Good God, two games in a row...



Both games came down to me being able to transition properly for the endgame. Both times, I was able to quickly level, get a midgame triple, and instead of taking the choice that most benefited my current team (Sneed's, Zapp), I took the riskier choice that didn't fit what I had at all, and completely overhauled the team in that direction (Mal'Ganis, Kalecgos).

You all need to go craft Bandersmosh and play him right now; HE'S SO FUN. Just got a Turn 6 Kalecgos into Eye of the Storm. Only including games I played this morning (finished on a 6-game winning streak and hit Rank 5 anyway, btw), I've played him as: Boommaster Flark, Dinotamer Brann, and Sir Finley of the Sands. I've yet to hit the Hi'reek Dream, but that's what I aspire to before I quit playing this deck.

I got to Rank 5 in Wild with Triple Reno, so I'm back to playing silly decks at Rank 7 in Standard. Bandersmosh is such a meme card and I love it. I've only been able to play it twice in the three games I've played as Highlander Shaman, but it's won me the game both times.

I had to hero slam it down on Turn 6 against a Token Druid when it became Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, and it gave me Nozari and Ysera Unleashed, and I was able to stabilize and win. Then against a Reno Mage, I dropped a Turn 4 10/10 in stats with a Coin -> 5/5 Onyxia into a Haunted Visions getting a Bloodlust for Turn 5 lethal before he could play any of his AoE.

I started really going backwards trying to play interesting Singleton and Elemental decks, so I decided if I'm not allowed to have fun, no one else gets to either, and picked up Mech Paladin. Logged in today and got the new card for it and played one game against a Rogue. Here's how it went:

Just watched the video since it was being asked about in Discord. Holy shit, that subscription is deplorable. How is a basic Auto-Restart feature considered premium content? I can't believe the game didn't get that at some point after I quit already, and they have the gall to hide it behind paid content? That's absurd!

I feel like any paid content in a gacha game is fine, as long as F2P players can get the same things eventually, given enough patience and frugality. This is literally just pay-to-get-stats in a game with pertinent PvP modes that gates basic growth materials. This is horrible on so many different levels.

...... I just win-streaked from low Rank 9 all the way up to Rank 5, 4 stars over the course of 2 days with my homebrew Singleton Galakrond Priest deck, and I'm quitting for the night with my streak still active. My win to cross the threshold into Rank 5 was a total doozy, too.

I had to fight back against a Galakrond Rogue who had Togwaggled 3 times over the course of the game. I found a turn to just barely play my Dragonqueen Alex, which gave me Emeriss and regular Alex. I came this close to following up playing Emeriss with Alex, but decided not to, and the next turn, he ignored most of my stuff, sapped Emeriss, and put me down to 2. The next turn, I was able to Alex myself for free and play Zilliax, Penance, and Holy Ripple to clear the board completely and put myself back to 22. He still came back into it, though, after his Crown summoned two Deathwings. Then I hit a 2/5 chance to kill his second one with my Galakrond, and successfully read his generated Hunter Secret as Misdirection and refused to attack his face with my 12 and 16-attack minions until I could test with something else, which ended up winning me the game.

Embalming Ritual and Cabal Shadow Priest have been pretty underwhelming for the most part, but I'm scared to change anything because it's winning so much. If you were to try for yourself, I think I'd plug Siamat in for CSP and something like Injured Tol'vir for Embalming Ritual, to help fight for early board control, but still isn't terrible to Grave Rune or get back from Psychopomp.

In a few days, hopefully I can slot that new Priest Dragon in here!

Undertale is maybe the only game I've ever played that I can't think of a single thing I would change to make the game better. Everything is crafted so thoroughly and flawlessly that nothing comes to mind. Every minute of this game has something funny or great. I swear Toby Fox had to have spent like a good two years sitting there with a basically finished game, wondering what else he could add or implement, because it's way too fucking good for one person to have made it.

There's one potential reason people have given me for liking 1 the best that actually makes sense to me. Once you realize the backstory for why DR1 exists (aka who's behind it and what's happening in the grand scheme of things), the overall plot of the future games in the series no longer hold intrigue. Instead of wondering what's happening to this group of kids, your mind immediately begins trying to piece together how this fits in the overall timeline and the mystique of it all is then ruined.

