the indiana jones game was pretty impressive, even if it was kind of a mess. just the concept of having an inventory of tools, going to all these different places and using them, a far cry from Adventure

It bugs me that they never retroactively made a Raiders of the Lost Ark game for NES.

They have Temple of Doom, two versions of The Last Crusade, and even Young Indiana Jones. But no Raiders.

All I can say is going from Atari 2600 to when NES came out was mind blowing. Like sure there was some moderate improvement inbetween like with ColecoVision but it was a smaller difference.

Jumping to NES was jaw dropping and I swore it was like alien tech that wasn't possible. People laugh now and would make fun of that but seriously moving from Atari 2600 to NES was a leap I will never forget and in my life I have never had a generational change that impressed me as much.

As someone who wasn't around, the Atari 5200 had some good graphics for its time. It's a shame about that controller. I wonder how the history books might've been rewritten if Atari had simply figured out the proper way to make a gaming controller with more than one button and a joystick.

I had a dream about being pursued by one such adversary, a werewolf. Specifically, it was the shitty kind from old movies where it's just a hairy elf with fangs.

He relentlessly attempted to break into my house, then pursued me to a drive-in theater where I managed to hide in the bed of a pickup truck. Finally, I stood up and he spotted me. When he closed in on me, I became semi-aware of the fact that it was a dream because I decided to "cheat" and give myself a baseball bat that I didn't previously have. No effect. Oh, I didn't mean a bat. I meant a shotgun. Bang! No effect. I meant a shotgun with silver buckshot. Bang! No effect. He clawed me, but I pulled away before he could bite me. I pulled a bazooka out of nowhere -- the same one that I used to kill the shark from Jaws in another dream -- no effect.

I shouted out, "I can't stop hiiiim!" Then I realized I was paraphrasing Star Fox 64 and it gave me an idea. I dodged a lunge from the werewolf and he landed in a mine cart. (We were now in a cave despite being nowhere near a cave earlier.) He chugged along in the minecart involuntarily as it took him down the wrong track and into a powder room. I pushed a button and blew up the powder room with the werewolf inside.

I'm not proud of what I did today. I just want to say, I was only thinking of the middle one.

Perfect Dark was a technical improvement, but it was more fun exploring the world of James Bond.

Definitely gonna go with Perfect Dark for multiplayer though.

I liked shooting the hats off of people in GoldenEye 007 on N64.

I just learned the Hollywood sign is 101 years old. I knew it used to say Hollywoodland, although I didn't realize it has been Hollywood since 1949. In 1978 the original was replaced to be more durable. Apparently it was originally placed as an ad for a local real estate development but it was obviously left up because it became famous.

Honestly I felt the 97 SEs were good. Couple of unnecessary additions but overall a nice touch up.
But the DVD SEs that came out and changed Shaw to Christensen are where I draw the line. And the BluRays are right out. >_>

The ones that they've had in the theaters in recent years are the re-revised versions with the Darth Vader "NOOOOO!" added to Return of the Jedi.

Ah, the nostalgia. I know it's in Empire Strikes Back, but you gotta love Luke randomly turning blue when he jumps to escape Darth Vader.

Either way, it sounds fun. I just disliked the way that Disney was able to advertise 40th anniversary while giving us the 90s updates.

The original or the Disney/Lucas-approved revision of the original? 'Cause if you have a slug man in the cantina instead of a werewolf, it's not the original.

I have to be honest, I don't remember the context on all of these tags. "Your property" was cut-and-pasted from a post that user made apologizing for the behavior of slave owners or their addled descendants. It was some kind of you'd be upset if your property was taken from you type of statement.

For a moment there, I thought the bottom one was the newer version. I would be so pissed if they increased Jean and Storm's busts while shrinking Rogue's.
