Yeah, I wasn't expecting that, but perhaps since we nominated more HHH in certain categories, there was some SFF. Not surprised about The King of the Jungle being best #SurvivorAU character, "THAT" being the shocking moment, and SugarGate dominating the funniest moment vote. But I thought the HHH cast and episodes would get more love. I thought the Rogue Knights were most likely to win Best Alliance and HHH had a better chance at Best Move and Best Episode. All that said, I find the seasons about even after it's all digested, but HHH had a more unpredictable edit done in a way that actually made sense. The sentiment seems to be that Game Changers was better, which is odd considering how so many people were ready to move on as that season concluded. Overall, 2017 was the most disappointing Survivor/BB year since 2011. --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |

Cagayan so good I remember falling out of my chair when Weasel Woo voted Chaos Kass out. You have the master strategist and the one who burned bridges with almost the entire jury... and you take the master strategist!? When it went down here on board 8, we had a new topic put up right after Woo won the final IC (IIRC it was either darkx or SanityLapse) with the poll "Are you happy with the winner?" Several people started voting "No" but then Woo took Tony and it lit up like a dumpster fire. Ah, the memories. Woo would've won 9-0, too. Tony didn't raise his hand because he didn't think it applied to him. Trish and Jefra, the two who got Chaos Kass to flip at the merge, even said they hated her guts. Tony is still an incredible, one-of-a-kind winner. How someone so erratic and yet so calculating and over-the-top entertaining... and how that person can win... is amazing. Cagayan is a top-tier season with such an incredible cast. Only issues are Lindsey being a quitter, J'Tia being worse than Chet at challenges and therefore an obvious early boot, and Jeremiah being drowned out (and even then, he's not a bad "male model" archetype). And even so, those three all offered entertainment. KujikawaRising 12/29/17 12:51:21 PM #106 | My biggest issue with the movie, now that it's all sunk in, was the lack of development for Rey. Snoke connected her to Kylo Ben, but those scenes were used to give HIM more development than her. She was pressuring him to defect. We were getting more thoughts of his and more of his past than hers - and he wasn't pressuring her as hard. When she fell into the mirror void or w/e it's called, we got zilch. They had plenty of opportunities but did not capitalize on them as much as they could have. One prediction that occurred to me was that Kylo Ben and Rey switch places, essentially, and Rey becomes the new Vader for the next trilogy, mask and all. Basically, an unexpected redux of Anakin. She has a strong resolve, but the Darkness... I like Poe, but he's not anything special or memorable. Rey is more interesting to me, but this movie didn't do enough for her when it really should have. I did like the humor. Porgs helped a lot with that (like when they begged for mercy in the most adorkable way when Chewy was eating their friend). "Get your head out of your cockpit" was great. I chuckled at the "Jakku is nowhere" comment. The humor worked here - it wasn't overdone and it wasn't underdone. Comic relief is very necessary. There's a reason I miss the good ol' Q Branch scenes in the James Bond movies - they provided a necessary laugh even in the most serious Bond films. Now even those are serious. Star Wars did it right here. The Force is a Deus Ex Machina used as necessary. That's the very concept of it. Question: Was Phasma really a woman? That eye bugs me. The entire point of the character was to have a "female Vader" for toys, yes, and pander to feminist bigots. The character was not explored at all and I forgot she existed until she showed up. If Rey also becomes a "female Vader" then Phasma's point was also that of distraction. --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |

