He's right, though. I've seen the utter insanity of Tumblr's K-Pop fandom, it's an incredibly fanatic and dehumanising environment.

Massive bands, whether it be K-pop bands like BTS or stuff like One Direction, are mobbed by people who ship the band members with each other. These ships can become so massive that they flip the fuck out when band members are shown being intimate with other people - the same hysteric logic used by fictional character shippers is applied to real-life people. Think of Supernatural fans who get buttmad about "queerbaiting", except applied to two real people, and on a large public scale within the fanbase. To the point that two people are expected to be in a secret gay relationship, and are attacked for leading people on when this isn't the case.

On a side note, this was one of the reasons One Direction broke up - a bunch of the members were incredibly uncomfortable with the fan content depicting them in a relationship, and it ruined their friendship.

K-pop performers are absolutely fetishized. You have people complimenting the performers on the colour of their skin, the shape of their eyes and how they look in their music videos. These guys are absolutely fetishized based on their race, by sheltered fanatics who don't comprehend why it's inappropriate to fetishise people based on their race. You have people squeeing over these pastel-coloured gif edits, and these demented fantasies of boy band characters being your virtual boyfriend or letting you watch them have sex with their secret gay bandmate boyfriend. It's a similar deal to slash fiction, where gay people are fetishized by people who would turn around and drop serious homophobic slurs in a heartbeat.

I'm writing this about boy bands, but girl groups face the same pressures from their fans. Maybe even more so, because to smoke and drink is to look cool as a guy, while a woman doing it garners backlash for reducing their "pure" image. K-pop performers are put under a lot of pressure from the industry, but a lot of the pressure they face also comes from their fans. They're sexualised by their fanbase, to the point that people use these real people to act out fantasies that they then expect the real people to live up to. K-pop stans are A-grade crazy, arguably the worst stand on the internet to this day, and that shouldn't be controversial to say.

It's possible to love K-pop music, to love and follow K-pop bands, without being a raving fucking lunatic about it. I don't say this with a racial bias, or out of bitterness and hate for K-pop or Korea as a whole, or even fandom as a whole - I say this from a position that has seen K-pop fans be massively dehumanising, unreasonable and extraordinarily rude about the performers they claim to love so much. K-Pop fans are fucking crazy, and for everything they do to help their favorite performers out, they would just as easily beat them to a bloody pulp and leave them under an underpass if any part of their perfect, untouchable fantasy were to go awry.

Nothing explosive, just kind of reasonable given your perspective even if it doesn't line up with the norm.

I'll start:

Joker was a good movie, but it was too long. The movie felt padded out at points, and while stuff like the fridge scenes were fun, the movie should have shed a few scenes like it - as well as some of the dance scenes and brought the runtime down a little bit.

I enjoyed the movie, but the last act - which I was into - was balanced with a desire for the movie to just fucking end already. It needed to cut some fat. But ultimately, I still enjoyed the movie.

...I thought it was this other book I read as a kid.

A woman had a fussy husband. Every time she made dinner, he would ask for 7 or 8 other dishes because he kept changing his mind about what he wanted to eat - and of course, he wouldn't eat any of the other food that was prepared for him.

She told a shopkeeper about this, who gave her a seed to plant in her backyard. After tending to it for a while, it grew into a full sized tree. And eventually, it began to talk to her. It turns out it's a magic tree which can create any dish, and it tells her to take food out of it to serve her husband.

So dinnertime comes around, and the husband's being his usual prickish self. He asks his wife for steamed beets, she goes to the tree which produces a plate of steamed beets. Then it turns out he didn't want steamed beets to begin with - he wanted silverside. So she goes to the tree, which produces silverside. But he doesn't want silverside either - he wants meatloaf. This happens a few times, until he finally gets what he wants.

But when he goes to get up and leave all that extra food to get thrown away by his wife, it comes to life and starts shaming him for being wasteful. "Excuse me, I was made for you to eat!", "Where do you think you're going? You're not going anywhere until we get eaten!" - shit like that. So he sits at that table and eats every last dish he asked for, down to the last bite.

