I think during the sequence where peter passes out on his bed after the bite. He gets some visions and whatnot and they spliced in a split second of Willam Dafoe being... Willam Dafoe.

either that or the part where Spider-Man turns around the old woman in the burning building and it turns out to be the Green Goblin

Ahh yes, I do recall that but it didn't give me a jump scare

Yeah you really have to account for how things were at the time.
Not sure if you really will, but if it clicks, you'd get why the Raimi era has arguably been the best. Even 3, with added hindsight perspective, was well done given what he was forced to do by Sony. The score and everything. It's arguably a representation of that that social era was fading.

IMO 1 and 2 were a staple of the early 2000's media culture. There was no other iconic live-action superhero actor really because the Nolan trilogy didn't set off yet. I saw the first movie in IMAX the Metreon, which was Sony's first attempt at creating their mall franchise of sorts with a literal Playstation store and stuff I mean that was a fucking time in at least that local history. The videogame of the 2nd movie is right up there with the recent game. This is the Playstation 2 era, and my friend and I would trade off playing this game at another friend's house you know, that lost art of sharing a single-player game?

One select image I remember was Tobey and Dunst at the VMA's, and he was making web-slinging poses as we walked on stage. He was the fucking guy. People liked to ship those two and they were allegedly dating. Dude I literally was dating a girl who colored her hair dark red and everyone was teasing her like "hey is that your Spider-Man?"

People were hating on that trilogy in similar vein as their own crude #metoo culture thing just something sensational to do, although in this case there was no ethical cause to start.

You take the early 2000's and there's:
MTV reality era
G-Unit
Spinners and DUB culture
Beyonce and Jay-Z
Britney's "Toxic"
Confessions Album
Shaq/Kobe Lakers
Forcibly "futuristic" industrial design (Like the Audi TT)
The iPod and other associated MP3 antics
The Matrix
ytmnd
99 cent Flamin' Hot Cheetos
The Playstation 2
And fucking Raimi era Spider-Man

You probably weren't alive if you don't remember half of that. We've crossed a point where that time has finally garnered some nostalgia.

Im 33.... I know all about the early 2000s lol

https://www.tmz.com/2020/06/26/nba-16-players-covid-19-positive-test-return-orlando/

The NBA says nearly 20% of the 302 players it tested for coronavirus do, in fact, have it ... this just 2 weeks before the league is set to kick off its Orlando bubble return.

The Association made the announcement Friday ... saying, in total, 16 players' COVID-19 results came back positive after a round of testing on June 23.

The NBA did NOT reveal which players tested positive -- but in the last few days, stars like Jabari Parker and Nikola Jokic had their diagnosis confirmed publicly.

"Any player who tested positive will remain in self-isolation until he satisfies public health protocols for discontinuing isolation and has been cleared by a physician," the league said.

It's a troubling announcement for the NBA ... the league is just days away from kicking off training camps in Florida on July 7.

The season, meanwhile, is scheduled to begin just a few weeks after that on July 30.

Several players have already opted out of heading to Orlando over coronavirus concerns ... with Mavericks stud Willie Cauley-Stein the latest to pull out this week.

Of course, several other players -- including Kyrie Irving and Dwight Howard -- have wondered if the league should even try to restart, and instead focus on the ongoing fight for racial justice.

https://variety.com/2020/film/news/ron-jeremy-porn-charged-sexual-assault-1234646918/

Porn star Ron Jeremy was charged on Tuesday with sexually assaulting four women in incidents dating back to 2014.

The Los Angeles County District Attorneys office charged Jeremy with eight counts, including forcible rape, forcible penetration and forcible oral copulation.

If convicted, he faces up to 90 years to life in prison, according to prosecutors.

Jeremy, 67, is expected to be arraigned later on Tuesday. Jeremy is accused of sexually assaulting three women at West Hollywood bar in separate incidents in 2017 and 2019.

He is also accused of raping a 25-year-old woman at a home in West Hollywood in May 2014. Prosecutors are seeking to set bail at $6.6 million.

