Just checked and Maine does not have "red flag laws" that would have taken guns from the shooter (given his condition) and also prevented him from purchasing firearms. They have something called a "yellow flag law".

They may want to reconsider that situation.

For a politician, the evidence of being truly committed to what they're saying is in whatever budget they're responsible for. Tl;dr: they've gotta put the money where their mouth is to be taken seriously.

The movie just rebooted tropes from the old webcomic. I loved the movie but Griffin's role had a large catalogue of things to draw from. His character touched on most of the major ones at a very basic level. Chappelle was the one who really breathed life into his character.

I don't recall finding Eddie Griffin extremely funny in movies and I only seen one of his standup bits (as a kid and thought it was a little too explicit since I recall seeing sexually charged scenes), but I never disliked him. I actually dislike Katt Williams. I'm sure I would have laughed at Eddie Griffin a little more than Katt from movies.

From what I've seen, Katt basically plays the same role in every movie. From Norbit to Friday After Next.

https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/crews-working-to-rescue-customer-trapped-inside-bank-vault-in-midtown-manhattan/

A man spent more than nine hours trapped inside a bank vault overnight in Midtown, Manhattan.

The vault finally opened on an automatic timer at around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, setting him free.

The customer was accessing his safety deposit box in the basement of the World Diamond Tower at 580 Fifth Ave., when the doors closed and he became trapped at around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

FDNY officials said the community vault is owned by DGA Security and utilized by a number of Diamond District businesses.

"Once it's closed, it's on a timing mechanism. That vault does not reopen until a certain amount of time passes," Chief of Department John Hodgens told reporters on the scene.

Firefighters tried to cut through the vault's concrete wall, but once they hit metal plating, decided to wait until it would automatically unlock in the morning.

"The problem with the plating is we'd have to use our torches on there, which would infect the environment of the person inside the vault," Hodgens said.

Crews used a phone and cameras inside the vault to communicate with the man the entire time, making sure he was OK. He was later treated by EMS on the scene and released with no injuries.

With Johnson, like with McCarthy it depends on if Trump is more influential then the corporate donors (to both parties) who don't want our country shutting down.

The regularity of Republican shutdowns and debt ceiling fights has already resulted in a lowering of the US credit rating. I can imagine the Wall Street types are gonna feel some kind of way about the possibility of something like that happening again.

https://www.sacurrent.com/arts/houston-astros-fans-blame-ted-cruz-for-teams-loss-to-texas-rangers-32931941

Houston sports fans are blaming U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz for the Astros' loss against the Texas Rangers in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Moreover, some wonder whether the "Cruz Curse" has pissed off enough people that it could affect his prospects of staying in office. Texas' junior Republican senator is up for reelection in 2024, after all.

The Rangers dashed the Astros' dreams of repeat World Series appearances Monday, crushing Houston in an 11-4 blowout. However, it's not the players that fans have a bone to pick with. Instead, many are blaming Cruz in social media tirades.

As first reported by Rolling Stone, in every game that Cruz attended this off-season, the Astros lost. Those games include Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Minnesota Twins and games 1 and 6 against the Rangers.

"The Astros losing and then Ted Cruz losing his senate seat because enough fans are convinced he cursed the team would be the funniest possible timeline," X user @sam_alberti commented.

Indeed, Cruz who narrowly won reelection in 2018 against Beto O'Rourke faces stiff competition next election season from U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, D-Dallas, and State Sen. Roland Gutierrez, D-San Antonio, a staunch gun reform advocate whose district includes Uvalde.

Last year, a fan threw a beer at Cruz during the team's World Series victory parade. Although the man was charged with aggravated assault, the charges were later thrown out after a Houston grand jury opted not to indict him.

With some speculating that Cruz might be a curse on the Astros, fans begged the Republican senator not to attend Monday's game. However, the ever-intuitive Cruz attended the game anyway a move some social media users speculate might have damaged his chance to hold a third term.

"Normally, an October surprise drops right before the election, not 13 months out, but if all these people vote against Ted Cruz after believing he cursed the Astros politics may forever be altered," @EhresmanKatya chimed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

But at the same time, they could be playing smart by not letting the guy who's next win the money/prizes they may have if you land on bankrupt or lose a turn.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/2/8/7/AAcJoVAAE-L3.jpg

Nerves can get to contestants on Wheel of Fortune, even when faced with solving a puzzle that not only has most of the letters filled out but also should be easy. Such was the case with the Monday, October 23 episode.

Contestant Izzy Santiago was a proud uncle who spoke about his nephews and nieces during his interview earlier. Host Pat Sajak then brought up his good memory. Izzy explained, My brain takes pictures of numbers and letters, and it just remembers it. Sajak asked if that photographic memory was helpful in school, and Izzy confirmed it was though also noted that it could be a curse sometimes as well.

Things took a turn for Izzy for a puzzle in the category Fun & Games. He landed on the $1 million wedge and already had $2250 that round. He was right when he chose an F, resulting in the board reading, _RA_I_G _AME_ FROM A HAT. Izzy then elected to solve, but wrongly guessed DRAWING GAMES FROM A HAT. The next contestant, Frankie Theodore, correctly solved the puzzle without spinning: DRAWING NAMES FROM A HAT.

Sajak tried to offer an explanation for Izzys miss. You know, in addition to the regular nervousness you get up here, now heres a million dollars, and all this stuff, and what am I doing? he suggested. Izzy admitted to the nerves he was feeling in that moment. Things like that happen, Sajak acknowledged.

At the end of the regular gameplay, Izzy came in second place, with $13,550 to Frankies 15,270 (which included the trip she won by solving the aforementioned puzzle).

But if he had guessed that puzzle correctly, and the rest of the game had played out as it had, he could have been the one to head to the bonus round perhaps with the $1 million envelope in play.
