Paratroopa1 12/23/19 10:58:51 PM #335 | I really liked 3-5 but I just don't really get the point of Kaito blowing the plan for no particular reason - I think either; 1) the plan works, the game is blown, and that sets the stage for the finale OR 2) Kaito has to give up the plan in order to save Maki but it was kind of silly the way they did it |

One reason I would have liked just a little more explanation of how Palpatine returned was that I fully expected it to be some kind of trick. Like I thought maybe that crane he was attached to that I guess was supposed to be keeping him alive/allowing him to move was actually operating him like a puppet, or some other kind of man-behind-the-curtain ruse. I don't really think that's an unreasonable thing to think, so if they didn't want me to think that, they really could've made it clear that I shouldn't.At the start of the movie, when his voice was shifting, I thought Palpatine was going to be a fakeout and the Darth Plageuis thing was going to happen for real That might have been interesting, might have not, I don't really know |

Basically, because of the time zone trick in 1-1, they had to make this call immediately, and this was the call they made and they've stuck with it since. I think if they made this choice in 2019 they'd leave it in Tokyo. |

Paratroopa1 12/21/19 6:57:08 PM #77 | Anagram posted... - Phoenix doesnt have a drivers license? I know so many people online who dont. That is inconceivable where I live. This is another "this game used to take place in Tokyo" sort of thing, somewhere where you can get away with not having a driver's license, unlike LA Anagram posted... - What was this guys dialogue in Japanese? I assume 1337 isnt a thing there. Basically normal if I recall correctly, he does not do 1337 speak in Japanese, that was a pretty significant example of punching up the dialog. I remember loving it back in 2005 though, it was so unusual for a game to make references to internet culture back then, so it made me really feel like the writers "got" what they were doing. Even at the time his internetisms were outdated, so the joke always kind of made me laugh. |

By the way, this music, this is like if an American level had like bald eagle screeching and a country twang for the music. You know this is a Japanese game right? They just made music that sounded like it would go to a Japanese tv show about samurai, and she's only enjoying "Japanese culture" in this game because it was localized to take place in LA in the North American version; in the original script she just... likes kids' tv shows |

Paratroopa1 12/21/19 5:06:32 AM #46 | Anagram posted... - Can I just say how clever this format of questioning and cross-examination is? Its a great mechanic for interrogation. I can easily imagine this being played straighter and being boring as a result. Anagram posted... - Every detail about this game is really endearing, like the wooshing lines behind Phoenix and Edgeworth as they argue. Even the super dramatic music cutting out at the most important part when the cell phone is used is great. Yeah, the AA series is great at stuff like this. I really like you pointing out the attention to detail on the presentation, because it is a really important part of the game. 1-2 does end kind of weird though, if you think it was abrupt that Mia just shows up and gets Redd White to confess you're not alone; most cases end on a far more satisfying note |

Paratroopa1 12/20/19 10:13:03 PM #21 | You really have to get used to the game that this is not a game about actual legal proceedings, it's really more of a murder mystery drama where you're playing a detective who then argues his case at a fancy debate club that looks like a court. Once you sort of recontextualize what the AA series is actually like and forget about all the silly legal shit it makes more sense |

Paratroopa1 12/20/19 9:25:21 PM #14 | Anagram posted... - Were introduced to the facts of the case quickly: Larry Butzs girlfriend was found dead in her apartment. I dont know why, though, because the game opens with Forehead Dot Guy kills her and telling us that hes going to frame him. This is sort of Phoenix Wright teaching you that this series isn't really a whodunnit so much as it is a whydunnit and howdunnit - without spoiling much, most cases' real twists won't be who the murderer is, but their method, or motives Anagram posted...
Can you prove that nothing happened to it between then and now? Even if it was taken into evidence right after the murder, maybe the clock broke when it was used as a murder weapon or something |

Paratroopa1 12/16/19 10:02:15 PM #4 | 4 > 5 > 7 > 6 > 8 > S > RO > 2 > 3 > 1 big drop off after the first four for me. the original trilogy has always been a sentimental favorite; I felt like TFA knocked it out of the park and was really a fun throwback to those times that did everything right. TLJ was a weird and kind of stupid mess, Solo was so much less than what it could have been, Rogue One was a bit of a slog to get through, and the less said about the prequels the better. |
