I never got into the figures (because I had almost no money in high school). I either used the cardboard standees included in the box, or I cut up index cards and wrote the names of the mechs on the resulting squares, plus little arrows for facing. So of course several people at the table were like "It only counts if you buy the real figures hurr hurr".

I played using Steiner mechs when I started, but I switched to the St. Ives Compact before that got written out of existence. Good excuse to beat up on House Liao.

That would be welcome news. It was almost impossible to even score a kill, let alone win a scenario, with Inner Sphere mechs if I had a Clan opponent. ... Granted, said Clan opponent was also a cheat (see: the aforementioned problem player), but, even taking that into account, it was a bad match-up.

Which boxed set did you pick up, Shadow? I still have my old 4th Edition box here.

Old Battletech fan here, believe it or not, but I have not acquired anything related to it since the days of the Fedcom Civil War, and I have not played it at length in years. Used to belong to a group for it, but the lead player was a complete asshole (and, later, a rapist), so, once he was gone, no one else wanted to play any more, so I was stuck reading novels and sourcebooks to reminisce. Doubt anything will top good ol' pre-Clan Invasion 3026 for me. (I loathe Clantech.)

I do not miss FFN. Having to reformat hundreds of thousands of words every time the site pushed a new update drove me nuts. AO3 is more my speed, even if I have to hide behind a bunch of alts there.

I recommending having a go at Heroes of Lucha Libre if you need a luchador fix. Available on Crackle for free.

As for The Hybrid 2, they are among the most technically proficient wrestlers in the AEW roster, especially Angelico, but it is rare for them to get Dynamite time because, according to them, they are not good at self-promotion, cutting a promo, etc. That, and being a heavy smoker is catching up to Jack Evans; he is much more botch-prone than he used to be, and he gets winded way too easily for being my age.

My knowledge of posting images has not been updated since the days of Photobucket. Embarrassing. I need to learn how to use Imgur.

That being said, I gave the shelf a thorough go-over before I lugged it up the stairs. No evidence of bugs (and I made a point of looking up what to watch for where bedbugs are concerned), only a bit of misapplied wood stain -- hardly a deal-breaker. *shrugs* It now houses my NES collection, plus a bunch of tabletop gaming books, with plenty of room to spare.

I watched Godzilla vs Kong.

The film was about as good as I predicted it would be, and as usual the humans were the worst part of the movie.

I watched it, too, and I agree. Not as good as King of the Monsters, but good enough to keep the series going, and the last fight was great.

I can answer two of your points, Zeus. First, Leva Bates only wrestles occasionally for AEW; she spends most of her time there behind the scenes as Brandi Rhodes' personal assistant and the brand's social media manager. Second, Kong only wins in the U.S. release of the original King Kong VS. Godzilla; Godzilla wins in the Japanese release. I suspect that the new movie will have the two bury the hatchet and face a bigger, badder third party. Tried and true method, really.

Yes, this is a topic for wrestling dorks, but it is also a topic for football dorks: I am back for another attempt at riding the spring football train.

I missed the entire four-week season of Fan-Controlled Football (FCF), but it looks like the Indoor Football League, Champions Indoor Football, and the National Arena League -- all available on You Tube -- are going to make a go of it this year, though several teams are still inactive due to the pandemic. Spring football has been a repeat source of frustration for me (see: the AAF in 2019 and the XFL in 2020), but I will keep trying to find a league I can watch while I wait for my Jets to stop sucking.

Rewatched The Running Man and Total Recall for the first time in a long time today while I was drawing maps for D&D (another thing that might be making its comeback after the pandemic). Seeing those as a 40-year-old man gives me a different perspective, especially Total Recall.

Picked up the Full Chorus upgrade for my copy of Kindred Spirits On the Roof. It adds full voice and extra content (q.v. the voice pack for Devil On A G String). Good times.

Meanwhile, I am not the biggest Yuffie fan, so the DLC being exclusive to the PS5 version of the game does not bother me. *shrugs* Still hoping Episode 2 of the remake gets a PS4 release, if only to see how Nomura crashes that particular bus when he no longer has the original plot off which to piggyback.

Sounds like the Deception games might be up your alley, since the whole point of them is to set up death traps. Most recent game is Deception IV; finding any title older than that is pretty hard, nowadays.

I can't recall if I've ever bothered to watch an episode of Main Event and, until I_Abibde suggested it, I had forgotten the thing existed. Needless to say, it's going to be a new experience.

I'm not sure even Vince is aware it still exists, to be honest, but good on you for taking up the challenge.

AEW Dark has been a little exhausting for me the past few weeks, since it's been running to 2+ hours, but the most recent one tightened it back up to one hour, like it used to be before the pandemic.

Steam seems almost random in what it chooses to ban when it comes to anime-style games. I sense there are content moderators who are fans ... and there are content moderators who think anything that looks remotely Japanese comes straight from the Devil's ass crack.

That being said, I have not picked up a new VN since Ages mentioned Baldr Sky, which I still have on my wish list.

I got GX at launch! Glad I did, too, since that one has since become very hard to find. Still the best version of the battle system (IMO), but the story is nowhere close to the first two games.

And we do not talk about Grandia III.
