I could never nail it down on Expert but I scored a high 80% most of the time.

Of all the songs in the final tier, this was easily the most playable of the bunch. You just had to get a good groove and you could jam out the whole thing. Not sure if I FC'ed it or not, because I was not known for my consistency, but I very well may have. Definitely could not even come close to saying that about Rain Blood.

The score ultimately suffers because of no interpretable lyrical representation imo and I'm not sure about where the message would be either.

RIP.

Who didn't have the hots for her in the late 90's though am I rite?

I was going to ask what happened to her, but I guess the answer is Tom Cruise did. I mean, she doesn't look bad, but 40 isn't being especially kind to her.

then just resort to the version down below by Fred Durst. It's better anyway. If I could have, I would have just went with Limp Bizkits version here since it would have scored considerably higher than the original.

Gross. I like Limp Bizkit when they're being Limp Bizkit, but this was not that. Even if you like the rest of it, how can the bridge not ruin it for you?

You can get the breakdown on the scoring system right in post #2.

If anything is unclear just ask and I'll elaborate further. =)

Okay.

Memories: What constitutes memories for you? The way I read that at first, it was how well you remember the song and what is brings you back to. But that doesn't make any sense if you have no memories of a song you're just hearing for the first time.

Message: What if the song isn't sending a message?
Lyrics: What if the song has no lyrics?
Top 100 Bonus: What if the song has no accolades?

Leaning points: So you're saying...if you're really confident a song is a 6.9, it gets a higher ranking than if you're reluctantly giving it a 7.0? What if you're unconfident that you might be lowballing it?

Um... not sure what you might be suggesting there. I didn't rank anything based on how mainstream it was or wasn't.

You mean you don't have a category that is literally "how well did the world receive this song?" And then another that's essentially "how fondly do I recall this song?"

I'm not trying to belittle your system. It's very comprehensive and way more detailed than I would ever have the patience to carry out myself. I also don't fully understand it, but I trust from the level of detail that it's very fair-minded and thought out. I'm just kinda curious: if your system dropped the lowest score of the seven, how many songs would shoot up the ranks?

Literally, no, but whether or not you recognize it is a factor. You know more music than I do, so there's always the chance something more niche has caught your attention, but since the rating is out of 10 rather than binary, songs that didn't make it big do get penalized.

Another victim of "this is good but not mainstream enough to win" strikes.

How many 6.x songs will there be?

I do feel like the song is way longer than it needs to be. I was already done with the song around 7:00 minutes in the first time I listened to it

For what it's worth, this is the final track on the album. It's not really clear if the second half is part of the song or just a hidden track. Would you have liked it better if it had ended around 4:20? (Actually, looking at Wikipedia's track listing, it has Sway at 4:25 and the rest of the track is just called Outro.)

Se7enthrust posted...
If you had any other specific recommendations for this band I'd love to hear them

I like the lostprophets a good bit, but they don't have anything that sounds like Sway. Their first album, The Fake Sound of Progress, is really raw and unstructured. From Start Something, I like Burn Burn. A personal favorite that I doubt anyone else will like is from the third, called For All These Times. The fourth never had a US release. What I consider the fourth album, Weapons, didn't have anything amazing. I guess the lead track, Bring Em Down, was the highlight there.

And then the band promptly broke up because the lead singer was jailed for pedophilia. I don't know all the details on that, but I know it was not uncommon for him to bring underage fans back to his room after concerts. Unfortunately, that connection often makes people run away from the music, which has absolutely nothing to do with his proclivities.

This song is a classic for sure but I find it interesting that most people I know are only familiar with Mariah Carey's version which is the best imo. Interestingly enough though, her version isn't even a direct cover of the original but a more tweaked cover of Harry Nilsson's version from 1972 which is also good just not my favorite.

I thought Nilsson was the originator of the song. Interesting.

It's probably close to their 2nd best song ever but I'm not sure about any of that. I'm just noting that they might be the only two songs I can really think of when I think of the band atm lol.

Pain Lies on the Riverside
Operation Spirit
The Dam at Otter Creek
Selling the Drama
I Alone
Iris (not the Googoo Dolls one)
All Over You
Shit Towne
White, Discussion
Lakini's Juice
Rattlesnake
Run to the Water
Simple Creed
Overcome
Heaven
(and 14 other singles not worth mentioning)

Hey, a whole bunch of songs at once. And one of them's mine, too!

I'm kinda surprised And We Danced stayed up that long. I was scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to find an 80's song that didn't get struck as something you already had. (And apparently I still had one autopicked for me.) I went with The Hooters because they're a local Philadelphia group and I didn't expect you to have actually heard the song before.

I'm fairly clueless outside my niche within the board. Haven't seen either of you post in quite a while, and I have no idea who knows who IRL. About the only part of this I knew was that Genny was one of the few girls on the board.

Any pics of the happy couple?
