So I'm playing it and it got me thinking this stupid hardcore chuu2 death metal crew vs Ophelia and Owain would be so funny. Real shame we have Alfonse and Sharena instead. Enemies are already better than the first two books just for the absurdity of them though. But damn this story would be so good with Ophelia and Owain with just complete wall to wall ridiculousness on both sides. But trying to treat these bads seriously isn't the best. Anyway to be fair I did call Link second round fodder in a gameplay contest, not first. It is 'fine' but it's hard to imagine that being a huge selling point for most people. I think Mario would have a better claim to fame there-- legit arguments to be made that various Mario games are the pinnacles of raw platforming gameplay. Zelda games would be pinnacles of gaming on a more broad big picture type scale. Like if someone said Final Fantasy VII had their favorite RPG gameplay I'd scoff there too. FFVII's gameplay is super dumbed down even compared to others in its series. I wouldn't scoff if someone said Final Fantasy VII was their favorite RPG though. It's a good game! But if you gave me FFVII with FFX's gameplay it's hard to imagine I wouldn't enjoy it more. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

Most people I'd imagine are playing it because they like exploring the worlds or the puzzles. Is that gameplay? I mean, I guess, but it's not Link feeling good to control as much as the world feeling good to explore. On the gameplay front it's dumbed down Kingdom Hearts at best. And Kingdom Hearts is like, a dumbed down version of games with actual selling point caliber gameplay. That's not to say Kingdom Hearts is necessarily worse than those games but Sora should lose to those characters on purely gameplay criteria. And Link should lose to Sora on those same criteria. It'd be like someone saying Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is their favorite strategy game gameplay. Like yeah I mean, I guess if you have only played Tactics Ogre games and didn't care for their flavor I could buy it, but when FFT original and hell FFTA2 exist I'm like "ehhh" --- No problem! There's a very small chance that Link may lose this, just because on paper it seems like something a normal fanbase would consider when their main guy has slaughtered time and time again. On the other, you're asking a fanbase that would happily vote their characters and game for 16 years with minimal signs of ever changing this due it being stale. The idea of them wanting things that are fresh and exciting, while looking nice on paper, is frankly absurd in practice. Zelda will hold up better than Ganondorf because there's more of an established character there, and is likely stronger than Ganondorf out of the box, but this will still be a tremendous beating, receiving a lopsided vote among the fanbase worse than you'd expect from the likes of Mario or Pikachu. Snake ~= Mario and Zelda not taking Mario's hierarchy BS, along with a possible slight temporary power-up due to the release of Smash and Sheik being more of a Smash favorite than Mario makes the most sense to me. Mario is probably a bit stronger because I don't want to consider the idea of Auron > Sephiroth, but that match is probably closer than you'd expect. --- No problem!
