It's socially odd to reject the existence of a monotheistic deity? I didn't realize that belief in "God" was mandated for social acceptance in this country. I thought we were supposed to be accepting of diversity.

I've never understood why people think it "creates diversity" by limiting the pool.

tbh that was the other idea, but it means more fodder might get in like if somebody nominated a Grey's Anatomy character just to get dead last which is why I didn't want that >_>

As much as I hate UOTY and am glad it was retired, I really like its format because it's epic. I am curious as to whether or not you guys would like to have a Character of the Year. As I see it, most of the drama in UOTY was due to users' desires to be popular. Since we haven't gotten a proper site contest since 2015, I thought why not have something fun here and do such a contest without it being about e-pop?

I'm leaning toward making it any fictional character who's ever appeared in a video game. So while this would include the likes of Darth Vader, Spider-Man, James Bond, Frodo, God, etc. it would not include real people or characters that don't usually interest nerds.

Also, I'm not going to host such an undertaking solo, so if there's enough interest I'd really like a co-host or two.

What do you guys think of all this?

The Outcast twist made Pearl Islands much more interesting, but it was not fair. It was wholly unannounced and therefore the players did not pay any mind to how they voted people out .Savage wasn't screwed by stupidity since he voted out Lill thinking he'd never see her in-game again. Many players before and after him managed pre-jurors poorly and it didn't matter. Lill wasn't going to be on the jury, so he didn't have to keep his word to her to gain a jury vote. Savage's second go... he was screwed by the laziness and stupidity of his entire alliance, of which Kelley Wentworth took full advantage. And that event is still one of the most awe-inspiring things in Survivor.

I like Savage based on that but Coach works too because he's just as ridiculous as some of the twists. Truly a larger than life character.

my biggest issue with TAR is how indistinguishable each season is. maybe its just me but all of it blends together and very rarely does anything stick out.

This is exactly why I don't really care much about TAR anymore. Every season feels the exact same. There aren't very many cool new places they go to and teams don't have the same level of story they once did. Unless there's a unique eccentric team that's a lot of fun, it's usually redundant archetypes like "the bickering dating couple" and "the Barbies" and "the gay guys" that make each season blend together even further. Like I couldn't tell you the difference between most of the "Barbies" pairs. None of them compare well to Dustin & Kandice from seasons 10 & 11 anyway.

Kateee watch San Juan then skip Worlds Apart to Cambodia. There will only be two people in Cambodia you won't know from having skipped WA and you can easily be caught up on who they are and what they did.

I agree that Worlds Apart is not worth watching. There are a couple of great moments but they're drowned out by all of the bad ones. You'll quickly learn who the returnees are in Cambodia and Game Changers.

Hmm, didn't go through that part of the bonus features. Mostly because I don't love that season enough to dig that deep. That reason makes sense too.

I plan to apply for Survivor also. I think I'm in the best shape of my life so the timing feels right to start to get my name out there. I already know a few things I'm going to say. Like "I'm such a superfan that when I got eaten alive by bedbugs I was like hey, this is good prep for Survivor!" They love that stuff,

Only when my pants rip, my shoes wear out, or something's too ratty. I want it to look good, sure, but I don't need to buy new stuff every other month or anything.

My mom does much of my clothes shopping since I usually ask for clothes for Christmas or my birthday. I am the type who is like "If it still fits and isn't torn or ratty, why do I need a new one?"

I still have some undies from high school, though. I'm slowly getting rid of the ones that have holes in them as I can afford new pairs.

Okay, yeah, that changes things.

It's refreshing that we're getting a more old-school season in several ways, honestly. All newbies, no gimmicky way to divide tribes, and a central twist more along the lines of Exile Island, only with it tying into Survivor history (including the old school).

I just hope that 37 follows a similar formula. I'd love for 39 to be "Survivor: 39 Days" and be a straight-up good ol' fashioned 18-person game of Survivor with a final two, complete with a double TC and a total of three idols. One thing I liked about HHH was that they didn't shove the gimmick down our throats. I hope they're listening...

Huh? What about Redemption Island (significantly older Zapatera tribe), South Pacific, and Philippines? Those all seem possibly random as well, with the only stipulation of one veteran per tribe. SJDS seemed like the loved ones were randomly placed as well, with Hunahpu being a significantly better tribe.