The post-game stuff in DRv3 is VERY good. Salmon mode makes it really easy to unlock FTA's, but I had the most fun with the board game. It's super grindy, which is right up my alley. Plus, the premise behind it is that you choose a character from one of the three games and play a board game that takes up the three years they spend at Hope's Peak Academy, growing stats for that character that you can use in a separate dungeon crawler RPG. It also takes place during a time where all three games' casts are attending HPA at the same time and devises scenarios that would take place if, say, Nagito were to meet Kokichi, or Makoto were to meet Hajime.

You build up characters to create a party to take into dungeons to fight for two different kinds of currency. Then when you get stuck, you spend your money on equipment and your other currency on a gacha machine that gets you different levels of each character, which you take onto the board game to determine their stats, which you then make a more powerful party with, to take into the dungeons, etc, etc.

I had the exact same thought as you during the fourth wall-breaking everything's fiction reveal. I enjoyed it at first, but the game reeeeeeeeally drags on a good half hour beyond what it needed to to drive the point home, and the final trial truly suffers because of it. I had to put the game down and just sulk in anger for a good two hours because of it.

But then I let those hours become days and weeks and months, and as time went on, the more I appreciated it. Everything about the final trial. It's a massive deconstruction of its own fanbase, and it's glorious.

Some final notes about this game being the 53rd season of Danganronpa:

• The Monokubs are actually deliberately terrible and pointless. The Danganronpa staff was running out of ideas and shoehorned them in so they could sell more merchandise and expand the brand.
• That kid was named Makoto because the parents were huge DR fans and named their kid after the first protagonist.
• In Shuichi's lab, there is a bookcase full of murder mysteries. On that shelf are exactly 52 books. It also notes that some of the murders look more realistic, while others are just drawings. They're books with the murders of the other 52 Danganronpas, and the drawings are the ones that were from the games and anime.
• Tsumugi was constantly throwing out references, not because she's a bad character (well, she is, but that's beside the point), but because she was trying to keep the audience engaged.
• This is the only game with the disclaimer that all characters in the game are fictional.

This seems as good a place as any to ask this question since everyone's on the topic. I'm thinking of getting one of the Dragon Quests on my phone. The only ones I've played have been 5, 8, 9, and 11 and would probably rank them as 8 > 5 > 11 >>>> 9, though the first three are pretty interchangeable. I checked online to see which other DQ's are highly regarded, and read that the mobile/DS version of 4 has a bizarre localization or it'd probably be the next-best one. So I'm looking at 3 and 6, also. Which one would you recommend?

Hajime in this game is actually still Johnny Yong Bosch, he just kinda forgot how to do the Hajime voice after a few year break. Kinda like how the Monokuma voice actor forgot and started this game off with a reeeeeeally high-pitched voice that slowly lowers over the course of the game.

As someone who bought Tetris Effect about a week ago and have been playing it in VR multiple hours every day since, I still barely left it off my list of 5 I sent in my pm. It's a really beautiful game, but I don't really know if it'll be a game I look back on years down the road and go "yeah, that's definitely one of my favorite games of that period." Meanwhile, there are exactly 5 games on this list that are older that I truly adore.

Oh, time for the pre-trial theory I had. I thought Kaito had killed Kokichi, took his clothes, and stuffed his body in the stored exisal. Meanwhile, Maki used her Electrohammer to steal the exisal, infiltrate the hanger, saw who she thought was Kokichi, and shot him in the back with a poisoned arrow, killing him. When she figured out that it was Kaito, she panicked and tried to hide her crime by crushing his body in the press and flushing Kokichi's clothes down the toilet. Since the Kokichi murder happened first, Kaito would be the blackened, and Maki would escape punishment.

Basically, I figured there had to have been a story-related reason for there to be a rule about only the first killer being the blackened and I was determined to figure it out. When that exisal came out in the trial and mimicked both Kaito's and Kokichi's voice, I was so fucking convinced I was right that they were both dead, the exisal was a red herring, and Monokuma was just fucking with everyone.