Jeremy faces three charges of forcible rape, three charges of forcible penetration by a foreign object, one count of forcible oral copulation and one count of sexual battery. The victims are identified in the complaint as Jane Does 1 through 4.

Jeremy denied sexually assaulting anyone in a November 2017 statement to Rolling Stone.

These allegations are pure lies or buyers remorse, he said at the time. I have never and would never rape anyone. All serious allegations have been investigated by police and dismissed by judges, as have most of the accusations of groping. I have never been charged nor spent one day in court for any of this.

Jeremy is charged under his legal name, Ronald Jeremy Hyatt. Prosecutors also declined to charge Jeremy in connection with a fifth incident in 2016, citing insufficient evidence. In that case, a woman alleged that Jeremy met her at a club, where she was drinking with two friends. She alleged that Jeremy separated her from her friends and raped her. The friends live outside the country and refused to be interviewed, according to a D.A. worksheet.

The case is being handled by Deputy District Attorney Paul Thompson, who is also leading the Los Angeles case against Harvey Weinstein.

https://www.nbc12.com/2020/06/19/family-woman-who-portrayed-aunt-jemima-opposes-move-change-brand/

FORNEY, Texas (KLTV) - An East Texas family is not happy about the brand changing of a popular pancake syrup: Aunt Jemima.

The iconic Aunt Jemima has long-standing ties with the city of Hawkins, and a goodwill ambassador named Lillian Richard.

Living in Forney, Vera Harris is the family historian for the Richard family of Hawkins, and could hardly believe a big part of their family legacy, the Aunt Jemima brand, was about to be erased from supermarket shelves.

A lot of people want it removed. We want the world to know that our cousin Lillian was one of the Aunt Jemimas and she made an honest living. We would ask that you reconsider just wiping all that away. There wasnt a lot of jobs, especially for black women back in that time. She was discovered by Quaker Oats to be their brand person, Harris said.

Lillian Richard became a goodwill ambassador for Quaker Oats, and for decades, portrayed Aunt Jemima all over Texas.

She made an honest living out of it for a number of years. She toured around Texas, Harris said.

In the Fouke community just outside Hawkins is a historic marker dedicated to Lillian Richard, who is recognized as one of several women who portrayed Aunt Jemima.

And the family is proud of what she did.

She was considered a hero in Hawkins, and we are proud of that. We do not want that history erased, Harris said.

Harris said her family feels that activism has gone too far.

I wish we would take a breath and not just get rid of everything. because good or bad, it is our history. Removing that wipes away a part of me. A part of each of us. We are proud of our cousin, Harris said.

Lillian Richard died in 1956 after working 23 years for the Quaker Oats company.

Harris said she and the Richards family are also against the renaming of military bases because many of their relatives are veterans.

https://nypost.com/2020/06/19/eskimo-pies-to-drop-derogatory-name-over-racial-insensitivity/

The maker of Eskimo Pies will change the 99-year-old brand name of the ice cream treat, the company said Friday becoming the latest organization to overhaul the marketing of a product with a racially tinged moniker in recent weeks.

The owner of the Eskimo Pie, Dreyers Grand Ice Cream, said in a statement they had been considering renaming the chocolate-covered ice cream bar and popsicle for some time.

We are committed to being a part of the solution on racial equality, and recognize the term is derogatory, the companys head of marketing said in a statement.

This move is part of a larger review to ensure our company and brands reflect our people values, the company added.

Along with the name change, the company will alter the treats marketing scheme, which traditionally featured a young boy dressed as an Eskimo in a snowy environment.

The move comes after brands such as Aunt Jemimas syrup and Uncle Bens rice have said they will would overhaul their controversial imaging amid online criticism.

Cream of Wheat, which features a black chef as their mascot, said Thursday they would review their marketing strategy.

We understand there are concerns regarding the Chef image, said B&G Foods in a emailed statement, adding that they are initiating an immediate review of the cereal brands packaging.

The shift in advertising comes amid widespread protests in America over police brutality and systemic racism in the United States.
