If a 12 year old game is your most demanding, then most decent laptops should play it. I would error on the higher end since "I just want to play X on it" usually leads to "Why can't I play game that is 5 times more demanding than X?" a year or two down the road. A gaming laptop might not be a bad idea since you can get some decent ones for less than the price of a new graphics card. Steam Deck is also an option if you don't mind messing around with dev mode to do anything other than play Steam games.

If you don't have and do need a coffee table, coffee table. I'm guessing you've already considered that, though, and otherwise it sounds like the liquor cabinet will be your best bet.
I already have a coffee table, but I am in the process of remodeling my living room. I hadn't considered getting a new coffee table since I like the design of the one I have, but it is just a table. No actual storage. It also doesn't have the adjustable top like this one has which is a nice addition. Would mean I don't need my couch PC setup.

Leaning towards the Liquor Cabinet since I am getting quite the collection of bottles (Spirits, Liquors, wine), and various bar tools. I always felt that non-realistic games age way better. Go back and play some "realistic" games from just a few generations ago and you will see what I mean. Meanwhile, the games that went with a more unique art style look way better even under a modern lens.

It is like CGI vs. animatronics for movies. CGI from even 10 years ago looks really bad, but movies that used animatronics from the 80's still look good today.

There really needs to be legislation holding sites responsible for damages caused by ads they run. That companies will insist that it's not their fault that their advertisers distributed malware then turn around and whine about users blocking ads is really just pathetic.

I think we are well and truly past this point, but if ads where basically what they were back in the mid-late 90's (just one or two banner ads that a site got money for every click), I wouldn't use an ad blocker. In my eyes, ad blockers are a requirement so I don't need to buy a new computer every 6 months, not a "nice to have".

Speaking of middle/high school: There was this guy I used to go to school with who was mostly quiet, until you talked to him about subjects that interested him, then he would go on these long winded, rambling rants. He was tall, glasses, always wore a Tool shirt (probably owned like 20 or 30 of him) and despite the fact that he was way smarter than anyone else in school, he pretty much spent all of his teens and 20's in college. In fact even though he was 2 or 3 years older than me, he was still in some of my college classes because he just wanted to take the same classes over and over again to prove how smart he was.

I always imaged that was PO.

Have heard of people buying dashcams cause other people in car accidents won't admit fault

She backed into my car when it was, or all intents and purposes, parked. I had just started it up and was about to move it when she tapped the back end. Again, I wasn't going to involve insurance since it was just a tiny scratch that was barely noticeable, but she was trying to blame it on me. The only reason I could think was that she was going to try and get me to pay the $20 to cover up the scratch on her car? IDK.

She tried to pull the "It's not my fault!" card and I basically snapped at her and told her to call the police and have them get a statement if she was so sure of herself. She ended up calling her husband who, after hearing us both out, essentially agreed with me. Stupid thing was it was just a scratch on both our cars and I wasn't going to involve insurance anyways since the time and paperwork was more effort then just covering it with some touchup paint. She just pissed me off by trying to blame everything on me when it was clearly her fault.

I think this was in either 9th or 10th grade, I had a friend who would bring an apple for lunch every day, fill it with random substances (milk, applesauce, soup, chili, etc.), then we would go to the stair well just outside the cafeteria and throw it against the wall above the stairs just so we could see it splatter and drip down onto the stairs. Did this for months and never got caught or in trouble.

The last time we did it, he brought a bottle of blue modeling paint. So we filled it with that and threw it against the wall. Paint splatter was there for the rest of the year, they didn't even try to paint over it until summer break.

As much as I love using a dishwasher, I could absolutely live without one and just wash by hand if I needed to. My dad has never used a dishwasher in the last 40-50 years, he just washes all of his dishes by hand every night.

I usually use it spending a day at the soup kitchen for the nearby shelter, or helping an elderly person clean their house. It's weird; when I watch a YouTube video or play a game on my phone with Bluetooth headphones, I can notice a clear delay between what I'm seeing and hearing. But when I play a game with a Bluetooth controller, I don't notice any kind of input delay.

They are using better technology in the controllers then in headphones. An audio delay is not a dealbreaker, most people can accept it for the convenience of bluetooth. The same is not true for controllers, any noticeable delay (outside of pro players, who will spend hundreds of dollars on a high-end controller anyways so they aren't the target market) would absolutely kill any benefit to them being wireless.

The problem with Duke is if Forever came out and they played him up more as a 90s relic, it could have been funny, as opposed to just doing the same dated humor.

He is a parody of 80's action movies, all his quotes are stolen from Army of Darkness and They Live, his voice is basically a bad Dirty Harry impression, etc. He is dated even by 90's standards. That is what made him funny. He is the embodiment of "1985" from Bowling for Soup.

The issue with Duke is more the "sexism" that just wouldn't fly today (and is the main thing most people complained about with Duke Nukem Forever).

Duke Nukem 3D. I don't think I need to say why.

Sure, we will have homages to it like Ion Fury and Turbo Overkill, but we aren't getting a new Duke Nukem game.

Just finished up Wolfenstein (2009) on Monday, Tuesday was D&D night for me, so looking for something quick to play while waiting for Mario Vs. Donkey Kong. Should I play:

Wolfenstein (2009) - Play it again, but on the hardest difficulty (originally played on 2nd hardest, it wasn't that bad until the end)
Prey (2006) - The only "ID Tech 4" game left I haven't played.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - Next Wolfenstein game I haven't beaten.
WWE 2K23 - Random game from my Steam backlog
Destroy All Humans! - Beat this one before I get Destroy All Humans! II in the next Humble Choice.
F-Zero 99 - Play it more seriously to try to get better at it.
Some random game on Switch Online - Something on there, who knows.

I never found that owning a home was more work than renting. That said, I bought a brand new house and the company that built had to come and sort out anything that went wrong with it for the first ten years, and I only lived there for three.
So you have the benefits of renting without any of the dealing with a landlord BS?

I have had my house for almost 13 years at this point, and I have had to replace every appliance in it except the heater (likely will be replaced this summer since it is 24 years old), the washer (likely needs to be replaced since it leaks water ever time I use it) and the dryer (Dryer will probably last forever, although I did replace the belt on it a few years back). I also have to replace the deck, and in a few years probably the roof.

That said, despite all of that, I still would never rent again.

A little. It seemed like Microsoft buying up companies like Bethesda and Obsidian was their big play to get some exclusive, system sellers.

It is actually the opposite. They want to get out of the hardware business and into the "game service" business. Microsoft buying up a bunch of studios is just a way for them to push XBox Game Pass by making games available on that. If they could make XBox Game Pass for Playstation, they would in a heartbeat. Sony won't allow it though, so in the meantime they will just release the games on Playstation as traditional physical/digital releases.

Nothing is on switch. 10 year old slow ass GPU that can't run anything. Even cell phone games are too much for it.
And yet it can run Doom Eternal.

There is more money to be made in making a game multi-platform then keeping it exclusive. So no, not surprised at all.

I am more surprised when companies stubbornly keep games platform exclusive because apparently they hate making money.

Gotcha

I'm firing up some games now so ill check mem usage when it starts getting choppy.

You reckon I should uninstall my graphics drivers then reinstall?
Only if they are truly corrupted, just because it can be a bit of a pain. Big thing though is checking memory usage. 16GB is kind of on the low end, so maybe up that if possible?
