Today, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the teaser trailer for COBRA KAI, another sequel in THE KARATE KID series which finds Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) squaring off against one another for hometown dojo supremacy. In the trailer, we see a down-and-out Johnny whose looking to turn his life around by reintroducing the teachings of his old dojo, Cobra Kai, to the next generation of would-be fighters. However, that's not exactly sitting well with Daniel, who still carries the values taught to him by his sensei, Mr. Miyagi, into his everyday life. COBRA KAI will find Xolo Mariduea (PARENTHOOD) as Miguel Diaz, a victim of high school bullies whos taken under Johnnys wing; Tanner Buchanan (DESIGNATED SURVIVOR) as Johnnys son, Robby Keene, whos determined to prove himself to be nothing like his father; and guest-star Ed Asner as Johnnys old-school stepfather, Sid Weinberg. The series also stars Courtney Henggeler as Daniel's wife and business partner, Amanda, while Mary Mouser (FREAKISH) enters the story as their spitfire daughter, Samantha. HOT TUB TIME MACHINE scribe Josh Herald wrote the script with Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg of HAROLD AND KUMAR fame. Additionally, Hurwitz and Schlossberg will direct a vast portion of COBRA KAI, which is scheduled to cran kick its way onto YouTube Red later this year.. --- |

The asteroid is called 2018 CB, and its going to pass Earth on February 9 at a distance of about 64,000 kilometers (39,000 miles). Thats five times closer than the Moon, enough to label it as a potentially hazardous asteroid (PHA). You can watch it fly by online from 3pm EDT on Friday. Its estimated to be between 15 and 40 meters (50 and 130 feet) across. It was discovered fairly late, only being spotted by the NASA-funded Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) in Arizona on February 4. 2018 CB is an Apollo asteroid, which is a group of 8,000 near-Earth asteroids that orbit in the inner Solar System, and regularly cross Earths orbit. About 1,500 of them are classified as PHAs. The orbit of this asteroid takes it about to about 1.68 AU from the Sun (1 AU, astronomical unit, is the distance from Earth to the Sun). Thats about the same distance from the Sun that Elon Musks Tesla Roadster, launched the other day, will reach. "Although 2018 CB is quite small, it might well be larger than the asteroid that entered the atmosphere over Chelyabinsk, Russia, almost exactly five years ago, in 2013," said Paul Chodas, manager of the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, in a statement. "Asteroids of this size do not often approach this close to our planet -- maybe only once or twice a year." It follows on the heels of another asteroid, 2018 CC, which swung past Earth on Tuesday, February 6. That asteroid measured 15 to 30 meters (50 to 100 feet) across, and came within 184,000 kilometers (114,000 miles) of our planet. PHAs are classified as objects that exceed 500 feet (140 meters) in size and come closer than 7.5 million kilometers (4.6 million miles) to Earth. Currently, there is no known asteroid PHA or otherwise on a collision course with Earth in the next few centuries at least. Phew. Still, the close call of this asteroid is a reminder of the millions of space rocks out there in the Solar System and we really need to get better at tracking them. The game takes players to ancient Egypt an era which fans have been demanding to go almost since the series inception. But could the next game in the series also take fans to a much-requested time period? Michele Nucera, a concept artist at Ubisoft Milan who worked on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, has posted several images on ArtStation that have got Assassins Creed fans talking. One image titled Vikings Hell, is a horrifying portrayal of lightning cracking out of a blood-red sky, as a huge ship with a triple-serpent masthead comes ashore. Viking warriors approach the ship, walking across a snow-covered battlefield with their bright red capes ripped to pieces and their weapons in hand. Another image (below) depicts Vikings sailing in longboats in the dark, surveying fortresses on hilltops. On ArtStation, it is titled Vikings Village, but when opened in a new tab, the file name is michele-nucera-assassincreedragnarok-bay-09.jpg. It has led fans to wonder whether the next Assassins Creed game will be called Assassins Creed Ragnarok and will be set in the era of the Vikings. Fans have been asking for Ubisoft to take the franchise to this period of time for a while now and so many are delighted at the possibility. Assassins Creed Ragnarok wouldnt be Ubisofts first venture into Viking territory, so to speak. The publisher also released For Honor, which counts the Vikings as one of its playable factions. It should also be noted that just last week, Assassins Creed Origins received some For Honor-themed DLC that introduced some Viking weaponry. Many Assassins Creed fans have also latched onto the fact that Origins protagonist Bayek can unlock some armor from the Dress of the Northern Realm set. This particular armor puts Bayek in tartan and fur and includes Celtic symbols, and this could all tie-in to a future, Viking-themed game. Moreover, a survey that Ubisoft sent to Assassins Creed fans in December of last year also asked how people would feel about an Assassins Creed game that featured Viking invasions. However, its also quite possible that nothing will ever come of this concept art. When asked for comment, Ubisoft stressed the fact that Nucera describes the images as a PERSONAL concept to explore an idea about the vikings life. Nucera is also a huge fan of Vikings, as there are other Viking-themed artworks on the ArtStation account that date back two years. Assassins Creed Ragnarok would be a fantastic idea, but right now it seems far more like that the series could be headed to China next instead. . . .Hopefully this turns into something for the next AC game --- |
