Never knew that but it makes sense in hindsight why something like Brawl wouldn't have been in-stock.There really isn't much point, unless you want to play the game hours within release. It's an old marketing gimmick from a bygone era before the industry blew up, and it's never going to shrink again to the degree it was. I mean, gaming was this niche hobby like comic books and now they make more money than movies. You don't need physical hardware to play them. That's why they try to get you to pre order by shoveling junk at you, but that novelty wears off once you realize how much storage space that stuff takes up. --- I've got the Oscar fever! | WarfireX 04/23/24 4:56:35 PM #9 | Way back in the day physical copies of games sold out if you didn't pre order. Gaming wasn't the booming industry it is today. Rental stores like Blockbuster exist. Around the PS1 era, the NES kids were finally saving enough allowance up to buy their own games.
So Gamestop didn't know how many physical orders to get. They could order 10 copies of Time Commando or Alundra that just live in their store, but then 200 copies of Resident Evil Director's Cut would be gone in two days. In fact, I think RE Directors Cut was what prompted me to pre order RE 2, and you better believe you needed to have RE2 pre ordered to play that game on release week. Same with Final Fantasy VII. The hype for those games was off the charts, and you wanted to dump weekend hours into them as fast as possible. --- I've got the Oscar fever! Hope you've got it too! I just finished the first "part". He arrived in some town, banged some woman that King tried to depict as ugly, but you could tell she wasn't, then he gave this "big" woman, who was described as 300 lbs but attractive an abortion with his gun, then he killed every man woman and child in the town with his 6 shooters RE4 style. Am I supposed to be rooting for this guy? He literally just butchered an entire town. Granted it was in self defense, but I don't have any clue of the scope of things or his motives. Seems like King didn't at this point either, hence why he keeps it so ambiguous. It's all just very incoherent and chaotic, which can be fine for entertainment value. But people describe this series like it's Lord of the Rings or something. I haven't read Lord of the Rings, but I never got the impression it was like this. When does the series hit its stride? It's just as good of an episode as any, and just doesn't reach the highs of the best episodes, but because it takes a two person play angle, people try to make a case against it. Bizarre.

Game balance was just different in those days. The fire flower is a linear upgrade from the super mushroom. If anything, the cape is more balanced than typical simply because there might be circumstances where you would want the flower instead.IMO this is why SMB 3 is still the better game between the two, and it's how I like them to handle power ups in modern Mario games. Think about how you are fascinated with so many aspects of video games. Girls also love anything nature, but usually have a sub category. Meanwhile physical games do degrade over time. Even under ideal conditions, your PS1 discs probably aren't going to work when you are 80. This makes me realize we grew up in a very special time. Some games will never be digitized and remastered to the new systems. Games like Clock Tower (PS1) or Time Commando are just these games that pretty much have no hope of ever being placed on modern consoles. Capcom has totally turned its back on Breath of Fire. We are lucky to have Syphon Filter on the PS Store now, but will that carry over to the PS6? The gaming industry is responsible for making sure these games aren't lost to history, like old black and white films. They should preserve our culture. Do you agree that they need to take measures to preserve these PS1 era games that are in danger of being lost? --- I've got the Oscar fever! Hope you've got it too!