KujikawaRising 12/21/17 11:47:04 AM #11 | GTAIV Terrible game overhyped by several media outlets. Was given a 10/10 by many gaming rags but in reality is just a 4/10 bore with overly realistic game mechanics and too much of a "real life simulator." I don't want to be spending time with "friends" by going bowling or playing darts in a freakin' VIDEO GAME. I have real friends for that. Zelda has usually been great for me, but this one is a piece of crap game that can't hold a candle to Twilight Princess or Breath of the Wild, both of which are great (even if they have a few flaws apiece). OR Pokmon S&M Games that don't let me use my brain cells are obnoxiously awful. This game took it to new levels. Rank all newbie castaways from each starting tribe (except Exile Island, which would be Day 4 tribe with Timber Tina on La Mina, and Cook Islands which would have Sekou on post-swap Raro and Billy on Aitu [since Billy started on Aitu]). Top 6 from each season advance - top two from 6-person tribes, top three from each tribe on two-tribe seasons. 3. Continue this format, but add 2-3 additional wild card groups of Survivors that got the highest percentage of points of those did not advance. IDK, just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing if anything sticks. I also think the "you only get four votes if you vote early" thing can go. I get that it's done to encourage people to vote early over waiting to reflect their vote based on how other people are voting, but on a half-day schedule that's not exactly doable for everyone. --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |

KujikawaRising 12/21/17 11:14:33 AM #418 | StormTR posted... Mike and Ben were worse than all of them because in Mike's case he needed ALL of those Immunities or he'd be voted out and essentially WAS voted out at Final 7 and was only saved by an Idol he found. Anybody who only makes it through a round thanks to an Idol, screwed up majorly and is somebody I could never give my vote to. Idols art part of the game. Period, end of story. If someone plays one and plays it well, then they're doing something right and outmaneuvering the people trying to get rid of them. Many winners have utilized idols to maximum effect, including Mike, who got out the only person that had beaten him in an immunity before Mama C did that round. I'd say that improves his strategic stock, not the reverse. If you MISplay an idol, that's not a good look. What you're saying is basically you'd never award someone who found an idol a million dollar vote. That's not how Survivor works. Idols are one factor. To exclude anybody that played an idol and used it to blindside somebody else means you're a bitter juror. Peridiam posted... Yeah, I'd say Chrissy had the best FTC. This. Also, Natalie White is not that bad. She was socially aware and was a good complement to the strategist sitting next to her. All I got was a like. StormTR posted... Of course, this is without even getting into the fact that the twist seems designed to try and eliminate who Probst views as "weaker players/coattail riders", but as this season showed, it's just going to make it easier for them to get to the Final 3 and rob better players even more. I agree with this. Ryan mentioned the irony of it all, that his inability to make fire is what got him to the end, as opposed to the reverse. I hope they change the F4 back to the way it should be with S37. While this is better TV, it's not fair for the game. Devon, the best player this season, was robbed all the same as David Wright, the best player on MvX and the probable inspiration for this, was robbed (though by no means is Adam a bad winner, and I am hearing all kinds of casual misconceptions about him like "the jury only voted for him because of his mother" [untrue] or that "they picked him over Hannah because of male bias" [one of the dumbest things I've ever heard]). StormTR posted... I've gotta say, even though Ben now ties Mike for the worst winner to win on their first time playing...I'm at least glad it wasn't Chrissy. I mean, truth be told, the entire Final 3 all played pretty bad games, if we're being honest. How the hell is either Ben or Mike worse than Bob Crowley? Jenna Morasca? Michele Fitzgerald? Fabio Birza? All four of them are weaker winners, because at least Ben and Mike got themselves to the end. Bob lucked into it with Sugar wanting Bob and Matty to go to fire. Jenna made so many enemies and gave up immunity for no reason (should've paid for it) and would have been voted out if she hadn't won either of the last two challenges... and what gives Mike an edge over her is that he'd have beaten Rodney (Hali, Joe, Jenn, and Shirin all vote Mike) while Jenna had no chance against Rob (only getting votes from Heidi and Alex, presuming Christy votes correctly) and might've also lost to Butch. Her only chance was against Matteo, and she took it. But she's still below Mike, who is below Ben. Michele won because the jury were big babies about losing despite them being the ones who closed bridges off that could have gotten them farther. She also was strategically unaware for most of the merge. Fabio... and things like that. Meanwhile, Ben found idols when he needed to and tried to pry his way into the majority alliances, but poor play on behalf of several of them - not wholly dissimilar to Kaoh Rong, just on a less nasty scale - forced him to acquire other means. The thing that puts Ben in the bottom third, however, is that he needed a twist in the game to get to the end at all. Because it was so clear-cut that he would've been voted out, people are calling "RIGGED" even though it isn't. And like the casuals Edwards talked to, I did not know whether it would be Ben or Chrissy triumphing in that final 3. I just knew it wasn't Ryan. However, sub Devon for Ben and... I still don't know. Best F3 would've been Ben/Chrissy/Devon. Could you imagine how they'd try to out-argue each other? Would be fun. --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |

