End of Season Award Ballots

This is completely optional but also shouldn't take much of your time.

The following posts contain various NFL awards, such as Coach of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and MVP. Each category consists of five candidates except for one. Most of the categories are from the game, so there will be a Madden and User winner. Some categories are ones that I created, so there will be only a User winner and I come up with the nominees myself. In rare cases, I will substitute one player from a category for another if I deemed someone was unworthy/unfairly snubbed.

All you have to do is PM me back with the categories and your choice of winner. You may only select one one player for each category.

After about two weeks (I plan on making the deadline Sat, July 22nd), I will open up all the PMs, tabulate the results, and reveal the winners, including how many votes they received. I currently intend on doing a live reveal show before posting them in the topic, but we'll see if anybody shows up.

While I can't enforce this, I urge those who wish to participate to pick the player they deem is most worthy of the award and not pick (or refuse to pick) the player for the team that they play for (aka don't be a homer or hater).

Most Valuable Player
Jaguars' HB Adrian Peterson (395 carries for 1785 yards, 12 TDs, 6 fumbles, 34 receptions for 277 yards, 1 TD)
Lions' WR Ashley Lelie (104 receptions for 1628 yards, 11 TDs)
Jets' HB Romance Taylor (408 carries for 1805 yards, 13 TDs, 7 fumbles, 68 receptions for 558 yards, 3 TDs)
Dolphins' QB Sam Keller (332-504, 4004 yards, 33 TDs, 20 INTs)
49ers' HB Tatum Bell (533 carries for 2559 yards, 21 TDs, 3 fumbles, 24 receptions for 261 yards, 2 TDs)

Least Valuable Player
Panthers' P Donnie Jones (36 punts for 40.1 avg, 28.8 net avg) (both avg and net average are NFL worst by 1.4 and 1.1 yards respectively among qualified punters)
Bills' K Justin Tucker (19-30 FGAs, 18-26 from below 50, no blocked kicks)
Wildcats' G Mike Wahle (in 16 starts, 17 blocks, 12 sacks allowed)
Ravens' QB Omar Jacobs (238-435, 2458 yards, 8 TDs, 24 INTs, 14 fumbles)
Browns' QB Sam Bradford (242-438, 2372 yards, 15 TDs, 23 INTs, 4 fumbles)

Breakout Player of the Year
1. Packers' C Jeff Faine
- In every full season, he had sub-45 blocks and double digit sacks allowed. This season, he had one of the best block-to-sack ratios with a 83-2 line

2. Rams' DT John Mixon
- He had 0 starts and 4 tackles to his name through his first two seasons, and after being named a starter in this third, he exploded with 44 tackles, 15 sacks, 4 FFs, and 1 FR to be tied for the league lead in sacks, be a DL of the Year candidate, and currently in line to make the Pro Bowl.

3. Vikings' QB Josh Portis
- Sitting behind Donovan McNabb his first two seasons, Portis was surprisingly named the starter out of training camp and became a more efficient version than Michael Vick and Vince Young were in their first several B8NFLL seasons with a stat line of 208-365, 2140 yards, 17 TDs, 13 INTs, 98 rushes for 846 yards, 4 TDs

4. Hawks' C Max Unger
- Getting the starting nod by default after the retirement of Jeff Mitchell, Unger rewarded the Hawks with 63 blocks vs 5 sacks allowed

5. Jets' OLB Novorro Bowman
- Asked to replace the retired Rosevelt Colvin, Bowman produced one of the finest sophomore seasons by any defensive player with 70 tackles, 13 sacks, 1 INT, 4 FFs, and 1 FR. The 13 sacks by an OLB might be a B8NFLL record.

Comeback Player of the Year
1. Lightning QB Alex Walton
- After being named LVP (Least Valuable Player, not Las Vegas Pumpkins) the season before, Walton starting in place for the injured Eli Manning for nearly half of the season showed vast improvement with a stat line of 96-165, 994 yards, 10 TDs, 5 INTs. He went from -9 to +5 in TD-INT ratio.

