Yugioh doesn't have as clear parallels to Mewtwo (single strongest original Pokemon) and Charizard (single most popular 'badass' original Pokemon).

My suggestion would be Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning. BLS was Yugi's 8-star monster with the same ATK/DEF as Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Envoy was an extremely powerful non-ritual version and was part of the first banlist ever in Yugioh. Nearly decades later it went from 0 to 1 and saw a lot of meta play, whereas Blue-Eyes has never really come back except for a format where it got a ton of new support with the "Eyes of Blue" archetype. And even then there's no splash-able BEWD like there is BLS.

Pretty sure the first legal printing of a god was Obelisk the Tormentor and while he has decent anti-targetting and anti-Solemn protection, he still needs 3 tributes for a normal summon, dies if special summoned, can't attack and use his destruction effect at the same time, and is easily outed by non-targeting removal. I'm pretty sure he never saw meta play.

Metal Gear Solid 3 was the first 'serious' game I played (COD doesnt count) and the ending twist destroyed me. Not only that, but 12 y/o me did not see coming that "The Boss" would lead into the title "Big Boss".

The final killer in Ace Attorney 5 was so surprising to me I couldn't believe it and thought the game was suggesting a dead character did it. Before that, the twist in 2-2 that it had been the other sister in the driver's seat astounded me. It's telegraphed well enough but I was young enough not to put the pieces together until the climactic moments Phoenix does.

This level ("Out at Sea") is an Extra level but bears no resemblance to the one it connects to. This one feels impossible. You need to be able to unlock the door by pushing an ice block but then be able to push lava down into the box. You only have one IF block so only one of them can be pushed at once. And there's a one-way so once you pass the belt you can't adjust them, and there's not enough space in the little area to bring a statement with you

Oh yeah. This also gave me pause. I saw someone mention it on Twitter too. People gotta expand the drama and it always leads back to GameGrumps somehow... Ever since I saw DingDong's stream about fan drama scrutiny and the toll it takes on even the victims I try to be skeptical when I see it.

Basically I'm just imagining there's a universe where this is just blatant fraud vs a universe where running this stuff is hard and confusing for some people and could be a "teachable moment" for other community leaders.

Part of my caution is that as soon as a video like this is released, the narrative moves into the hands of the mob immediately.

I can think of several different types of canceling this year that went from accusation, to flash-fire style mob of hate and fighting online, to the accused coming out with receipts and alternate story that conceded some of the blame yet showed a more nuanced story, one that didn't merit the narrative that had spiraled out of control.

I think the most recent was the DBZ / Yugiog comedy dub guys, and there were those SuperMega people for example.

There's an element of these allegation social media cycles that is just destructive for the sake of voyeuristic entertainment that I don't like. A big group of people that move from one possible scandal to the next and they live to burn people. So that's why I try to maintain neutral until some more time passes, those junkies move on, and more evidence comes out that confirms what we think happened or not.

Incompetence/negligence vs reckless/intentional can in fact change what somebody is charged with. But besides that, it certainly can affect how strongly we condemn him for it. Was he a gamer dweeb over his head or was he literally planning to steal hundreds of thousands of charity money? There is an ocean of difference.

I'm making no excuses for him and have no attachment for him. I just don't want to be part of an overzealous internet mob, because if it was incompetence, I can imagine many youtubers this could potentially happen to. Who thought it'd be easy to do something good and screwed it up.

The idea in a nutshell is that when advancing through the same company there may be a pay structure where you only get a percentage of your last salary as a raise however many new responsibilities you take on, which can leave you falling way behind what they'd pay an external hire to secure them to the position . For the people not understanding why this is controversial, its like after George Floyd coming out with a scathing video against BLM. Even if you have good points its going to upset people when Jewish people are hurting and feeling nervous and victimized and feeling like the world is against them. Except in this case there are both sides of the conflict who are at risk groups and the other side feels the exact same way and both sides can make a case for it. It's an incredibly messy conflict and the only thing we can all agree on (most of us, anyway) is being Anti-Hamas

I would not have chosen that analogy. And while of course it is a messy conflict, that's in no way reason to give up trying to understand or discuss it, and protecting people's feelings isn't a reason to be quiet during war crimes. John Oliver lays out a very solid and evidenced line of reasoning how Netanyahu's government takes a lot of blame here and why the US standing behind Israel's current methods is wrong. It's not an option to do some sort of agree-to-disagree thing here where everyone says "at we least all dislike Hamas" because one faction is explicitly using that as an excuse for war crimes against civilians, and they must be challenged and stopped.

If that was true, then the US would not have funded homicidal regimes in countries such as Indonesia in the past decades. The US funds Israel because it's a useful geopolitical outpost. That doesn't mean we have to turn a blind eye to its crimes
