaper labor while people are re-located to cities and the rural areas are given the middle finger.

I believe everyone should have to work a service job for six months consistently in order to be considered a 'legal adult'.

I believe employees should be provided enough money to sustain themselves assuming they work a 40 hour work week.

I believe that the media has become a self-gratifying and overly-bloated beast that is in its dying throws as alternative media becomes more prevalent.

I believe that at least certain substances should be legal for people over the age of 21.

I believe that, even if global warming is a myth, one of our responsibilities as human beings is to take care of the earth and we should be putting in serious efforts to ensure it remains clean and healthy as opposed to an exploited wasteland.

I got a lot more to be certain, but I think you get the general idea.

Doom can suffer villain sue status, but Harley is also undergoing Wolverine publicity as well. Doom has prescience and is older while Harley was a DCA character that got popular, but she's grown and developed a lot while Doom's just been... Doom... Hmmm...

I guess Harley just because, when she shows up, something interesting is likely to happen while Doom has to struggle with Fan4stic.

Because people are stupid and ignorant; especially on the Regressive side.

As I see it, the problem is this. Most of these people have been raised in a society in which two religions (three if you actually know what you're talking about) are dominate. Catholicism, Protestantism, and Judaism. While the latter doesn't have as many followers in the west as the other religions it does have a sizable chunk of cultural influence and media prominence. Meanwhile, thanks to 9/11, Islam has been regarded as an anathema and hotbed of hate. Who can blame such a viewpoint from arising when the middle east seems to be in a constant state of turmoil?

However, since individual muslims are, shockingly, individuals, they often don't fit the narrative of crazy religious fanatics who spend their days with goats and bowing down to worship a god who wants them to sacrifice themselves.

The result is a perceived oppression; especially if one mixes in both western standards and the notion that the group is not responsible for the actions of the individual. Did the Israeli army utilize a missile to blow up a building and killed a family of four for doing it? The Israeli government is utterly evil because it condemned them to die! Nevermind why said building was attacked in the first place or the reasons for said family being there or anything of the sort. Did a Palestinian utilize a car bomb in order to blow up a marketplace? The Palestinians aren't responsible for the actions of one, disturbed, individual! It's likely the Israeli governments fault for providing a situation where he would be aggravated enough to hurt innocents! Please note, I'm trying to avoid taking a stance on the Israel/Palestine dispute here. I'm trying to point out how easy it is to present someone as being oppressed by disregarding the actions of an individual as well as present someone as an oppressor if government oversight is involved.

The result is, basically, a situation in which the muslim can do no wrong while the christian/jew is always the oppressor. Did someone refuse to remove their hijab for airport security claiming 'religious reasons' before being denied entry to the plane as a result? If they weren't carrying a bomb they were unfairly targeted as a result of their religion (since the government/corporation set up such a requirement/mandate) and it doesn't help that a lot of people dislike airport security. Were they smuggling a bomb? The actions of the individual don't represent the group; so the individual was clearly disturbed and lashing out against oppression and it's the fault of the government for being the oppressors.

Now, personally, I wouldn't have a beef with Islam if they stopped giving me cattle. I've seen muslims get away far too often with stuff that christians, jews, and basically anyone else would get condemned for. Sometimes even being applauded for doing it. I've seen things like people willing to cover up rape attacks simply because the rapist was muslim and they felt it would be oppressive. This is hardly the tip of the iceberg. This isn't healthy. It's like having a destructive child rampaging through the house and destroying everything while the mother goes 'bless him' and the father gets jailed for child abuse the moment he tries to stop it.

Later on Gaige's bullets go literally everywhere. Like, her accuracy penalty is so harsh you're more likely to hit a foe via pointing in basically any direction but right at them. It's... freaking glorious!