And after that horrifying encounter, he was never fussy again. He got one meal at dinner, and he sure as fuck ate that meal right then and there. All thanks to what I assumed was the Giving Tree.

But then I learned that the famous Giving Tree story was about a tree that produces gifts, and people take and take from the tree until it has nothing left to give. This is treated as noble.

What the fuck are with America's values? Do you guys not have stories about trees who produce sentient food to shock fussy eaters into reducing their food waste? Is all of your locally-produced beloved holiday media that type of selfish, self-congratulatory "Christmas Shoes" nonsense?

Well, my post got moderated for abusive behaviour. I came out swinging, so I'm not surprised - but there are points I want to keep for posterity's sake. I'm fine with toning it down, though.

• Even at his worst I prefer goatthief over other users - at least he doesn't have a history of doxxing people. He himself has recently been doxxed, which goes to show that CE has scum lower than he is.

• Even at his worst, I think goatthief has been a better user than the type of user who circlejerks about user drama to the same group of four or five people. You know, repeating the same "oh how sad for them :(" dog-and-pony show when they're clearly eating that shit up, and have built up this cult of personality bullshit where they're clearly obsessed with the person being moderated.

• He's hardly the least ethical user on CE. Anyone who's spent a decent amount of time on CE has seen people stoop lower than goatthief ever has.

• At the very least, I can say that he isn't absolute scum. Which is more than I can say for some users on CE.

Yes, it looks like a Unity asset flip. But the fact that it exists in a market of Unity asset flips, that face no consequences at all and espouse the exact same gameplay experiences in the long run, is telling. And it took weeks, months or years for Steam to react to that same exploitative, spammy shit. What pro-China games have been removed since 2010? Which pro-Hillary or pro-Trump games have been removed? Valve's publishing policies were vastly different back then, they could be more restrictive without appearing hypocritical. Now that they've loosened up the requirements a lot, it looks bad when they specifically prohibit a playable/functioning product.

Also, Steam already had the Postal games on it, so it was kind of weird they could justify that but not Hatred...

I can understand the confusion around justifying Postal 1 and/or 3 on Steam and not Hatred. But it remains that Steam removed Hatred for potentially being violence for violence's sake, before being met by a massive political backlash.

And my point here isn't even necessarily about Hatred. I don't know what "pro-Hong Kong" game was banned for its ties to Hong Kong's present political situation. All I know is that there's an actual point to a game being billed pro- or anti-Hong Kong, while Hatred had an external fanbase fighting for its political right to exist on Steam from day one.

This thread doesn't even present any games that are "pro-Hong-Kong". What games are being treated worse than Hatred, despite Hatred being a fucking turd of a game that could have courted it's own independent audience without the pointlessly political dogshit garnered to get it reinstated on Steam? I spoke to a friend, and he brought up the idea that losing 50kg next year could invite adverse effects like having an excess of belly skin. He suggested that I aim for 10kg instead.

If I were to aim lower, I would aim for a 30kg loss. My current weight, at a guess, is close to 130kg - so lowering my body mass to 100kg would be a massive step in the right suggestion.

I want to back this up - I was fully okay with Hatred being rejected from Steam, considering that it had enough buzz round it to sell copies on its own. When gamers were protesting Hatred's right to exist on Steam, it had enough word of mouth that it would have sold thousands of copies based on its name alone, despite being a pointlessly edgy pile of dogshit with barely any redeeming gameplay features outside of shooting civilian characters with no penalty.

The Hatred devs could have set up a sales link on their webpage to get 100% of the profits from every sale of the game, even as they fought against this supposedly unfair and illegal refusal to distribute their shitty game. They didn't, however, and banked on the public outrage to get their game reinstated on a platform that didn't want them.

