2 really upped the ante on the storytelling. 1 was basically just follow Angel as she leads you toward the vault. The presence of Handsome Jack as the main character, and the villain, definitely drove the plot. One of the more memorable antagonists in gaming.

I was disappointed with 2-2 because I liked Peko and wanted her to be in the game longer. Was the most interesting character in the cast. I wasn't very connected to anyone else. I didn't care for Fuyuhiko and honestly didn't really want to see him have a redemption arc. At least Peko's execution sequence was awesome. In fact, maybe she only lost because Fuyuhiko was there.

I disagree with Seabass pretty strongly. However, by the time the game is over, I imagine you'll only barely remember Byakuya was even there. 5 more chapters and a bunch of plot twists is a long way to go. I do think it's amazing how they made me actually kind of appreciate Teruteru before they killed him, when up until that moment, I was eagerly looking forward to him getting offed.

Okay, final DR1 character rankings would be basically perfect if Aoi got bumped up to #4. You got the top 3 spot on, though. Kyoko and Byakuya are amazing and Sakura is such a badass.

Compared to them...I just didn't get into the DR2 cast. There were one or two characters who might've had a chance. (Spoilers: Gundham isn't one. He'd be VERY low on my ranking list. I find him trite and obnoxious, perhaps because he's a callback to things I know nothing about.)

I love seeing Zelda's predictions because I always laugh when he says something that is actually spot-on and then something else that is bonkers wrong. I didn't make any predictions. I just stumbled through the game half-lidded and let everything happen, so to see all these insights is way different than how I lived through these two games. (I'll get the third one eventually.)

To be fair, the 1-3, 4-6 format is completely new to the contest, so it does alter perceptions of how things "should" be done a little. You have a different paradigm on song selection than I did. So do it whatever way makes sense...but IMO if a game loses with the same song twice, that's not punishing the game, that's punishing the nominator.

Wow, that's ridiculous. Highest level on my server is only 42. (Two days late start, and all the super progressive people got on the early servers, but still.)

I'm currently running third in the level race, at 38. Strangely, as a priest, I find myself behind another priest, the leader. There was a hunter keeping pace with him, but that person seems to have taken a break, so it's Priest (42), Mage (39), Me (38), Hunter (38). This is all assuming there isn't a higher level horde, because hell if I know what's going on over there. Highest horde I've seen is 32.

you guys are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too sensitive on 'spoilers'. Do you consider it a spoiler when you're reading a book and you see you're getting toward the end, or when it has a table of contents that lists how many chapters something is?
Or when you hit pause on a movie and it shows you the time left?

The difference is that those are media where the exact length is fixed and known from the start. If you were playing a D&D adventure, would you like the DM to tell you how many play sessions it would be before it was over? Even sports have the element of needing overtime, which nobody would appreciate having spoiled for them because it trivializes regulation play.

You literally just PW:S yourself on CD, cast SW:P, and then wand.

This is terrible for mana efficiency. Shield is only for emergency damage stoppages and for ensuring you get spells off that can get interrupted. And you need more damage output from your initial burst. Nuke a couple times to open, finish with pain since it's an instant spell, and THEN wand. Wanding at the end, of course, is important to take advantage of the 5 second rule.

Wait a few seconds between battles for spirit tap. If you aren't leveling with shadow, you're 100% doing it wrong. You don't need holy or discipline talents before the game becomes all about running instances at 50+. My server's been up for two fewer days than everyone else's and I've gotten to level 35 np. Only run Stockades once.

I think that leaves you with 2 remaining nominations if I'm not mistaken. You were definitely cheesed out of some placements because of the unfamiliarity category so keep an eye out for that list I'll be dropping after the ranking to see how this does.

I was just trying to look for some songs I really liked that weren't going to be on your auto-includes. As long as you enjoyed the tracks, I did my job.

Future ending, babies ever after. Toko is dead (wonder how she died if there were no more murders, suicide?), and Hina married everyone.

I thought this ending was pretty hilarious, how apparently the 4 of them continued to live happily every after within the school. Byakuya, in particular, looks so...settled in that picture. I guess his kid was at least 6 or 7 in that pic, though. And Aoi with the reverse harem is interesting, to say the least. (I guess Byakuya's kid could be Toko's.)

When the new servers went up Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, I woke up and started anew there. I'm on Azuresong now, and leveling a priest. At first, there were no level rushers, so I was catching up to the leader pretty quickly, but now there's a hunter pushing the pace so I doubt I'm going to hit 60 first there since I didn't do the same.

Anyway, currently level 25 on effectively 2 days real time. (About 26 hours /played.)

Okay, so I did it. I paid for one month's subscription, logged onto Westfall server (which looks to be new since the population on it's only medium and the server list is definitely longer than it had been,) and created two characters. Now I just need to make the call between hunter and priest.

I will be level-rushing. It's just what I do. New server, new ladder, if you will. The question is which class to play.

Hunter is the faster class, of course. If I'm truly aiming to get server first to 60, I should do hunter. Thing is, I haven't played in ten years. I wasn't in the beta. I'm simply not going to remember where everything is, even if I literally spend all day today reading my old leveling guide. And I'm only one person. The last time I rushed a new server, the first to 60 was a tag-team by a brother and sister who played round the clock. I was one of five people to have hit 50 when they capped out.

However, on that server, I was playing priest, the other class I know well. And even if I was the 5th to cap (4th Alliance), I was a valuable commodity afterwards. If I plan on continuing to play past the initial grind, a priest is initially far more valuable since somebody's gotta play the healer. That server's first five were hunter-hunter-paladin-priest-warrior. They would have been waiting a while to do any 5-mans without me.

So I dunno. I could argue this either way. Hunter is what I'm used to. Priest is better for the immediate time thereafter. Maybe I'll prefer hunter again, if we go to the extreme long run -- although right now I'm hoping I don't get addicted to WoW again.

And maybe I quit within 24 hours. That's always possible, too.

Cly's argument makes sense to me and I don't see why you're getting so defensive about it. Everybody should bring something, and maybe even be some small measure of overlap so you don't need one specific spec since that makes raid composition obnoxious, but there shouldn't be a tremendous amount of overlap. I don't know the particulars of contemporary WoW, but throughout the period I did play, the class designs gradually migrates from one of uniqueness to one of homogenization. The reputation the game has is that this trend continued to a degree that what class you choose to play is almost as cosmetic as which race you pick. Obviously a warrior isn't going to heal and a mage isn't going to tank, but there's little concern for worrying about raid make-up unless you're trying to squeeze the last 1% of efficiency out of the system, and elite raid teams are going to do that no matter what the circumstances. So on one hand, you don't have someone sitting because their class is unneeded. I have personally had to sit on raids, so I certainly know what that's like. On the other, when you are part of a raid, you do like to feel like there's a reason you're there beyond just pewpewpew.
