Mostly that there aren't a lot of major Nintendo characters, other than villain of the week types, that haven't gotten in yet. Most of the ones that are left are B-list or beyond. Not that I would mind having a lot of those B-list or beyond types: Black Shadow, Isaac, Daisy, Waluigi, Jody Summer, Dixie Kong, Rundas, etc.

You could argue he's a Square character, and that may have something to so with why they don't do it but as far as wanting him in the game, it's a moot point.

Super Mario RPG is a really fun game and Geno was one of the most interesting characters in that game. And he has great move set potential.

Imo mario rpg had more charm than pretty much any Nintendo game and it was one of the only (successful) attempts to flesh out and add color to the Mario universe. Plus you have great graphics, great soundtrack, accessible gameplay, etc

there are a lot of nintendo characters to draw from that would have more interesting movesets than 20 variations of "slashes sword". And also look more interesting than anime teenager.

To start, I played SMRPG as a kid once. I rented it. RPGS werent my thing at the time. Hated it. Never really thought about it since.

So I have no loyalty to him or his game.

But what a smooth brain take to not see his value in the game. Hes a first party Nintendo character who has never appeared in another game and we are probably not going to see another SMRPG anytime soon. Smash is EXACTLY where a character like this belongs.

He belongs right there with all of Nintendos abandoned or forgotten franchises like Ice Climbers. Kid Icarus, Earthbound, F-Zero. Am I forgetting any?

Literally imagine not being in favour of him in the game. Low level trolling at its finest.

No company hates its own products quite like Nintendo. Like first imagine not just putting all these classic game on a store, charging a decent price and watch the money trucks show up to your front door. Second imagine not advertising these games in unique ways like putting a character in Smash that reminds people this game exists or any inquisitive mind might dig into the characters origin.

Nintendo and its fans really make me scratch my head sometimes.

They still support Dota TF2 and just made another Half Life game. They also are not stopping you on any way from purchasing any of their products. Hell some them are even free to play.

Nintendo has like a dozen dead franchises under the companies floorboards and doesnt give to shits about how much money they could make selling them to eager gamers. Especially on their handheld console that would a wonderful home to so many of these classic games.

I mean they "just made one" after about 3 years of runaround and double speak followed by 10 years of complete silence even as they featured fangames on the front page.

Meanwhile Valve's franchises aren't doing all that great either.

Well let me just directly address your original argument.

It's absurd to suggest Nintendo hates their own products just because they won't release some kind of retro mega collection for $20 or won't make new iterations of games that haven't had any real interest in years.

If anything, looking at what happened to Metroid Prime 4 suggests they are deeply concerned with maintaining a very high standard of quality and aren't going to just "make games" to appease the crowd that wants an Activision tier release schedule.

You mean to tell me you think Nintendos gaming pedigree is, to you, is a $20 bundle? Thats why its no bother?

Its not like they have THOUSANDS of titles they could offer on some kind of, lets call it a virtual store if you will. Basically have no overhead because the games are made and porting is brain dead easy.

Man it ONLY they were one of the largest gaming enterprises to ever exist. Have their own gaming platform, a handheld one at that, that these games would flourish on when a person could play them literally anywhere.

but idk if theres even a market for them? Is handheld gaming even a thing? And Are they beloved, highly acclaimed games that, in many cases are often difficult to acquire by legitimate means? Oh they are?

SMRPG was my first turn-based RPG. And I love Smash, and have put over 150 hours into Ultimate.

...but Geno does not deserve to be in Smash. He's had no appearances since then (save for a Superstar Saga cameo), isn't even the most interesting character in the game, and I honestly think the only reason people like him so much is because he has a gun-like weapon, and they thought that was cool as a child.

A Mii Fighter costume and Spirit is the best representation he should get.

And perhaps the most baffling of it all is That somehow the NES/SNES apps for switch aren't good enough just because it's not called "Virtual Console"

Yeah, same. I'm 35, and it was my first RPG, and while it's stillbreally good and I have a ton of nostalgia, it's also one of the weakest Mario RPGs.

I thought it was unremarkable but I especially didn't like Mallow's story because he's obsessed with finding his real parents at the expense of the frog and that's just played straight, there's no lesson about your family being who raised you or whatever.