Hatred could have stood on its own two feet and made some degree of profit considering its infamy. I fucking hated Hatred, and how they courted this "censorship" mob to "fight on their behalf" when they had enough attention to garner their own following and sell their title truly individually from a storefront like Steam.

Tell me which pro-Hong Kong title has been treated unfairly. I personally want Hong Kong to be democratic, especially considering the abuse that mainland Chibses officers have exercised in trying to bring Hong Kong in line to the laws that China wants to inflict on the country. Is it a cheap "free hong kong!" mobile clicker game presented by a cheap asshole trying to capitalise? Is it an attempt to unite Hong Kong protestors under one banner? I don't know what's supposedly being banned here. And in the best possible scenario, I would want to contribute to the liberation of Hong Kong from Chinese rule.

Considering that I have no fucking idea what it is in the first place, I can't even say "I'll only support it if it's worthy". What is this thread actually about?

Hoth and his cronies are obsessed with goatthief, error and "the Brigade" - you can see it plain as day on their subreddit. Doctor Who 2005. It directly sets up the mythos of the rest of the show, from A to Z, in its first 13 episode season. There are low points - the Slitheen, for one - but if you enjoy that first season, you'll probably really like the next three seasons.

Series 5 and beyond will be the deciding point, though. I gave up on the show for 7 years because I didn't like how the show changed in series 5.

Series 1, though, is an excellent blend of action, humor, supernatural, sci-fi and drama.

George Zimmerman was still a hopped up neighbourhood watch guard who disobeyed a 911 dispatcher and went after someone. He sold the gun he used to shoot that person to death, and now he's suing the family of the teenager he shot for shit like defamation.

Imagine shooting someone's kid, then suing them for making you look bad when you fall on hard times. If we're talking about a situation where he was acting in self defence, it's years after the event and any injuries, hospital visits etc. have been settled. He has no reason to sue Trayvon Martin's family... what, 5-8 years after shooting him to death? He's already sold the gun he used to shoot their son.

If this was an unknown case, some rando prick playing police-cop and gunning down a rando teenager, it would be disgusting enough that he's cultivated enough of a positive reputation to sell a murder weapon as a coveted collectible. It would be downright reprehensible to sue the parents of the person he shot years down the line, long after the dust has settled on the grave he caused. Long after debts were settled, after everyone had their day in court. Why else would you put a family through this horseshit, unless you're just a colossal piece of shit yourself?

Everyone's trying to move on this long after Trayvon Martin died, and this sniveling dickhead comes back into the limelight to squeeze every ounce of money and attention out of his 15 minutes of fame as he can, including dragging the guy's parents back through the courts after killing their son. He's a pathetic murderer who continually pushes the envelope so some conservative dipshits can pay him enough for a couple of meals.

Anyone suing the parents of someone they shot is going to be the bad guy here. The fact that people are trying to spin this in Zimmerman's favor because of the legacy of this case? Fucking gross. What did you guys want to happen? The cops to let the robbers get away with their hostage? To not return fire when getting shot at? To stand out in the open and get shot?

I dunno, maybe handle the aftermath with some tact, not some self-congratulatory horseshit about "acing" the bad guy when they're blasting through a hostage to do it.

But hey, why expect the American police to be decent at what they do? We all know they consider the phrase "Protect and Serve" to be a marketing tactic, not a job description.

damn. is IT an easy field to find work in Australia?

I don't know. I've been taking a Business Admin course there, so that's the industry I'm trying to stay clued in on. I do know that my teacher has been frustrated with the channels of communication between our campus and the IT team based in Wagga, so at least at TAFE IT has been its own seperate autonomous department working on computer problems for multiple campuses around the state.

Over 100 IT specialists working for TAFE - a technical college over here in Australia that offers high-school-level courses all the way through to Diploma-level courses - got laid off a couple of days ago. Men and women who were made redundant, going home to their families with the news that they would be unemployed for Christmas.

Watch out, if the bells are gonna toll it's gonna be in the next week.
