i really dont get some of the responses here. just because the guy got killed doesnt magically stop him from being a "good guy with a gun" nor does stop him from being a hero who potentially saved a lot of lives for his own.

this is something that IS taught (or explained) in most CCW classes and most know the risks over. if you want to roll those dice then its on you. i also dont like the (ironic) defending of the police here either whos first line of thought was to start blasting. thats not how the training used to be.

I think she's talking about gun-related homicides, not just mass shootings.
which is also not something id worry about in terms of winding up shot unless youve grieved someone or are in a gang. almost all firearm homicides are from individuals who know each other. domestic issues, gang/drug warfare ect. worse case scenario you might end up as collateral, but even then thats probably even a lower statistic than the lightning one.

2 people shot is also not considered a mass shooting.

I get anxiety even going out in public here anymore. I've seen countries put travel advisories up for the US due to our political violence and gun violence. It's really sad what's going on in this shit hole country.
which is rather unfortunate considering the statistical likelihood of you actually getting killed in a indiscriminate mass shooting. its somewhere on par with getting hit by lightning.

generally speaking...
REmake 1 is the best representation of the classic design. if you want more atmosphere, puzzles, item management and in general a lot more systems within the design to keep track of (kinda like a more involved old school adventure game). 4 is where the action took center stage and for the most part is the one that excels the best in it while also still keeping certain aspects of the older ones though putting them more on the back burner in comparison. 7 does a mixture of both while doin gits own thing like combining the first person view with a more "modern" horror take. REmake 2 is kinda similar in that regard as far as combining old aspects with modern controls while pulling them off (imo) better than 7, but REmake 2 isnt as self contained story wise as 7 is so maybe not as quite as noob friendly.

starting at one of those 3 points tends to be ideal depending on what you want more of. they tend to be self conatined enough and expanding on the next games in the series (like 8 playing off of 7 more, REmake 2 and 3 off of REmake 1, 5 and 6 off of 4 ect. rather than having any huge connections to much older titles in the series) that you also dont need to know too much of whats come before.

the most iv ever felt unsafe around people with guns were at public ranges where they might feel like they have free range to do a lot of stupid shit.

im assuming youd like a snub nose. not really cheap, but i really like the Kimber K6s' and of course smith and wesson makes a lot of nice ones with some class to them and S&W carries a lot of collect-ability. the Ruger LCR is probably the best carry revolver on the market if you wanted to do so and their sp101's, while not particularly fancy are little tanks if you wanted a rugged woods gun. if its something youre not going to be putting thousands of rounds through and dont want to break the bank then maybe look to taurus like their 605's.

If not us then someone else with other real power will. Id like to think the US is preferable over Russia or China in that regard. Most likely youd also be talking about less bill fitting to NATO and protections which would also force most countries to pay more for defense which means less money to go into those contries social systems (which would most likely mean a dip in QoL).

eh, it was alright. they neutered the zombies. nemesis was a joke and didnt feel as threatening or persistent and they fucked up the drops as well. they cut atleast 1-2hours worth of content. the alternate scenarios went bye bye. and they pulled the forced progression that many action games do now and lock you out of areas (the original had a few points of no return, btu nothing like the remake).

Everything Ive seen is that the Glock 19 is like the holy pistol of reliability and quality.

Plenty of people said its 100% fine to shoot right out of the box and the factory grease is fine to leave alone and start shooting.
reliability is good as long as the magazines and ammo hold up (glock produced magazines are notoriously reliable though). id personally take it apart and clean it just because a lot of factory grease tends to be thicker in order to keep the gun from rusting while just sitting around waiting to be sold. it can lead to the gun being gunked up faster through carbon residue (from the ammunition) build up. they are reliable, but like anything else you get enough residue built up and it will jam.

"quality" is pretty subjective though. their good middle of the road utility guns for what they are, but do tend to be over priced in comparison to a lot of other stuff out there due to glock having a reputation (kinda like Colts).

I like how you intentionally came up with the dumbest weapon because you knew your point was weak
weapons tend to come down to the actual individual and their surroundings. most likely melee or short range focused. bats, knives, maybe pepper spray ect. those types of things can work, but they can also carry with them more issues in needing to be close to a target or in the case of something like mace or pepper spray in closed i areas can end up hurting you as well or even have those items taken from you easier than a gun.

you also might be able to handle that, but others might not be able to. can a 90lbs woman swing a bat around properly to detter a 200lb man? what if theres more than one individual? (iv heard something like 30% of home invasions have more than one intruder). What if someone is more elderly, has arthritis, is handicapped or injured in some way?

and while problems can still arise regardless when you get down to it there is nothing else, but a gun that eliminates as many unknown factors within the moment as possible.

how about make it illegal for jackasses to buy guns same day at a gun show? or hold gun sellers responsible for guns they sell without proper background checks that are later used in crimes?
im assuming youre referring to universal background checks. there are studies out there that show that they either dont work or have very minimal effect. largely because its a unenforceable law with no real way to keep track of anything due to no federal registration. but even then that would only be use dot trace the firearm back after it has been used in a crime. licensed FFL dealers have to do a background check before selling a gun even in states where private sales are legal. this includes at gun shows. if they just sell them without one that is already illegal.

If this is primarily going to be for video editing with some light gaming on the side then id invest in two things, a really good CPU (the more cores, the better) and plenty of ram (32gb MINIMUM). As time goes on the cpu tends to be one of the more harder things to upgrade in a pc since motherboards tend to phase out older cpu chips (which means instead of just upgrading the cpu you might have to upgrade the motherboard as well which might even mean the RAM too. it can get expensive). this is less of an issue with the pc's other components. so because of that its best to get the best cpu you can afford so you dont have to deal with that issue as quickly down the line. hard drives are also going to be a big thing, but those tend to be cheap enough that you can just add more down the line as you see fit and delete stuff you dont need. a quality power supply is important too, but $100-150 will get you a really good one that will power what you need.

the other parts you obviously dont want to skimp out on too heavily, but you can get by on more middle of the road stuff and upgrade as you go along. with the way gpu prices are going id get something fairly "cheap" (like a 1660 [if you can find them for $300] and wait for the prices to come back down on something more tangible (like the 3060, 3070, 3080's ect. which are currently going for about double than what they should be).

because of covid causing everyone to stay inside and play pc games (making many of them go out and buy new gpus) and because bitcoin miners are assholes who buy them all up for greed, gpu prices have gone through the roof. because of that it might be cheaper to get a prebuilt since those companys who do prebuilds usually get a discount on bulk orders and can afford the prices they sell them at.

if gpu prices wernt going to shit then it would be cheaper 99% of the time to build it your self. outside of the graphics cards most other parts are cheaper, its just unfortunate the one peice of hardware that isnt also tends to be the most important and most expensive part in a gaming pc.

that said id still build it your self if youre willing. you will get the exact parts you want and wil know what goes into building it which can be beneficial for tweeking or upgrading down the line. some companys tend to frown upon that stuff and might even void warranties.
