http://www.foxnews.com/science/2017/10/04/scientists-confirm-were-not-living-in-computer-simulation.html

Some people fear we humans are nothing more than pickled brains floating in a glass bowl as we're fed a false version of reality through a bundle of wires.

Now a team of scientists at Oxford University has demolished the theory that we are all living in a computer simulation that's been masterminded by alien overlords.

Science fiction fans and modern philosophers have long debated whether the world is actually the same as we percieve it to be.

Following the popularity of 90s classic The Matrix, many have questioned whether the philosophical "Brain in a Vat" scenario may actually be our reality.

But the notion that a computer could create such a huge scale of simultaneous interactions is "impossible", according to research published in Science Advances.

After doing some mind-bending sums, Zohar Ringel and Dmitry Kovrizhi calculated that simply storing information about a couple of hundred electrons (very, very tiny particles) would need computer memory that requires more atoms that exist in the universe.

It pours water on the gloomy theory put forward by Professor Brian Cox, that our entire universe may have been created by a "super-intelligent computer programmer".

Bonkers as it might have seemed, it is a far-fetched belief that is shared by luminaries including Elon Musk, who famously said there was a minuscule "one in billions" chance that we weren't operating at someone else's whim.

The pair of Oxford University researchers had initially set out to study a mysterious physics phenomenon involving magnetic fields but managed to crack the simulation conundrum in the process.

In discovering that some natural phenomena could never be simulated by a computer, they confirmed that our worst fears will never be realized.

As Andrew Masterton, editor of Cosmos wrote: "Given the physically impossible amount of computer grunt needed to store information for just one member of this subset, fears that we might be unknowingly living in some vast version of The Matrix can now be put to rest".

Of course, that's exactly what those extraterrestrial supercomputer programmers would want us to think, right?

I hope last of us 2 beefs it up. Make choosing a faction actually mean something. Like fireflys can only play with firefly teammates in pick up games. (Private games and party games you can be whatever, you just get no faction score if you are the wrong faction). And community goals for a season. Every 12 weeks the faction with the most points get rewards, and everyone on that faction gets something (boosters or skins).

Also add in community challenges to get more prizes and initiaves like limited skins or clothing for hitting membership goals.

I hope they do it like that and do it right

And have more options than 4v4, also have 3v3-2v2-1v1

Plus make the matchmaking a little more even.

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/09/20/jake-lamotta-boxer-immortalized-by-robert-de-niro-in-raging-bull-dies-at-95.html

Boxing legend Jake LaMotta, the onetimemiddleweight champion of the worldwho was played by Robert De Niro in 1980’s “Raging Bull,” died Tuesday, his fiancee told the Associated Press. He was 95.

LaMotta passed away in a Miami-area hospital from complications of pneumonia.

"I just want people to know, he was a great, sweet, sensitive, strong, compelling man with a great sense of humor, with eyes that danced," his fiancee toldTMZ.

De Niro told Fox News of LaMotta's passing, "Rest in peace, champ."

LaMotta's agent also told Fox News, "Working for the champ for almost 20 years was an honor. Jake was funny and very sweet. Heaven now has a BULL!"

The International Boxing of Fame, who inducted LaMotta in 1990, revealed he began boxing at a young age when his father made him fight other neighborhood kids in The Bronx to entertain adults. His aggressive style earned him the nickname “The Bronx Bull.”

The aspiring fighter turned pro in 1941 at age 19. The Boxing Hall of Fame added a six-fight series with Sugar Ray Robinson defined his career. He handed Robinson his first defeat. He lost the middleweight title to him in what became known as the St. Valentine's Day Massacre.

In the fight before he lost the title, LaMotta saved the championship in movie-script fashion against Laurent Dauthuille. Trailing badly on all three scorecards, LaMotta knocked out the challenger with 13 seconds left in the fight.

On June 16, 1949, he became middleweight champion when Marcel Cerdan couldn't continue after the 10th round.

LaMotta later said, “I fought Sugar Ray Robinson so many times it’s a wonder I don’t have diabetes.”

The famous fighter retired in 1954 with 30 knockouts, 83 wins and 19 losses.

LaMotta was married six times, most famously to Beverly “Vikki” Thailer. They wedded in 1946 when she was 16. The couple divorced in 1957 and she later appeared in a nude pictorial for Playboy at age 51. LaMotta joked, “She always complained she had nothing to wear. I never believed her until I saw her in Playboy.”

Both of their sons died in 1998. Vikki later passed away in 2005 at age 75.

In 2012, LaMotta became engaged to 62-year-old actress Denise Baker, who previously collaborated with him on a cabaret show.

