Also, the actual studies are a much more difficult hurdle than the textbooks. Anyone can sit down and read through a textbook. The studies require (most often) a large amount of background knowledge and training to understand.

That's not to say that people shouldn't try, especially since the studies that the public usually gets really excited about are ones that are pretty accessible to the layman.

The meat of the studies, where they explain all the procedures, data, calculations, etc. is tough for sure. But you can dive into the Abstract, Intro, and Conclusion without much difficulty in a lot of the popular studies like you said are more accessible. You don't need to understand all the formulas after you read a paper, but you can at least get an idea of why they did the study, what they think the data shows, and areas where the study was lacking or could be inaccurate.

But anyway, people shouldn't be getting their science from clickbait articles and tweets. They don't need to go study textbooks like TC is suggesting, but they should at least be able to read the actual studies being referenced, not just CNNs article "XY Causes/Prevents Cancer!!!!!"

The entire build up of for Daenerys has been her fucking dragons.

If the Night King can toss a spear a mile, why didn't he just pick off the Fellowship while they were sitting ducks on that rock?

Yeah it satisfied our nerd boners seeing the White Walkers vs. the Dragons, but the more and more I think about it, the more I realize how much the show has been a massive let down. With GRRMs books to guide them, they were able to build a very complex world with awesome characters, now they have no idea what to do with those characters...

Besides Tyrion, Jon Snow, and Dany, I don't think there is any argument that can be made for the other characters being better or equal in the show compared to the books. Varys, Little Finger, Jaime, Dornish, Tyrells, Sansa, Arya, Stannis, Roose, Euron, etc. are all infinitely better in the books.

The whole set-up of this was really weird and lame. It made the White Walker army look pretty pathetic just standing around and staring. Not one of them had a ranged weapon? Oh wait the King guy had an icicle spear he didn't bother to use until the dragons came. They weren't even paying attention to the ice freezing over. The set-up would have worked better if they were hiding behind enemy lines barely surviving or something.

if you watch the "Inside the Episode" featurette that HBO Now plays after the episode, pretty much all Dan Weiss talks about is how they knew certain plot points that they wanted to have happen (mainly capturing the wight, the party getting stranded, and Dany rescuing them) and everything else was kinda sorta fill in the blanks here, connect these lines there, in ways that could happen or could make some kinda sense. it was pretty laughable watching him explain their process and all actually.

Damn... why can't GRRM just finish the damn books already!! The show is a mess
