Some of the staff have been around since the first game 20 years ago. This answers some questions about why the new games are different.

Nintendo no longer allows OCs. It explains why there are so many Toads. Honestly the first game was 90% Toad NPCs so I dont think that's a mega deal breaker in that area. It is a bummer that we might never get cool characters like Vivian or Rawk Hawk ever again.

They don't use the old battle system because they don't just wanna do the same thing again. That's fine with me but you gotta bring something to the table that's just as fun and rewarding. The latest ones do not reward you as they should

If anything, looking at what happened to Metroid Prime 4 suggests they are deeply concerned with maintaining a very high standard of quality and aren't going to just "make games" to appease the crowd that wants an Activision tier release schedule.

Nintendo has like a dozen dead franchises under the companies floorboards and doesnt give to shits about how much money they could make selling them to eager gamers. Especially on their handheld console that would a wonderful home to so many of these classic games.

I feel like Microsoft dropping Gold was a leak a number of months everyone just dismissed as crazy.

Everyone subscribed to game pass has basically been predicting this for a while. Also PC games played over XBL have never needed a paid subscription and they probably have seen more players move to PC as a result.

Call it "lost money" if you want but this is going to be a tremendous pull from Sony customers.
