How fucking crazy is it that they are approved for loans like that without a job or anything?

If I went to the bank and asked for $100k even with a good job they'd balk at me.

CE: Avatar is hot garbage

Ebert's opinions are educated but that doesn't make them correct.

Pushpin vs poetry etc.

Ebert isn't 100% right, no one is, but Ebert's reputation suggests he wasn't the type of person to rate things highly just because they look pretty or that they're popular.

Elder Scrolls has a lovely idea where thugs come after you well after you have saved 20 times, making you unlikely to reload a save and not steal from said person.

Elder Scrolls sending thugs after you is terrible.

20% of the time you didn't actually steal anything, you just knocked something over. And 95% of the time, you're getting a hit put on you by someone who didn't see you knock over or steal anything.

I used a mod to disable that shit unless they actually see you steal something.

I just kill the thugs.

The only stupid part is you can get evidence of who sent the thugs but there's no way to confront them about this.

The only Gala character I'd like is Sarisse. I also just like the 5* boost, since some teams are way more lacking than others, especially in dragons.

Sometimes I question if I should just drop gacha entirely lol. It's just so addicting and Dragalia has its own charm I really like.

I've taken to games that are not reliant on gacha and I'm enjoying them a lot. Gacha is fun when you're lucky and really disappointing when you're not.

El Chronicle has a silly little gacha thing for equipment but it feels really out of place considering all the high end equipment is something that you can either craft straight up or buy straight up with money.

It's like there's a gacha in addition to a cash shop that has everything the gacha has but without the randomness. As a result, I rarely ever feel the need to make random draws. I do feel the need to spend money (haven't yet, however) but the things I would spend money on are deterministic. If I buy 1800 hero pieces, I don't get random ones, I pick the hero I want. If I buy a piece of armor, I get to pick exactly what options I want on it. If I buy crafting materials, I get exactly what it says on the tin, nothing more or less.

It's pretty tempting to buy some of the packages especially considering the game is actually kind of fun but I know I'll be left with this hollow feeling when it's all used up.

Like, I've been progressing at this slow and steady rate, then to get a boost for a little bit would be this huge rush then I'm back down to snail pace that I'm at now and I'll feel bored and/or hooked on buying more packages to maintain the accellerated rate that I have.

I'm pro choice myself. And yet I am constantly disappointed by the defense and arguments of pro choicers. They go on and on about things that don't matter to pro lifers and then wonder why they haven't changed their mind.

The bottom line is pro lifers believe getting an abortion is the same as murdering a baby. That's it. That's the only point that pro choicers ever really need to contend with. And yet I hardly ever see pro choicers actually addressing that point.

Like, yeah, lifers want a woman who got an abortion to have a greater sentence than the rapist. That's because they believe its baby murder. Murdering a baby should have a greater sentence than raping someone.

But choicers hardly ever seem to tackle that basic issue. They need to just stick to constantly offering arguments as to why terminating a fetus is not the same as plunging a knife into the heart of a newborn baby. Because to a pro lifer, there is no difference.

The point, when addressed, does not get anywhere because pro lifers do not really understand their own position.

Lets say you start out by saying that Murder is the unlawful killing of a human--abortion, being legal, is by definition not murder. Then they just say they're against killing humans in general and it starts a chain of constantly reframing the debate with no end.

It's like playing a game with some 8 year old that he just made up except every time you win he reveals that there's this rule you didn't know about which means he actually wins instead.

In this case "Well Bush had a higher approval rating and fell so Trump will"

That was the opposite of my point, which was that GOP legislators didn't distance themselves from Bush until his approval was considerably lower than Trump's, and they don't seem to have gained much for having done so. There's no real political calculus for the vast majority of GOP lawmakers to be making a point of opposing Trump, which is why most don't.

The suggestion earlier in this topic was that Amash's move was cynically aimed at re-election, but without knowing much about his district, my hunch is that it doesn't benefit him that much.

Let me clarify something. I'm not saying he did it to get re-elected. I am merely countering the earlier stated point that what he did was political suicide. He has more to gain than he has to lose by doing this. If his district is solid red then it is likely he will get re-elected anyway because the people there would still rather vote a republican who hates trump than a democrat.

Look at Mnuchin's seat, for example. Despite many's calls to the democrats to vote him out, they still voted him back in anyway.

That said it looks like he's not running for re-election because he's eyeballing a state governor position but he was basically in the same spot that Amash is in now.

Yeah no. Ive talked to a lot of comic nerds and the consenses usually is darkseid beats thanos without a gauntlet. And iirc darkseid cant die hea a literal god. Plus idk how accurate this is but death battle showed hed be able to boom tube thanos to a universe the gauntlet was useless

Yes and no.

The short answer, which Deathbattle explained, but did a poor job showing it in the video, is that there is no situation, even with an Infinity Gauntlet, in which Thanos can win against Darkseid. The big blue grey dude isn't the real Darkseid, he's just an avatar which is a weakened version of the true Darkseid. Darkseid has to do this because Darkseid destroys universes just by getting close to them (that's how he destroyed the Golden Age universe).

So Thanos can kill the Avatar of Darkseid but can't win in a prolonged fight because Thanos can't take the stones to Darkseid (they won't work) and if Darkseid goes to his universe where the stones do work, the universe gets destroyed just because he exists in it.

Also, despite the supposed omnipotence they grant, it has limits. The Living Tribunal is not able to just take away the gauntlet, they would have to fight, but the living tribunal would eventually win. Ergo even if Darkseid didn't destroy the universe, he would have more power than the stones.

Furthermore, the stones aren't part of Thanos panoply and it's stupid to consistently include them in arguments. Thanos doesn't have that power, the infinity gauntlet gives it to him. You may as well argue Batman vs Nebula with the infinity gauntlet because it's almost the same shit.

Honestly I can understand chasing the raccoon off your boat, the fucking thing could have rabies or ticks, but filming it and acting like it's some entertainment is uncalled for.

Same could be said about a stray dog. In fact, it's quite possible a human being could also be carrying both. You want to just shove them overboard too?

Not sure what you're trying to get at here but if I find out some dude was hiding on my boat only to show themselves once I went 20 miles out I'd shoot them.

Yeah I bet you would because you're a frightened individual.

Yeah that's the point.
