I'm still not a terribly big fan of automata's soundtrack compared to everything else monaca has done in that style. Overstays its welcome even though I feel I should like it regardless. Meanwhile, (pokemon) super good mystery dungeon song

Hard meh, maybe the worst dai song in any of the setlists (i even like tomorrow more). Prinny song alright. Reminds me of other things i can't quite place I'm pretty sure I like more than it though

First match shouldn't be any surprise for me, I like Gentle Slope Cave and it's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rhythm stuff at :15 and more. Also it's versus (vocals) (actually there's not that much vocals it's more that it's slow & orchestral)

Second match it's got that Granado Espada track I really enjoyed from VGMC13 with those great strong moments at like 1:12, but I love War of the Woods much more, it's really what I would call a beautiful song and I really like the set of feelings it inspires through chip tune done well. (well, maybe except for the sloppy loop point).

Third match, for some reason I recalled being super opposed to Prinny songs in the setlist during nomination stuff, but this is real neat. Instrumentation is a bit too natural junglistic for my tastes but it still uses varied sounds enough to not be too bad (like especially that nice upwards rain sound at :44) and I can get behind this sort of tune as well. As for it's opponent, well, I can't help but find it funny this pattern of how I seem to keep voting against all the songs people have nominated for my thing lol (it should be coming real soon I'm like on the final stages of it to be ready to go I just keep getting preoccupied with other stuff sorry!!)

sppd might be my least fav ost in the entire contest, like as a setlist I think I might like it even less than cadence of hyrule's specific picks honestly. not sure, since I like how it's FM but compositionally it's all so stilted/emotionless to me in a way I find actively dumb sounding, and the instrumentation is like maybe my Least Favorite use of FM I've ever even heard even if I normally like fm. nothing positive to say so i'll stop trashing it for NOW

Cool chanting in the Nier track, but a lot of others from this series do it a lot better. GSC is really boppin' when it gets going.

I miss Cooking Caves, WotW just sounds like some kid mashing on a keyboard and hoping that whatever comes out is music. WINDOWS PRODUCTION (nvm wrong song), I really like this one even from back in VGMC. Cool mood-setting tone, with the jazzy piano as a nice touch.

Color-themed match! Disgaea trumpets have always rubbed me the wrong way, but otherwise this is actually very solid. Despite what other posters have been saying, Black Knight might be one of my new favorite dai tracks.

Nier: Automata is probably one of my favourite soundtracks, listened to it a lot in the last year but I don't really care about Alien Manifestation. It has a couple really good parts but overall I'm not feeling it.

woo Alien Manifestation. One of my top Automata tracks. Really love this one. Great epic/sad feel to it. GSC is actually quite neat too, especially the beginning parts. One of the better PMD tracks I've heard.

Where'd the 1 go? It's Not Over is still as good as ever, 1 or otherwise. Ware of the Woods is pleasant.

Green Labyrinth doesn't have that annoying Disgaea feel woo. Not Umineko song is quite nice too.

MATCH 1

Really close match here. Alien Manifestation, I feel, is one of the weaker songs in the Nier Automata list for me. It's still pretty neat though! Packs quite a bit of emotion to it. Gentle Slope Cave is nice and playful with the rapid violin playing. I'm really torn on this match, but my gut says Alien Manifestation. Could go either way here.

MATCH 2

Another really close match. War of the Woods is a nice and happy song. The melody's really nice. Kinda feeling It's Not Over's more somber sound more right now. This is another match where I could see myself going either way.

MATCH 3

Green Labyrinth is really upbeat and adventurous! Sounds almost tropical too. I think it has a pretty neat sound to it.

Funny that a few people have been saying that they're pretty mixed on Black Knight and dai's style of music. I happen to think that this is a pretty decent dai song. [TBC]
