AAI is even worse than Apollo Justice, and that's a very low bar to not clear. But AAI2 is my second-favorite game after AA3.

That said, don't wear yourself out on AA games. If it's been difficult to stay focused on this one, playing through AAI is kind of a death sentence for the series, in terms of staying motivated.

Honestly, you can choose anything to play next, and it'll be fine, even skipping AAI and going straight to AAI2. There's really only two characters that you'd need a bit of a tune-up on to understand where AAI2 starts off from, and one of them would be as easy to explain as telling you what this old character's new job is.

5-2 is legitimately one of my favorite cases in the series. You think it's gonna be just some throwaway case when you see the murderer before the case ever begins, but then it turns into one of the wackiest, most complicated murder set-ups in the entire series. It has: one of the best defendants ever, a fantastic introduction to Blackquill, a ploy to get more time to investigate turn out to be completely false (first time ever), a wrestling subplot that subverts all expectations, the first revisualization (which is a great gameplay mechanic), and a great supporting cast.

There's not much else you can possibly ask for in a case!

I enjoy the Mood Matrix. The idea behind it is kinda whatever, but it leads to a lot of really memorable (and some of my personal favorite) moments in the game.

Honestly, feel free to look up all the Perceives in this game from now on. There's an incredibly notoriously awful one in a later case, but really, they're all just terrible and only serve to frustrate you. I don't think I've come across a single person who was glad the Perceive mechanic was added to the series.

If you haven't yet, make sure you check your ship log and put it into rumor mode. It's perfectly fine to go explore whatever you want to explore, but the game's really not built to have you stay on a planet until you've done everything there before moving on to the next one.

Since I have both of the new classes, should I switch over to a different banner to better flesh out my weapons? The information the game gave about the step grimoire was was a bit lacking, but from what I understood, if you have the full 750 crystals to spend, you might as well do that one if you aren't looking for anything in particular, because you're at least guaranteed an SR in the batch.

Just booted the game up for the first time tonight while I was stuck in a power outage and FGO was undergoing maintenance. I re-rolled until I got Cinderella/Breaker with an SR and Kaguya/Cleric with an S. Was a bit surprised to see the quantity of crystals you start out with, so I went directly to the Nier banner and spent 1200 of them and got both A2 and Emil.

Now it's time to actually see what the game's like.

I didn't play it at launch, so I only had secondhand knowledge of how disappointing it was. The first time it was on sale for $25 on PS4, Nick, Wigs, and I thought we'd try it out. Nick in particular wasn't a fan, and Wigs thought it was OK, but I had a lot of fun with it.

Have you checked out Outer Wilds yet? If 2020 No Man's Sky tickles your fancy, I have to imagine Outer Wilds would blow your fucking mind.

Ron admits to wearing the MaskDeMasque outfit and how it presented some challenges wearing a cape while trying to work with the safe/stuff the body inside. The mask itself helped disperse the impact of the killers strike on Rons forehead.

This is my favorite cross-examination in the entire series. It's so funny to me. You press and get information that he wore his outfit at the time, the fantastic MaskDeMasque theme starts up, and the judge, lawyer and prosecutor are all like "wtf dude" at the same time. Then he adds a new statement, you press that, and then he reveals he's the one who stuffed Bullard in the safe, leading to the music blaring again, and everyone gets shocked a second time, before dumping on Ron again.

Just to add the little cherry on top, once you press his THIRD new statement, Phoenix asks why he put the body in the safe and Ron just goes "well, it wouldn't fit in his desk drawer...."

The characters in Danganronpa 2 balance on the line between absurdity and believability, adding up to what just might be my favorite ensemble cast in any video game.

That's interesting, because I feel like the third game's cast is easily the best in the series, because 2's cast is completely absurd and unbelievable. I like the games 2 and V3 overall right about the same, but this comment stuck out to me as kinda odd.
