toadfan64 04/12/24 10:54:45 PM #7:	Goldeneye for me. Still one of my favorite games to this day. It's still a blast to go back to and has aged perfectly fine. Only issue is framerate on occasion when a lot of things are happening on screen. One of the biggest problems I had with Perfect Dark back in the day is how god damn dark some of the game was, even on my old TVs as a kid. But when I was in the Navy and on my ship from 1995 to 1999 some friends and I got into Goldeneye playing 4 player on that split screen and it was SO MUCH FUN. We knew the levels so well we would look at the position of the other player and then try to approach them from behind and everyone would be like "Don't look at my screen!" Haha. That game was an absolute blast and some of the most fun I have ever had playing a FPS in my life. I don't play online multiplayer stuff but this local multiplayer was an absolute blast. Not to say Goldeneye didn't have stealth elements either but the nature of the game leaned into no-cost penalty speedrunning. PD was an improvement in nearly every way. The music, the maps, the single player mode, the futuristic setting. Battling sims was huge as well.. --- Less is more. Goldeneye changed the landscape for console shooters, and was far and away the best one ever made at the time. Perfect Dark was fantastic, but it simply couldnt have the same impact. My vote goes to Goldeneye for that reasoning. Goldeneye was better in 1997 than Perfect Dark was in 2000.