2. Broncos' HB LaMarcus Coker
- After losing his starting job to Ronnie Brown in S7 and barely playing as a result, Coker likely became the long-term starter for the Broncos after recording 299 carries for 1476 yards, 7 TDs, just 1 fumble, 29 receptions for 277 yards, 1 TD. He led the NFL in YPC with 4.9

3. 49ers' C Roberto Garza
- He missed 10 games to injury in S7 and had a paltry block-sack ratio of 27-11. He started all 16 games this season and had an eye-popping 70-6 block-sack ratio.

4. Cowboys' DT Ryan Walker
- After missing all but four games last season, he bounced back to have his highest out in his career in most meaningful categories with 40 tackles, 12 sacks, and 1 FR

5. Dolphins' QB Sam Keller
- After playing in just 5 of 19 games last season, Keller became an MVP candidate with the highest passing yards, TDs, and completion % of his career (4004, 33, and 65) while not being in the Top 5 for passing attempts

General Manager of the Year
1. Jukkie
+ Patriots entered playoffs for the first time
+ Offense went from the bottom half of the league to the #8
+ Signed or traded for 5 new starters

- Arguably the most productive new acquisition was at the suggestion of another user
- Even with three new starters on defense, the unit regressed from 5th to 11th
- Rookies had a decent amount of playing time but did little with it

2. KCF
+ Drafted and traded for four new members of their secondary after three 90+ members retired and finished with the #5 passing D in the NFL
+ Drafted 3/5 nominees for Offensive RotY
+ In designing all the offseason trades involving HBs, one such yielded an MVP candidate (Jets HB Romance Taylor)

- While the Dolphins still retained the top seed in the AFC, they technically regressed to a 12-4 record
- Was not responsible for any of the Defensive RotY candidates
- Lost to Colin Kaepernick

3. Ranlom
+ Reached 8-8 with a talent-starved team with good in-season adjustments
+ From what little his 10 draft picks played, they performed well on the stat sheet
+ Decent production from his trade/FA acquisitions, namely HB Brandon Jackson and WR T.J. Houshmandz

- They were 27th on offense and 13th on defense
- Brandon Jackson, arguably his best acquisition, came at the suggestion of another user
- Did not make the playoffs

To be clear, GM of the Year award is for what the user did and accomplished through the season in question and not for what they did over multiple seasons even if things finally came together this season (aka why I didn't include Wiz for last season). I could have thrown in playoff users who did next to nothing or toss in very active users whose teams significantly regressed or flatlined, but I decided to only go with three. The last time I did that, one of the candidates was a user who ended up with the worst record in the league. At least things are different this time.

Also I have come to the conclusion that Pro Bowlers aren't completely decided until after the Super Bowl, so I have refrained from including them in GM of the Year considerations and won't post them until after the Super Bowl

OH yeah I should vote at some point.

Also KCF, I had a thought today that I would like to do in the future but perhaps if you wanted to get in on it, you could? I was gonna wait a few years and do like, draft grades 3 years after each draft since we started mocks. So like, year after next would be 3 years from the 1st mock we did, so I was going to revisit how each team's first rounder was doing. Just a thought.

Yeah, stat PMs won't be going out until tomorrow. I have about half of them typed up, so maybe I can get the rest done tonight

Bears through Panthers have their stat PMs sent. I just have the Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, Titans, and Wildcats left. They should be going out tomorrow

In other news, the Dolphins sign DE Patrick Kerney to a "1 year" deal

Defensive Rookie of the Year
Browns' OLB Aaron Curry (62 tackles, 6 sacks, 1 INT, 1 FR)
Wildcats' MLB Bobby Wagner (62 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 INTs)
Titans' DE Chris Long (49 tackles, 9 sacks, 2 FFs, 1 FR)
Pumpkins' OLB Jason Worilds (59 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT, 3 FRs)
Packers' OLB Maurice Davidson (52 tackles, 1 sack, 2 INTs, 2 FRs)

In stat pm it said 8 sacks for aaron curry, which is a prettys ignificant difference since it would imo make him the definitive choice here.

Can't remember who I voted for in that. I think I went for Chris Long purely because everyone seemed even-ish and that Titans team is bad.

Agreed! With how many hours KCF sinks into this, we should all be able to spare 5-10 minutes to do the voting.

I care too much about this to not take it seriously and only spend 5-10 minutes deciding on my votes.

I will eventually get my ballot in!

Last couple seasons we have hit double digits I think. In the inaugural season, it was just Wiz and myself, though things were set up differently back then.
