Where did the chains come from? Did they just manifest? Did the army of the dead carry them around this whole time? I can suspend disbelief with most things but stuff like this bugs me. My suggestion: Have the night king walk up to where the water meets the ice and he pauses. He then steps onto the water and the ice instantly freezes. He takes a few more steps and then bends down and puts his hand near the water which also instantly freezes. He does his magic thinking pose and then elsewhere in the lake, Viserion charges out of the ground at like 90 with ice and water crashing all around. He lands on the island in the middle and breathes blue flame into the sky and is all majestic af.
