Cool guy, but wasn't good TV. The Specialist is a real piece of work. He deserved the abuse his castmates gave him, tbh (Julie burying his pants, though she was cackling like a lunatic, and the "I'm on the rail" or w/e that was) J'Tia was always destined to be an early boot because she was worse than Chet at challenges. That happened just last month in a comic strip I read, Pooch Caf, where the protagonist, a talking dog named Poncho, kidnapped the Ostrich so he could "bark at a bird whenever he wanted." If I didn't read that comic, I would have been shaking my head at that. But I guess the drunk in question reads the strip, too. Oh, and Belicheat is not a great coach. He cheats to win. Don't quote me.) claimed to have looked for the idol in the same place where Hantz found it. So if they'd really been looking, they had to have figured there was a chance somebody else found it. They have a majority even if Shambo doesn't vote with them. They could have used Fiji as a precedent when Earl said to not tell Dreamz that Edgardo was the target. Lie to Shambo that it's Hantz, then dump 6 votes on Mick. 6-4-1. Galu played horrifically by voting out Erik instead of Shambo at F12 - taking out Shambo would be a move no different than what Boston Rob would do to Matt Elrod at the same round a few seasons later. They take out Shambo there, they ensure Hantz misplays his idol and they get rid of the rat. Then they can vote out Mick, the person Hantz was least likely to figure they were targeting, and it would've been smooth sailing. Even with Erik gone then, they could have done that, and it would have been 6-4 after that. Fincher doesn't need to flip. They can just cut Shambo at 10, then be able to split the vote 3-3-3 at F9. Boom. But instead, they put all their votes on the one who played the idol, and that cut through them like a machete. Fincher's flip ensured the others wanted him gone. | KujikawaRising 02/02/18 10:29:50 AM #126 | Intentional Matsing is a terrible idea in a two-tribe situation. It's way too risky because all the other tribe has to do is stick together for a vote or two before imploding, which many alliances tend to do. A dark horse underdog winner like Chris or Danni is highly unlikely in today's Survivor. Though Wentworth Galu DID stick together, but stupidly put all their votes on the most likely person to have an idol. It was even worse when they tried to do it again the next round until Fincher called them all idiots. If they vote for Mick at F11, though this is factoring modern strategy into it (Mick is NEITHER the Big-Threat Lieutenant [that was Jaison] or the Inconspicuous Blonde [Natalie White]), Hantz misplays another idol and has a much tougher road ahead of him. It's harder to flip Galu bottom-feeder Shambo and Fincher doesn't flip in the tiebreaker, since he only did so because he wasn't willing to draw rocks for Laura Morett. But his game knowledge got Hantz to target him next, once Hantz realized how good he was. An intentional Matsing really only works in a three-tribe format. Having only 2-3 people in a swap or merge makes them unlikely targets, especially when there's a Tandang itching to vote each other out. Galu was itching to quash the drama, sure, but they reunited and could have Pagonged Foa Foa.
