The more and more I see the hard work that people put into the making this movie. It is just sickening. Arist, Tech people, craft services, ect people put a lot into this, and then just say sorry we just wanted you to do this for a tax write off is just maddening. But they are WB, they own DC. They can't be stopped.

As much as I hate to say it, Zaslav seems to only be interested in profit margins sadly.

Given how badly the Flash did after WB kept it while canning the already finished Batwoman film, I figure theyre likely wary of taking any risks that they cant be sure of the potential outcome of.

Shame really as it sounds like an interesting spin on the classic cartoon.

yeah, based on what I've seen, this looked better than a lot of WB's recent movies that have been released.

Its the same kind of shit that goes into Netflix canceling popular series after 2 seasons. This kind of shit wouldn't happen if the actual workers who produced this stuff owned these industries.

its not just wb, pretty much every major entertainment company is like this these days.

Why the fuck they're trying to scrub it? They already killed it.

i mean, they would still have to invest how much in marketing and promotion? and that's not including all the deals with theaters and streaming services. at some point the money isn't worth it, especially if it looks to cost more than it'll ever actually make.

if you spend a lot making it, then spend a lot getting out and it never generates much of a profit, isn't it literally all just a giant loss? or you can shelve it and not lose a ton of money. idk, makes sense.

The issue is the specific tax rule that lets them write off the cost of the project on the condition that they can never use any of the stuff that was made. So all the people who spend like two years+ on the animation and music etc now have a giant gap in their portfolio.

If the tax rule didn't work like that or didn't exist, then they'd probably release the movie in some form because there would no longer be an incentive to do nothing with it.

Basically our corporate accounting laws artificially create a reason for them to destroy finished art. It's stupid

This could have been so good. The idea of a full length movie about Wiley Coyote is something I would watch.

This seemed like an amazing concept, so greed killing a cool idea seems pretty par for the course, sadly...

This makes absolutely no sense. Unlike the other movie they buried this one was testing great with audiences.

And with the strikes just ended, you would think they would want to have a ready to go movie for the gap they will have until new stuff is ready to go.

People were laughing when this happened to Batgirl as no one wanted the Batgirl movie. I wasn't laughing and knew that wouldn't be the end of it.

I don't remember many people laughing about it. Excluding Batgirl, Michael Keaton and Brendon Frasier were in the movie, and a lot of people wanted to see them.

I'm excited that this movie has a chance. Someone just has to buy the distribution rights now. Hopefully, one company will take the gamble to see if the internet will make for a good advertising campaign.

I wanted to see Batgirl. I think rumor is it was actually pretty good. And the cast is depressed that their work was thrown in a vault

I'm so worried that the same thing will happen to The Day the Earth Blew Up.

If a company can't figure out how to make money from Looney Tunes movies that are mostly made that's gotta be some cheap or bad management.
