I take it this is a joke topic, but we probably should be wary of companies like Amazon and Google that seem like they're closing in on monopolizing influence in their respective fields.

I mean, when Google controls the results of their search engines and their search engine is the only one most people use, that gives them a significant level of influence over information distribution.

I'm not saying their evil, of course, just that people should be wary of large, multinational businesses having such a strong grasp on the access to information the public has.

My wife's aunt has hoarder tendencies. She was a crazy cat lady who wasn't the most diligent about cleaning up after her pets too. I went to her place once and it was revolting. Trash and dirty dishes, a bunch of cats, the smell was nauseating, and there were a lot of little roaches running around.

She lives with us now and we don't allow cats in doors, but she's got a half dozen she feeds outside. Supposedly to keep rodents and pests away. Her closet is packed with a bunch of stuff and her room is really cluttered.

Brigandine: Legend of Forsena.

It was an obscure Atlus game way back on the PS1. You pick one country to play as (Norgard, Iscalio, Carleon, New Almekia, Leonia, or Esgares Empire).

You have to conquer all other nations on the continent by capturing all enemy castles in turn-based battles in which you field your rune knights, of which there are varying classes (barbarians, samurai, mages, clerics, valkyrie, etc) and the summoned monsters they can control (dragons, wyverns, vampires, angels, Holmes, etc). You win a battle by eliminating the opponent's rune knights.

The game was really pretty simplistic and easy and there were hints at a deeper storyline that never really go anywhere (like a sorceror named Bulnoil who shows up when you defeat Esgares Empire and prove to be much more powerful than anyone else and wants to revive some world ending serpent, but doesn't really show up again even when you beat the game). But teenage me really enjoyed playing the game with every nation.

i don't dispute that its broad wording allows for shitshows such as this one to occur, and even the title IX director under obama had been trying to push against the manner universities started enforcing it in some cases.

I think he is being hyperbolic because a lot of Title IX cases that are publically reported on seem more like witch hunts that turn out to be false claims. A lot of which seems to go back to that Dear Colleague letter from a couple years ago that, as I've heard, set the stage for the Title IX abuses.

It varies slightly by context. The common thread is people who are red pilled believe they see how things really are in ways that people don't typically acknowledge.

Some people say profane things when upset. Just saying the N-word isn't indicative of racism. Unless he starts casually referring to black people as N-words, I'll file this under no big deal.

I remember I worked with some rednecks a few years ago. They referred to everyone as N-words. Hard R. Each other, other white guys, hispanics, black people, asians, etc. Just everyone. It was a bit disconcerting at first to hear it said so liberally and out of the context you'd expect. Granted, some of them were explicitly racist.

Her skillset ignores Faith

Not quite. Rafa's is the opposite of Malak's, high Faith increases damage instead of low Faith.
Malak's low Faith makes him resistant to Oracle/Mystic debuffs too.

Also, there are 2 status effects; "Faith" and "Innocent" (Names may be changed in WotL) that give you effectively 0 Faith or 100 Faith. But there was an overflow-like error, where these statuses affect Rafa and Malak the opposite way they should; IE if Rafa was "Innocent" (0 Faith) it would act like she had 100 Faith. Not sure if this was fixed in WotL.

Innocent can be hard to get, but there is a Faith Rod that gives the user auto-Faith.

Additionally worth noting, if a unit has too high of Faith (like 90s, except Ramza) they will leave your party. Similarly; low Brave in the teens or less. Low Brave is still a good idea though because of MoveFindItem/TreasureHunter.

Sorry, but you're mistaken. While Malak's Nether Mantra spells require low Faith on himself and his target to maximize his damage output, Rafa's Sky Mantra ignores Faith entirely. She's not the opposite of Malak. That's a misconception.

Normal Magick (from Blac Mages, Summoners, etc) requires high Faith on the caster and target. Nether Mantras require the opposites: low Faith. Sky Mantras ignore both.

I didn't know that. That's pretty cool

I haven't spent a lot of time with the game, but I do remember those skills being terrible. I thought the idea was good, and if they've made them better, then that's great

They also significantly increased the odds of the spells hitting the center tile. So, at high end play, Rafa can actually get several high damage hits and potentially outdamage any other character. It's a bit of a gamble though.

Malak still sucks compared to his sister. She has naturally higher MA because she's a woman, she has access to female-only accessories, and her skillset ignores Faith, while his requires both his AND his target's Faith to be low to deal more damage. Also, having low Faith means he get a healed next to nothing by White Magick and buff spells are unlikely to hit him.

Men and women deal with different societal disparities.

For example, boys are less likely to graduate high school, more likely to drop out, and less likely to attend or graduate college. Boys also tend to be graded and disciplined more harshly than their girl peers.

Similarly, men are punished more harshly and more often in the justice system for the same crimes. The disparity between the sexes is greater than the disparity between races.

There is that too. If you have previous entries in a series that gamers already loved, it's not surprising they'd be annoyed at newer entries changing up the formula too much. That whole "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" thing.

You can see that with gamers who say they won't buy the FF7 Remake if it doesn't use the ATB system.

I think, in at least some cases, it's because as the developers get bigger, they start trying to broaden the appeal of their product. Now, technically, there's nothing wrong with wanting more people to buy and play their games, but that often seems to come at the expense of the esoteric aspects of the games that made the gamer fans love their games in the first place.

It's that common complaint that games get dumbed down to appeal to more people.
