I mean, here's the thing, there's so much variety in the character roster that I'm not really concerned about how uniquely someone plays anymore, I just want the maximally most exciting characters to have in a big crossover at this point and Chrono Trigger is the most iconic Nintendo-adjacent game/series not represented in Smash IMO

Crono is the objectively best choice for a new smash character imo but I doubt it'll happen

I adore CrossCode's combat, I haven't really had any issues with it, it flows super smoothly, it's just the right level of difficult, and all the various combat options seem pretty viable. I do have some complaints about the game but they're pretty minor (figuring out how to reach certain areas can be TOO difficult sometimes; gathering some of the items you need for some equipment is a chore and can result in overleveling past the equipment's relevance anyway)

Also I have a really crappy PC so I get some pretty severe slowdown/crashing issues (I've probably had to restart the game over 50 times just because of this) but I think a better PC than mine won't have any issues, I've put up with it because the game's worth it

CrossCode? Yeah I think it's just PC, I'm playing it on Steam

This is the first time I've ever seen people talk about CrossCode, I'm playing it right now and I can't recommend it enough - I'm completely baffled by the fact that it's not hugely popular, it's one of the most polished and robust retro-indie games anyone's ever made. it's like Secret of Mana's gameplay, Zelda's puzzles, and Phantasy Star's aesthetics fucked and had a baby that was way better

I totally agree with this and I'm glad to hear someone else notice it and bring it up - I think sound design in a game is an incredibly important factor in game feel. If a sound effect is off, it's noticeable, and you'll notice really quickly how much less satisfying things are if the sounds are turned off. Good sound design is what gives a lot of actions in games the 'oomph' they need to feel fun to do.

I really like the work Powerup Audio did in Crypt of the Necrodancer and Darkest Dungeon, for instance. I watched Kevin Regamey, the lead sound designer, work on some sounds for Necrodancer and it was really apparent how much care he put into all of them; there's a big difference between someone who just uses stock sounds for everything and someone who actually designs these sounds. I like in Necrodancer, for instance, that originally he had doors open up with this slow, creaking sound, but realized that didn't fit well with the game's rhythmic pacing - so he changed it to be this loud, staccato door slam effect to give it a nice thump, and it makes even a boring act like opening a door feel really good

Darkest Dungeon has some of the most impressive sound work I've ever seen - nearly every single attack or action in the entire game has a unique sound effect, and it sounds so good, so crisp, that I almost feel like I'm playing an action game when I play it despite the fact that it's just a turn-based RPG. When you click Crusader's Smite and it crits, it lands with such a resounding THUD that it somehow carries this kinetic energy through it.

Yeah LSU and Oklahoma punched their tickets, Ohio State probably has punched their ticket even with a loss (seeding is the only thing that matters here), the only thing is, if Clemson loses, is it Clemson, Oregon, or Wisconsin-if-they-win. nobody else is really in contention

it's moot now though, Clemson is not in danger of losing this game

I tend to make the same choices in a game that I would as a person, but that's mostly just out of not having a lot of options between 'good guy' and 'total dick' - in pen-and-paper roleplaying games I have a lot more versatility in my characters' personalities which isn't really something I can convey in most video games

I just can't imagine having a nearly infinite number of different options for things I could create and play as and deciding, eh I'll just make something based on myself. It's not even a self-loathing thing, I just don't get it

Probably about 50/50, slight lean towards female especially because historically there have been fewer female protagonists in games, but that has started to shift in the last few years

Women tend to be more fun to design because they're allowed to be cuter or more interesting as a general rule

Really? The one furry convention I attended it was like 10% ears and tails only, 5% a drawn fursona worn as a badge, and the rest was all elaborate full body suits. I guess fur cons paint a very false image.

Edit: Mm... actually thinking back on it maybe it was more like 60% full costume, 25% headpiece, tails, and paws, then 10% ears and tails, 5% fursona.

Still the full body was the majority for sure