KujikawaRising 12/20/17 10:30:11 AM #2 | My prediction is still that Ben and Devon have a tug-of-war with finale votes and that Chrissy gets ignored for her poor social game. You gotta talk strategy with people to earn their trust and respect. Most of them aren't going to know where her head was ever at. Mike might even lose Joe's vote should he make the end, but the perception is "He has three Healer votes. That's too much of a head start." That's why he's a likely target of some of the others. Ryan and Chrissy are a pair, though, and who knows if anyone else will be like "That's two spots. I don't want to be in the Day 38 Club. I want to be in the Winner's Circle. I should get rid of one of those two so I can get a spot at the end." and make a new agreement. You weren't the one lyin' to everybody." It's a chaotic final three where, as Probst said, There are Chrissy truthers going around but I don't buy into that. She did not talk game with most of the jury. They do not know where her head was at. They will not reward her. --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |

KujikawaRising 12/18/17 3:16:55 PM #1 | "Yes" means you wear hats casually on at minimum a weekly basis (or for your job) "Maybe" means on occasion when you so desire "No" means you wear a hat a few times a year, if that --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |

KujikawaRising 12/15/17 11:22:20 AM #435 | Idols are an essential part of Survivor, so if they were to have a "no idols" twist, it would be a one-season thing only. They should have done the 3-2-1 here. Devon, Ashley, and Mike vote for Ben (this makes Devon look clean in case Ashley stays in the game), Ryan and Chrissy vote for Ashley, and Ben gets convinced that the target is Chrissy, but because she won immunity the vote changed to Ryan since the intent was to split up that pair. The intent is for Ben to not play an idol, but he does anyway. Ashley's exit press confirms they did try to follow him around, but most of them were legitimately bad at it. Like how hard is it to instigate a Mexican standoff the way Andrea did with Malcolm? --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |

KujikawaRising 12/14/17 3:14:35 PM #7 | Xeybozn posted... Honestly, losing net neutrality should help GameFAQs. ISPs are probably going to slow websites down rather than blocking them outright. Since GameFAQs has been stuck in time for a decade it'll still load fine at those speeds, unlike the rest of the web. I haven't had a serious issue with loading times on this site at home... like ever, except when the site or my Internet is down. Five seconds is appropriate at work. Here's hoping Charter doesn't get sticky fingers but since they're the biggest one after merging with Time Warner......... --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |

KujikawaRising 12/14/17 12:57:11 PM #416 | Underleveled posted... I was always under the impression that Brandon WASNT allowed to have his meds on the show, at least not on Caramoan, which is why he kept having meltdowns. I work for a kids' Medicaid program. I've seen many instances of teenagers that were medicated and still had issues. Sometimes the meds worsen things and they're taken off of them. Other times the meds only help slightly... so conditions like Survivor has are not overly helpful in those incidents. It could very well be that Brandon was medicated across both of his seasons but the effect was waning his second go, leading to him going cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs when deprived of food and sleep. Intriguing how he has claimed to have applied for the show, but can you trust anyone from that family with that information? I think Ben from this season might be on some sort of antidepressant due to his diagnosis of Military PTSD. That said, I doubt the drug has helped him as much as Kelli has. Motivation like that does wonders. --- http://i.imgur.com/t3naEGu.jpg I'm BlueCrystalTear, probably at work. |