The 1980 film "Raging Bull" was based on LaMotta's memoir. Actor Robert De Niro won an Academy Award for it.

TopicWalgreens finally buys Rite Aid stores in a diminished deal
Scorsese2002

http://money.cnn.com/2017/09/19/news/walgreens-rite-aid-deal/index.html

Walgreens has finally figured out a way to buy Rite Aid -- or about half of it, at least.

The pharmacy giant said Tuesday that federal regulators have accepted its $4.4 billion deal to buy 1,932 Rite Aid stores. That will leave Rite Aid with about 2,600 stores once the deal is finished.

The purchase marks the end of a two-years-long fight for Walgreens, which initially tried to buy Rite Aid outright for $17 billion in October 2015.

The merger agreement faced intense scrutiny from the start, since it would have left the United States with just two major pharmacy chains: Walgreens and CVS.

The agreement was reworked several times over the past few years as Walgreens scaled back the number of stores it intended to purchase. In June, the company tried for a $5.2 billion deal that would have handed it 2,186 Rite Aid stores.

Walgreens recently revised its deal again, said company spokesman Michael Polzin. Polzin said that the waiting period for review by the Federal Trade Commission expired last night at midnight, effectively giving Walgreens the regulatory clearance it needs to move forward.

The Rite Aid pharmacies that Walgreens plans to buy will eventually be rebranded as Walgreens stores. But it won't happen all at once.

Polzin said the company will begin buying Rite Aids in October, adding that it expects to finish doing so in the spring of 2018.

Rite Aid stock was down nearly 7% in premarket trading Tuesday morning -- a change from Monday, when it rose as investors hoped for a better deal.

Walgreens stock, meanwhile, was up 2% Tuesday before open.

Hey, T.I., how you doin'?

The always unfiltered Wendy Williams dragged the rapper and his estranged wife Tiny after T.I. used photos of the talk show's bikini body to prove a point on Instagram earlier this week.

"I was just in Barbados with my husband on vacation," Williams told the New York Daily News. "The paparazzi caught me. T.I. referenced my lack of behind."

"Ok now as much shit as this sister talk about people... (Myself included) I know what y'all expect. But I'm not gon do the obvious & fye her ass up. NOPE!!! I'm gon be respectful because regardless of her flaws she's still a independent black business woman that's had to fight her way through life to get where she is," the rapper posted. "JUST LIKE THE PEOPLE SHE JUDGES DAILY!!! But I'm gon try something new & different this time. Let's see if the power of mercy moves her heart to not be so malicious & vindictive in the future when she's speaking on the lives of other strangers when they're going through their own PERSONAL tough times. That's my approach... let's see."

"I wanted to say 'I could buy one like your wife and so many people have done,'" Williams clapped back during her interview. "I could buy one any day. It's flat."

She also spoke about her booty to PEOPLE, saying "I don't want front and back. Like, I'm done with that. So, you know, I have a flat behind. I talk about it all the time. I'm shaped like a capital P… I can joke about myself before you ever joke with me."

To T.I., she added, "You know when a short man puts lifts in his shoes to be a little taller?"

MASSIVE news to end the week as Blumhouse has dropped the bombshell that Jamie Lee Curtis will return as iconic heroine Laurie Strode in David Gordon
Green’sHalloween! With the news, an amazing photo teases the highly unexpected return.

The reveal was made on Twitter, where Blumhouse also confirmed that Universal Pictures will release the film, simply titled Halloween, on October 19, 2018.

Gordon Green’s Halloween looks to continue the story from the first two (original) Halloween movies, presumably ignoring all the rest.

Set to begin shooting this Fall, the film was written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. Last we heard, John Carpenter may provide the score.

Carpenter will executive produce the new film with Malek Akkad producing for Trancas and Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse. Gordon Green and McBride will also executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

We’re really excited to announce that Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to her iconic role as Laurie Strode in HALLOWEEN, released by Universal Pictures on October 19, 2018.
#HalloweenMovie.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Master of horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.

HALLOWEEN will be produced by Malek Akkad, whose Trancas International Films has produced the HALLOWEEN series since its inception. Green and McBride will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

HALLOWEEN will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures.

Only been at this job for a little over a month.

I was told by some other workers yeah, "you'll get paid even though you're on 90-day probation, they've changed stuff from what you read in the employee handbook"(the one I was given was from 2008)

Now if it's a case where I don't get paid because of the 90-day probation thing, I'll understand but irked at the people who told me I would get paid.

If it's a case where they forgot to put it in my paycheck, I'll just be straight up pissed.
