I managed not to realize that Samus Returns was a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus. *facepalm* Undecided as to whether I like SR or AM2R better.

As far as other opinions expressed here, I am in the camp that Super Metroid is one of the greatest 2-D platformers ever made.

I made a joke on Twitter that it would be funny if the new Metroid was just a port of AM2R. ... I was not far off the mark, apparently, as it is a remake of Metroid II. I guess the "Samus Returns" subtitle should have been a clue. *facepalm*

Also picked up Collar X Malice today, thanks to a coupon ($25 U.S. off). Been having good luck with Aksys VNs on Vita as of late.

In response to your post as a whole: The C&C devs seem to make the bulk of their money from selling modules, which makes sense if you consider the 1st Edition roots of the game. Old school dungeon crawling and adventuring definitely still have their audience (... hence another game called Dungeon Crawl Classics). I do not think I have seen any C&C splatbooks, but there exists a ton of modules.

Bump-ing this because I was eyeballing Castles & Crusades rulebooks at the gaming store, only to be told that C&C does not have proper new "editions", only reprints that change up the cover artwork and tweak rules very slightly, remove spelling errors, etc. I guess that makes sense.

Anime Strike (i.e. Amazon) has acquired all seven Kara no Kyoukai movies (as "The Garden of Sinners") for streaming. ... I am impressed. Might have to sit down and have a good watch.

Correct. IIRC, "Season 3" is almost all filler. Season 4 (i.e. the real Season 3) goes back to the story as presented in the manga.

Picked up Ys VIII for Vita today. Surprised to see that NIS America localized this one, considering that XSEED has done a fantastic job on previous Ys releases. Unfortunately, there is no special edition of the game, only the standard release, no extras.

People call Link a badass, but he has nothing on Adol. What took Link several lifetimes, Adol did in one.

Return of Samus is happening in three days. Needless to say, I am stoked, especially considering I thought it was happening in three weeks.

Summon Night VI got kicked to the end of the month. I expect it to get kicked to the end of next month, too. In fact, I hope it does, since the end of September is already bringing the new Danganronpa and the Senran Kagura version of Splatoon (i.e. Peach Beach Splash, shamelessly pre-ordered by myself because I am a Senran Kagura junkie).

The folks at Game Stop also let me know that the Dual Edition of Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon was still available, so I pre-ordered that for November. *shakes head* I should know better, but I still enjoy the series.

No. I suspect those components originally existed to help balance the magic-using classes (i.e. reduce their overpoweredness at high levels), but, in my experience, all they do is slow down play and add one more element to track.

I have that game on my 'get this after the price drops below half' list for my PS4. I am not averse to pervy stuff (... big Senran Kagura fan, after all), but I am not in a hurry on this one.

Shopping for tablets has been ... interesting. Tried the RCA Voyager III, had to return it because it refused to hold a charge and decided to freeze upon boot-up after the first attempt at using it. Upgraded to a Lenovo Tab 3 (8" version), and it seems comparable to my previous tablet (Hisense Sero 8). Hoping that it has a superior battery. Next step is to migrate my apps (e.g. all of those cheap Kemco JRPGs) to it before doing a factory reset on the old tablet and retiring it gracefully.

Beginning the search for a new tablet to replace my old Hisense Sero 8, since the screen is starting to bow outwards, the pressure mark on the front is getting bigger, the thing randomly resets, etc. *headscratch* Never had a piece of hardware do all of that to me before. Looking into an RCA Viking Pro, but that might have to wait until my birthday next month. Just have to catalogue my apps so that I can redownload them appropriately.

Well, last session was a mess, but probably the best yet. If it had a name, it would probably be, "How not to abduct children".

There is also a game called Unlimited Sa Ga for PS2. I do not recommend that one.

That being said, the Sa Ga games can be difficult until you get used to how they play (i.e. how to build stats for different characters, classes, races, etc.). I recommend playing the first one (called Final Fantasy Legend in the U.S.) to get a feel for the basics of the system, then playing the first Sa Ga Frontier when you really want to see what the games can do. Or the PS2 remake of the first Romancing Sa Ga, which is also a good, underrated choice.

In the meantime, though, enjoy Suikoden II. Truly one of the best JRPGs ever made, certainly one of the best of the PS1 era.

A random thought from this anime season:

Shinpei in Hajimete no Gyaru and Uehara in Gamers! are played by the same guy (Toyonaga Toshiyuki), who also voiced Amakusa (main character) in Noucome. I thought it might be him, but it was fun to confirm it. Dude has crazy range, and he does comedy very, very well.
